Asthmatic Subjects Could Live Without Short Acting beta2 Agonists
Asthma ChronicSince 2006 there was a plateau in world wide mortality from asthma. Overreliance in Short Acting Beta2 Agonists (SABA) was associated with increased risk of death from asthma. Long acting beta agonists (LABA) alone was not permitted as treatment for asthma as it was determined by FDA by the "black box". By contrast SABA does not have a "black box", despite similar overuse alerts associated with increased risk of death from asthma. the investigators want to know if exist asthmatic subjects that do use another rescue medication; not SABA, and to compare their features, Asthma Control Test (ACT), and lung function in a outpatient facility. First consecutive visits at outpatient Pulmonary Section of asthmatic subjects were described. Asthma Control Test (ACT) that was routinely used to assess asthma and spirometry were performed.
Clinical Characteristics, Treatment and Prognosis of Chest Tightness Variant Asthma
AsthmaChest Syndrome8 moreAsthma, abbreviation for bronchial asthma, is one of the common chronic airways disease that threatens human health. Typical symptoms of asthma are recurrent wheezing, shortness of breath, chest tightness and cough, usually occurring at night or early morning. However, there are still some patients with only persistent clinical manifestations of chest tightness. Concerned about this group of patients, we presented a subgroup of bronchial asthma, namely, chest tightness variant asthma (CTVA). This asthma subgroup usually lacks asthma-specific clinical features such as wheezing, shortness of breath, wheezing, and therefore often misdiagnosed for a long time. In order to further understand the clinical characteristics, pathogenesis, and prognosis of patients with CTVA, we conducted a national multicenter observation study to further understand CTVA. Finally, we plan to clarify whether CTVA is a relatively independent asthma phenotype. Meanwhile, reducing misdiagnosis and perform an appropriate treatment of CTVA.

In addition to assessing the feasibility of such a study the investigators will collect data on exploratory outcomes including the ability of breath biomarkers to distinguish between controlled and exacerbated states and their ability to differentiate between triggers of exacerbation.

Pediatric Ease of Use ELLIPTA Items
AsthmaA range of devices has been developed to administer inhaled therapy for asthma, including dry powder inhaler (DPI) devices. ELLIPTA is a DPI that is preloaded with a drug therapy to treat asthmatic subjects. The objective of this study is to revise ease of use items developed for adults to be appropriate for completion by pediatric subjects in future clinical trials and to evaluate the newly developed items in subjects with asthma aged 5 to 11 years and their caregivers. This is a cross-sectional, qualitative study that will involve pediatric subjects with asthma who are currently using an asthma maintenance inhaler and their caregivers. Two rounds of repetitive cognitive interviews will be conducted with 16 subjects in each interview set. Each interview will last approximately 45 minutes. Data provided by pediatric subjects and their caregivers during interview will be collected as field notes and audio recordings which will be transcribed.

AsthmaHealthy"Within-day and Between-day Repeatability of the Breath Pattern in Healthy Children and in Children With Moderate Asthma" is an observational prospective study in outpatient clinic of Pediatric Allergology & Pulmonology (PAP) within the Institute of Biomedicine and Molecular Immunology (IBIM) of the National Research Council (CNR) of Palermo (IBIM CNR), Italy. The electronic nose (E-nose) has been proposed as a novel, non-invasive tool to evaluate the level of airway inflammation for different respiratory diseases, especially in children. To date, there are no data on the within-day and the between-day repeatability of the breath pattern in healthy children and in children with moderate asthma. The breath pattern will be analyzed by collecting, for each child, three samples of the breath through the E-nose. Within-day repeatability will be assessed using two consecutive measurements (the second one after 30 minutes). Between-day repeatability will be assessed using a third measurement repeated after 7 days. The study is expected to provide information about the accuracy of E-nose measurements for a child population.
Seinäjoki Adult Asthma Study
AsthmaSeinäjoki Adult Asthma Study is a single-centre 12-year follow-up study of a total cohort of 259 patients having new-onset asthma that was diagnosed at adult age. The study was divided in two parts: the collection of the original cohort (phase I;n=259) and follow-up visit (phase II; n=203). The aim of this study is to increase the understanding on the diagnostics and diagnostic process, organisation of the long-term asthma care, therapeutic outcomes, prognosis and the factors affecting the prognosis of new-onset asthma diagnosed at adult age.
