Breast FibroadenomaAtypical Ductal Hyperplasia8 moreThis randomized controlled trial compares vacuum-assisted percutaneous excision to open standard surgical excision in women who have high-risk or borderline, non-malignant breast lesions with respect to efficacy, safety, cosmesis and patient satisfaction.
Prospective Breast Cancer Biospecimen Collection
Breast CancerInvasive Breast Cancer1 moreTissue will be procured during a standard of care procedure the patient will already be scheduled to undergo. A one time blood draw will be performed at this time and an optional rectal swab for biome analysis may occur. Follow Up will only consist of chart review to determine date of recurrence, metastases, and/or death
Decision Making Tool in Supporting Decision Making in Contralateral Prophylactic Mastectomy in Patients...
Anatomic Stage I Breast Cancer AJCC v8Anatomic Stage IA Breast Cancer AJCC v821 moreThis trial studies the acceptability and how well decision making tool works in supporting decision making in contralateral prophylactic mastectomy in patients with newly diagnosed breast cancer. Decision making tool may help patients with early stage breast cancer make decisions regarding their surgical options.
Soy Isoflavones Supplementation in Treating Women at High Risk For or With Breast Cancer
BRCA1 Mutation CarrierBRCA2 Mutation Carrier7 moreRATIONALE: Chemoprevention is the use of certain drugs to keep cancer from forming. The use of soy isoflavones supplements may prevent or treat early stage breast cancer. PURPOSE: This clinical trial studies soy isoflavones supplementation in treating women at high risk for or with breast cancer.
Hypnosedation in Relaxing Patients Undergoing Breast Cancer Surgery
Anatomic Stage 0 Breast Cancer AJCC v8Anatomic Stage I Breast Cancer AJCC v86 moreThis clinical trial studies how well hypnosedation works in relaxing and reducing the need for general anesthesia in patients who are undergoing breast cancer surgery. Hypnosedation is a technique that places patients under conscious sedation where they remain awake and numbed during surgery and involves the use of words and images to help patients relax and to affect their thoughts about what is happening during surgery.
An Episodic Future Thinking Intervention to Promote Weight Loss in Breast Cancer Survivors
Anatomic Stage 0 Breast Cancer AJCC v8Anatomic Stage I Breast Cancer AJCC v822 moreThis clinical trial evaluates the use of an Episodic Future thinking Intervention to promote weight loss in breast cancer survivors. Obesity is associated with multiple negative health sequelae in breast cancer survivors. This includes an increased risk of cancer recurrence and mortality, multiple quality of life issues, and increased risk of co-morbidities. Delay Discounting is a behavioral health economic target that refers to the "discounting" of a larger benefit in the future for a smaller, more immediate reward in the present. A high delay discounting rate is correlated with poor dietary choices and sedentary lifestyle. Episodic Future Thinking (EFT) simulates positive events that may occur in one's future, engaging the science of prospection. EFT decreases delay discounting rate, resulting in healthier diet choices and weight reduction. However, valuation of the future may impact cancer survivors differently due to adjusted mortality perception and cancer-related stress. This study will determine the feasibility and preliminary efficacy of remotely delivered (smartphone application) EFT as a behavioral intervention for weight loss in breast cancer survivors. Implementation of EFT as a complementary approach to standard lifestyle interventions could lead to improvement in weight loss, food choice, and quality of life, thereby positively impacting overall health and longevity in cancer survivors.
Increasing Patients' Engagement in Breast Cancer Surgery Decision-Making
Breast Cancer Stage 0Breast Cancer Stage I2 moreThis trial studies how well a breast cancer surgery decision aid works in increasing patient engagement in decision making for patients with newly diagnosed stage 0-III breast cancer. The trial also examines barriers to patient engagement even with the use of a decision aid, and if barriers are more likely to be experienced by socioeconomically disadvantaged patients.
EMBr Wave for the Reduction of Hot Flashes in Women With a History of Breast Cancer
Breast CarcinomaBreast Ductal Carcinoma In Situ2 moreThis trial studies how well EMBr Wave technology works in reducing hot flashes in women with a history of breast cancer. Hot flashes are a common symptom experienced by menopausal women. The standard treatment for hot flashes is hormone replacement therapy, however hormone replacement therapy cannot be used in women with a history of, or active, breast cancer. EMBr Wave is a personal heating and cooling device worn on the wrist. EMBr Wave may help reduce hot flash severity in women with a history of breast cancer.
Mindfulness Meditation or Survivorship Education in Improving Behavioral Symptoms in Younger Stage...
Cancer SurvivorEarly-Stage Breast Carcinoma8 moreThis randomized phase III trial studies how well mindfulness meditation or survivorship education work in improving behavioral symptoms in younger stage 0-III breast cancer survivors. Behavioral interventions, such as mindfulness meditation, use techniques to help patients change the way they react to environmental triggers that may cause a negative reaction. Survivorship education after treatment may reduce stress and improve the well-being and quality of life of patients with breast cancer. Mindfulness meditation or survivorship education may help improve the health behaviors of younger breast cancer survivors.
