Adaptation of a Knowledges Exchange Portal Between (KEP) Healers and Patients : Obstacles and Sources...

Breast Cancer

The project is imbued with the whole problematic of patient follow-up and patient support, taking into account the experiences and needs of breast cancer patients. It concerns the dissemination of knowledge through the implementation of a specific clinical innovation designed to optimizing breast cancer patient pathway. The " Patients en réseau " association offers us to participate at the web platform evolution Mon Réseau Cancer du Sein in adapting it. The feasibility study focuses on (1) the platform utilization and (2) sources and obstacles to its utilization in the French context

Preoperative Localization of Sentinel Lymph Node in Breast Cancer Patients By Novel Computed Tomography-Lymphography...

Breast Cancer

A question is raised about the possibility of accurate localization of the SLN (sentinel lymph node) detected by CTLG (Computed Tomography Lymphography) which offers a detection rate of 100% in many studies In Oncology center, Mansoura University (OCMU), the surgical oncology unit had a previous experience in using charcoal for localization of non-palpable suspicious breast lesions and it showed promising results in comparison to traditional localization methods In addition, we had another study using silver wire for localization of breast masses before neoadjuvant therapy. In the study, the investigators will study the usage of both methods as preoperative localization methods for the SLN detected by CT lymphography in breast cancer patients The investigators suppose that this method can offer two main advantages over the traditional SLN intraoperative methods which are; saving operative time needed for the intraoperative procedure as well as solving the problem of the need for complex logistic preparations especially for the usage of radioisotope method.

No Axillary Surgery for Early Breast Cancer.

Breast Cancer Invasive

After breast cancer (BC) screening was introduced for all Swedish women in 1989-90 the number of early invasive BC, clin N0 rose dramatically. For these BC it was known that only 10 % or less was N+ after axillary dissection and the morbidity for axillary surgery was substantial. Omitting axillary dissection in a randomized trial was ruled out because of anticipated few events. A national cohort was decided for invasive unifocal BC, histological grade 1 or 2, T=max 10mm, free margins, clin node neg. No axillary dissection should be undertaken. This was before the Sentinel Node era. Adjuvant treatment could be given according to regional guidelines for early breast cancer. Not uniform concerning postoperative radiotherapy and antihormonal treatment. Follow-up was clinical the first 5 years with mammography and then by hospital records and national Death register. Primary aim: Number of axillary recurrence and BC specific survival.

Relationship Between Genetic Polymorphism and Postoperative Nausea and Vomiting in Chinese Han Population...

Breast NeoplasmsAnesthesia1 more

Postoperative nausea and vomiting ( PONV ) is one of the common complications after general anesthesia while genetic factors may play an important role in Postoperative nausea and vomiting. In this study, the investigators investigated the relationship between gene polymorphism ( such as single nucleotide polymorphism ) of the gene HTR3A ( 5-hydroxytryptamine receptor 3A ), HTR3B ( 5-hydroxytryptamine receptor 3B ), HTR3C ( 5-hydroxytryptamine receptor 3C ) and TACR1 ( tachykinin receptor 1 ) etc. with nausea and vomiting after general anesthesia. Simultaneously, the investigators explored the influencing factors of nausea and vomiting.

Metabolomics and Breast Cancer Risk in a Nested Case-control Study of the Cancer Prevention Study-II...

Breast Cancer

This study aims to investigate diet, lifestyles, serum metabolomics in relation to breast cancer risk in a nested case-control study including 1,547 postmenopausal women from the Cancer Prevention Study II (CPS-II) Nutrition Cohort. The CPS-II Nutrition Cohort is a prospective cohort study of cancer incidence and mortality among 184,185 men and women, established by the American Cancer Society in 1992. Participants completed a self-administered baseline questionnaire in 1992/1993 including demographic, medical, and lifestyle information. Follow-up questionnaires were sent to living participants in 1997 and every other year to update exposure information and ascertain newly diagnosed cancers. From June 1998 through May 2001, blood specimens were collected from 21,963 women. All participants completed a short questionnaire and provided informed consent at the time of blood draw. Non-fasting whole blood collected from each participant was shipped chilled overnight to a central repository, processed, and frozen in liquid nitrogen at approximately -130 °C for long-term storage. Of the 21,963 women who provided a blood sample, investigators identified 782 postmenopausal women diagnosed with invasive breast cancer between blood draw date and June 2011 who had not been diagnosed with cancer (other than nonmelanoma skin cancer) before blood draw or prior to their breast cancer diagnosis. Controls were 1:1 matched to cases on date of birth, date of blood draw, and race and were cancer free at the date of case diagnosis. Seventeen women who were selected as controls were later diagnosed with breast cancer, at which time they became a case. A total of 1,547 postmenopausal women were included in the breast cancer nested case-control study.

Prospective Comparison of Breast MRI vs Contrast Mammography Prior to Surgery in Breast Cancer Patients...

Breast Cancer

In current clinical practice, women with biopsy proven breast cancer can be sent for breast magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) or contrast enhanced mammography (CEM) prior to surgery in order to delineate the extent of a known cancer and / or assess for the presence of occult secondary cancers. This study seeks to compare the global costs (based on actual reimbursement rates) of CEM/breast MRI, downstream imaging testing, and diagnostic procedures in women randomized to breast MRI versus CEM. Secondary goals are to compare patient preferences for CEM vs MRI and clinically relevant outcomes (e.g. conversion from lumpectormy to mastecomy).
