Circulating Cancer Cells/Macrophage HYbrid Cells in Patients With Breast Cancer.

Breast Cancer

Pilot, prospective, monocentric study aimed at evaluating the rate of patients with circulating cancer cell/macrophage hybrid cells in the peripheral blood. The study will be conducted on a population of patients with breast cancer (regardless of stage of the disease and the immunohistochemical subtype). For each included patient, blood samples will be taken and tumor specimens will be collected for the study. At the end of the blood collection, the patient will have completed his participation in the study.

Pain Control for Breast Cancer Patients Receiving Injection of Radioactive Tracer

Breast CancerSentinel Lymph Node2 more

The purpose of this study is to compare the effectiveness four different pain treatments for the injection of radioactive tracer that women with breast cancer receive for sentinel lymph node biopsies. This study will include women who have been diagnosed with breast cancer and who will be undergoing sentinel lymph node biopsy with a standard injection of radioactive tracer before surgery. A participant's active participation will take place on two separate occasions. In the first occasion, a participant will complete a brief pain assessment on the day of enrollment. The rest of a participant's active participation will take place on one day (the day of surgery) and last approximately 20 minutes, after which active participation will end.

Tai Chi for Relieving Aromatase Inhibitor-Induced Arthralgia in Patients With Stage I-III Breast...

Anatomic Stage I Breast Cancer AJCC v8Anatomic Stage IA Breast Cancer AJCC v818 more

This trial studies new methods using Tai Chi for the relief of joint pain (arthralgia) caused by an aromatase inhibitor in patients with stage I-III breast cancer. Tai Chi is a mind-body therapy that integrates moderate physical activity, deep breathing and meditation. Tai Chi may help to reduce aromatase inhibitor-induced joint pain, and offer a promising approach to managing symptoms in cancer patients.

Living Better With Advanced Breast Cancer: Feasibility Evaluation of an Online Supportive Intervention....

Metastatic Breast Cancer

The LIBERATE intervention is a multi-component self-management, symptom monitoring and signposting website tailored to the supportive needs of women living with secondary breast cancer. Overall, this intervention aims to improve quality of life among this growing group of patients through targeted, tailored and accessible information and support. This randomised waiting list control trial aims to evaluate the feasibility of the clinically integrated LIBERATE intervention. Results of participants' online symptom monitoring questionnaires are integrated with their electronic patient record, enabling clinician review and follow up alongside participants' own self-management activities.

Pink Warrior 2: Teleconference-based Gaming Support

Breast CancerPhysical Activity

Breast cancer survivors, from diagnosis until the end of life, go through many transitions. One major transition is the significant decrease of physical activity immediately after diagnosis. Despite the known benefits of physical activity-speeding recovery time and reduced cancer recurrence risk-only 1 in 3 survivors met physical activity recommendations of 150 minutes of moderate-intensity activity per week. Physical activity interventions have shown effectiveness in helping breast cancer survivors increase physical activity during treatment, but limited evidence-based physical activity interventions have been incorporated into the clinic and community. To address this limitation, the investigators are partnering with the UTMB breast cancer support group to conduct a 12-week physical activity intervention, Pink Warrior. The goal of this study is to compare an intervention that uses active games versus an intervention uses pedometer to encourage physical activity such as walking within breast cancer survivors in active cancer treatment. The study will include breast cancer survivor between the ages of 18 - 70 whom currently gets less than 150 minutes of planned physical activity per week and received a breast cancer diagnosis within 0 to 6 months. Participants will be randomized to participate in the support group using the active video game-based physical activity intervention (Wii and Xbox active games) or to participate in the existing UTMB breast cancer support group with pedometers (Digi-Walker CW-700/701). The investigators hypothesize that by engaging in active video gaming, breast cancer survivors will be motivated to initiate and maintain physical activity during treatment. This will ultimately increase functional capacity and prevent functional disability in breast cancer survivors.

Study to Evaluate Patient Reported Outcome (PRO) and Physical Activity in Japanese Patients With...

Breast Cancer

The study is a prospective, multicenter, observational study to evaluate PRO and physical activity using smartphone-based application and wearable device in Japanese patients with HR+/HER2- advanced breast cancer (ABC). Patients will be enrolled into either palbociclib plus endocrine therapy group (Group 1) or endocrine monotherapy group (Group 2) based on the discretion of the treating physician under routine clinical practice. Total target number of patients is approximately one-hundred in this study (About 50 patients in each group). Enrolled patients will download a smartphone-based application for electronic PRO (ePRO), be provided access to and trained on the use of the application to complete baseline, weekly, and cycle-based assessments for 6 cycles (24 weeks). In addition, enrolled patients will be provided with wearable device and requested to wear the device at all-times, except of while bathing and sleeping, for 6 cycles (24 weeks).

PREMs on PROMs in Breast Disease (PREMs_PROMs)

Breast DiseaseBreast Cancer1 more

In recent years, large interest in the conduct and focus of clinical trials has focused to patient related outcomes and value-based healthcare. Patient Reported Outcome MeasureS, (PROMs) has become one of the standard instruments used for measuring outcomes; multiple PROMS have been extensively validated and are used in many clinical studies, but also in clinical routine. Additionally, Patient Reported Experience MeasureS (PREMS) allow for real-time feedback on the integration of care and can subsequently drive changes in health provision systems. In the present trial, the mode of delivery of PROMS is examined in terms of effectivity and patient experience (PREMS) in the setting of breast disease.

Project Insight: Feasibility of a Breast Cancer Screening Decision Support Tool

Breast Cancer ScreeningOncology2 more

The purpose of this investigation is to conduct a feasibility study to evaluate the potential for implementing the developed decision support tool with Latina, Black, and non-Latina White women. The investigators will collect feasibility data and assess the use of the decision support tool with end-users. The aim is to determine if women using the decision support tool make more informed choices measured by knowledge, attitudes, and intentions.
