UFT/LV Maintenance Vs Observation in Metastatic Breast Cancer Responsive to Chemotherapy
Breast CancerTo compare maintenance therapy to observation in metastatic breast cancer patients responding (or stabilized) after 1st-line chemotherapy. Main endpoint is disease-free survival. Secondary endpoints are overall survival and tolerance. A total of 200 patients will be included.
Study of Exemestane After Anastrozole or Letrozole Treatment of Postmenopausal Women With Hormone...
Breast CancerThe purpose of this study is to compare the rate of disease free survival (DFS) and distant disease free survival (DDFS) at 5 years in postmenopausal women with hormone receptor and lymph node positive breast cancer randomized between anastrozole/letrozole 5 years and anastrozole/letrozole 2-3 years switching to exemestane 3-2 years.
Effect on Clip Markers After Vacuum-Assisted Biopsy by Postprocedure Mammogram
Breast CancerPrimary Objective: - To perform a prospective study to determine if there is a different in the marker clip migration if the first post-biopsy mammogram was performed in the same projection as the core biopsy versus in the orthogonal projection.
Evaluate the Use of Paravertebral Block in Reconstructive Breast Surgery
Breast CancerPrimary Objective: To determine whether the use of a paravertebral block in patients undergoing reconstructive surgery for breast cancer results in decreased immediate post-operative pain compared with patients having only general anesthesia. Secondary Objectives: To determine whether the use of a paravertebral block in patients undergoing reconstructive surgery for breast cancer results in decreased post-operative pain in the first 24 hours after surgery compared with patients having only general anesthesia. To determine whether the use of a paravertebral block in patients undergoing reconstructive surgery for breast cancer results in decreased post-operative nausea and vomiting in the first 24 hours as compared with patients having only general anesthesia. To determine whether the use of a paravertebral block in patients undergoing reconstructive surgery for breast cancer results in a decreased length of hospital stay compared with patients having only general anesthesia.
Evaluation of Breast CT
Breast CancerThe investigators have studied the potential of breast computed tomography (bCT) for breast imaging under an NIH-funded Biomedical Research Partnership (BRP) grant (R01 EB002138-10), and 4 breast CT scanners have been developed that have imaged over 600 women to date (under more than one IRB-approved protocol). The BRP grant cannot be renewed, and with this (resubmitted) R01 grant application, the investigators seek to finalize the investigators' research in breast CT - The specific aims have been significantly modified as a result of the first critique, and the investigators now focus on a narrower set of remaining issues. This version of the protocol will add breast magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to the experimental procedures.
Evaluation of a 3-D Tomosynthesis Mammography System Used in Conjunction With Conventional 2-D Digital...
Breast CancerThis was a multi-center, prospective clinical trial in which the subject was her own control. Approximately 950-1400 female subjects were enrolled at five (5) sites in the United States. Subjects were from either a Screening population or a biopsy population and were imaged first on a conventional 2D full filed digital mammography system then on a 3D tomosynthesis system. The resulting images from the this portion of the study were then randomized into a reader study. The purpose of this clinical study was to compare the 3-D tomosynthesis system used in conjunction with a conventional 2-D digital imaging system (2-D plus 3-D images) to the conventional 2-D digital imaging system (2-D images), and to determine whether the 2-D plus 3-D images compared to the 2-D images alone would: Reduce the recall rate And/or Improve ROC area due to improved breast cancer detection and/or improved lesion classification.
Docetaxel Followed by Capecitabine Versus Concomitant Docetaxel/Capecitabine for Early Stage Breast...
Breast NeoplasmsThe purpose of this study is to identify new chemotherapy treatment regimens with better response rates and to find out if the combination of docetaxel and capecitabine can shrink the size of breast tumors and preserve the breast.
Study of Sentinel Lymph Node Assessment Following Previous Surgical Biopsy for Early Breast Cancer...
Breast CancerThe purpose of this study is to assess the detection rate and false negative rate of sentinel lymph node biopsy following previous surgical biopsy for early breast cancer diagnosis.
Boost Use in Breast Conservation Radiotherapy
Breast NeoplasmsThis is a two arm randomized study for patients who are undergoing radiotherapy following breast conservation surgery for breast cancer. Local recurrence of breast cancer will be compared for patients receiving boost or no boost radiotherapy.
Continuous Serrates Plane Block in Axillary Dissection
Breast CancerPatients undergone to axillary dissection during breast surgery with a PECS I, II block will be randomized to receive either a serratus plane continuous local anesthetic infusion through a multiple hole catheter or nothing. Both groups will receive a patient controlled analgesia with morphine.
