Mobile Health (mHealth) Black Women With Breast Cancer

Breast Neoplasms

This research study will test whether a series of video clips with breast cancer information improves knowledge of breast cancer, breast cancer treatment and living with breast cancer. Questionnaires will be completed to learn if the videos are helpful and pleasant to watch.

Dual Integrin αvβ3 and GRPR Targeting PET Imaging in Breast Cancer Patients

Breast Cancer

This is an open-label positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) study to investigate the diagnostic performance and evaluation efficacy of 68Ga-NOTA-BBN-RGD in breast cancer patients. A single dose of 111-148 Mega-Becquerel (MBq) 68Ga-NOTA-BBN-RGD will be injected intravenously. Visual and semiquantitative method will be used to assess the PET/CT images.

Clinical Application of Dual Sentinel Lymph Node Staining Method in Breast Cancer Patients

Breast Cancer

This study aimed to compare detection rate between dual sentinel node staining method using mixture of indocyanine green (ICG) with radioisotope(RI), and RI only. To identify the first lymph node(s) along the lymphatic drainage pathway from the primary tumor in the breast cancer using RI only has several disadvantages such as invisibility, interference. As ICG can be visualized with a fluorescence imaging system, we expects dual sentinel lymph node staining method had better outcomes.

Attitudes, Beliefs, and Preferences of Older Stage I-III Breast Cancer Survivors Towards Physical...

Cancer SurvivorStage IA Breast Cancer6 more

This clinical trial studies the attitudes, beliefs, and preferences of older stage I-III breast cancer survivors towards physical activity. Studies have shown that older African-American and women of lower socioeconomic status are more likely than their Caucasian counterparts and women of higher socioeconomic status to have functional disability at the time of a new breast cancer diagnosis. Functional disability is the inability to independently complete activities of daily living and increases health care costs and deaths. The poor health status of older African-Americans with breast cancer has been suggested to diminish the long-term benefits from cancer treatment, resulting in older African-American women more likely to die from breast cancer compared to Caucasians. Questionnaires that measure the attitudes, beliefs, and preferences of older breast cancer survivors may lead to the development of an intervention that increases physical activity, improves functional and health status, and improves breast cancer treatment benefits translating to improved survival among older breast cancer survivors in general, and in particular among older African-American and lower socioeconomic status women with breast cancer.

Satisfaction Assessment of Patients With Local Breast Cancer When Using Cosmetics During Chemotherapy...

Local Breast Cancer Patients

The purpose of this study is to assess the satisfaction, the observance, the intolerance, the qualitative appreciation and the expectations of the patients related to the use of the cosmetic products ("Tendre Caresse au cold cream" body cream and "Crème de douche" face and body cleanser from Cosmétosource) during chemotherapy and post-treatment thermal cure

Transcranial Direct Current Stimulation (tDCS) to Improve Fatigue and Cognitive Function

Breast CancerFatigue

This research is being done to determine whether transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) can improve fatigue and certain thinking skills in women with breast cancer receiving chemotherapy. Transcranial Direct Current Stimulation is a form of brain stimulation during which low amounts of electrical current are delivered to the brain using electrodes attached to the scalp. The idea of using electrical stimulation to affect neurological symptoms has been around for more than 100 years with the first reported use in 1801. Since the 1960s, tDCS has been used in research for a variety of reasons including stroke rehabilitation, memory enhancement and for depression. People aged 18 or older who are currently receiving chemotherapy with docetaxel and who are experiencing fatigue may join.

Nurse AMIE: A Tablet Based Supportive Care Platform in Metastatic Breast Cancer

Metastatic Breast Cancer

The investigators propose to build and test a supportive care software platform called Nurse AMIE (Addressing Metastatic Individuals Everyday) to be provided to metastatic breast cancer patients on Android Tablets. This program will be tested in 50 metastatic breast cancer patients within the Penn State Cancer Institute's 28 county catchment area. The company with whom the investigator will partner to develop this application is already working with multiple investigators at the institution (Webster Group).

An Observational Prospective Cohort Study Using an Actigraphy Device.

Neoplasm of Breast (Disorder)Carcinoma of Prostate (Disorder)

This study focuses on whether or not physical activity and sleep quality correlate with the health of prostate and breast cancer patients. The activity data will be acquired using wearable actigraphy devices, which the subjects will wear for the duration of seven days. The sleep quality will be measured using a combination of actigraphy and the mandarin version of the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) and the Quality of Life Questionnaire (QLQ). By using this combination, the investigators will not only measure the objective physical activity while the patient is asleep, but also the subjective sleep quality. The questionnaire will also function as control data for the accuracy of the actigraphy device. This study will recruit approximately 30 breast or prostate cancer patients. The participants will wear a wearable actigraphy device for 7 consecutive days, which will provide accurate and objective movement and sleep data. This data is linked to a unique Identification number (ID), which will be noted in the participant's case report. This case report also contains the participant's information and answers to the questionnaires.

Improving Adherence to Recommended Surveillance in Breast Cancer Survivors

Breast Cancer

Evidence-based guidelines recommend cancer surveillance procedures for breast cancer survivors including physical examination, mammography, breast self-exam, and gynecologic follow-up. The early detection of recurrent and new cancers can best be achieved through the combined, on schedule use of these surveillance procedures. Yet, data suggest that up to 55% of breast cancer survivors do not undergo these procedures as recommended. This study tests a telephone-based psychosocial intervention aimed at improving adherence to recommended surveillance in breast cancer survivors. The psychosocial intervention for improving adherence is compared to treatment as usual.

The Breast Surgery EnLight and LightPath Imaging System Study

Breast Neoplasms

This study will correlate the resection margin status of the breast cancer tumour (WLE specimen), cavity shavings (if any) and breast cavity, and the metastatic status of axillary lymph nodes as determined by EnLight, LightPath, and histopathology. This is a pilot study to assess feasibility before proceeding to a pivotal study to evaluate the use of these imaging systems in clinical practice.
