Cardiac Safety Study of Entinostat in Men and Women With Advanced Solid Tumors
NeoplasmsNeoplasms15 moreThe purpose of this study is to evaluate the effect of entinostat on heart rate and other electrocardiogram (ECG) parameters. This study will also evaluate the safety and tolerability of entinostat, as well as pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic parameters.
Cost-consequence Analysis of Parenchymal Stapling Device Versus Hand-sewing for Pulmonary Lobectomy...
Malignant Neoplasm of Bronchus or LungUnspecifiedThe purpose of this study is to compare the efficacy and cost difference of using a parenchymal stapling device versus hand sewing for a pulmonary lobectomy in patients with lung disease (mass or others).

NeoplasmsNeoplasms14 moreThe objectives of this study are to explore different dosing levels and schedules of entinostat in combination with pembrolizumab in patients with advanced solid tumors, in terms of safety, tolerability, pharmacokinetics (PK), impact on immune correlatives, and efficacy
Automatic CT-to-patient Registration During Navigated Bronchoscopy and EBUS
Bronchial NeoplasmsBronchoscopic diagnosis and staging of lung cancer must be gentle and quick, and requires optimal sampling precision.Electromagnetic navigation systems are promising for intraoperative guiding based on maps made of preoperative CT images. Navigation accuracy depends largely on correct alignment of preoperative images to the patient´s position in space during endoscopy. In this study, the accuracy of a new fast and automatic image-to-patient registration method during the initial phase of bronchoscopy is assessed in patients referred for lung cancer investigation.
Evaluation of a New Open Source Virtual Bronchoscope Navigation System
Bronchial NeoplasmsTo evaluate the feasibility of the Fraxinus Virtual Bronchoscope Navigation (VBN) System in the bronchoscopic access to target lesions. The study emphasizes the system´s efficacy in diagnostics of peripheral pulmonary lesions and the ease of use for the operator.
ThoHSpEkt Thoracoscopic Ectomy of Radioactively Marked Pulmonary Nodules With Free-hand SPECT
Solitary Pulmonary NoduleBronchial NeoplasmsTitle ThoHSpEkt Study Design Pilot Study concerning the technical operative methods and a phase II study concerning the radiopharmaceutical (therapeutic-explorative study with an approved drug in a new indication) Location Kantonsspital St.Gallen Aim Proof of feasibility of thoracoscopic ectomy of radioactively marked pulmonary nodules with the help of free-hand SPECT. Background In the Cantonal Hospital of St.Gallen an average of 30 - 40 patients will be operated with thoracoscopic ectomy for a pulmonary nodule. When localisation of the nodule is not possible a switch to minithoracotomy is performed. Study intervention Marking of pulmonary nodules with radioactivity. Free-hand SPECT guided surgery Risks Risks of bronchoscopic or CT-intervention Radiation risk (minimal) Rational for patient number 10 patients for each group are enough to prove the feasibility, to manage difficulties and to record complications Duration approximately 24 months.
Early Detection of Lung Cancer With Machine Learning Based on Routine Clinical Investigations
Adenocarcinoma of Lung; Bronchial Neoplasms; Early Detection of Cancer; Machine LearningThis observational, cross-sectional study in lung cancer patients and lung cancer-free controls aims to develop a machine learning model for early detection of LC based on routine, widely accessible and minimally invasive clinical investigations. The model with adequate predictive performance could later be used in clinical practice as an aid in defining the optimal population and timing for lung cancer screening program.
The EPIC Trial The Elderly Patient Individualized Chemotherapy Trial
Stage IVNSCLC9 moreThis is a randomized phase III trial that will randomize elderly patients(70 years of age and older) who are not considered eligible for standard doublet or triplet regimens. In a 2:1 fashion, patients will be randomized to the customization arm or the standard arm, respectively. This trial will be offered to patients who are previously untreated for stage IV NSCLC. The primary objective is to evaluate if chemotherapy selection based on histology and tumoral molecular determinants ERCC1, RRM1 and TS (arm A, the experimental arm) results in superior outcome in elderly patients with untreated, advanced NSCLC compared to standard of care treatments (arm B, the standard arm).

Survivin and Fibulin-3 in Benign and Malignant Respiratory Diseases
Bronchial Neoplasm BenignPurpose: Survivin is a common member of the inhibitors of the apoptosis protein (IAP) family with a dual role in promoting cell proliferation and preventing apoptosis. Fibulin-3, a matrix glycoprotein, was recently presented as a promising novel biomarker for malignant pleural mesothelioma. The aim of this study was to validate the expression levels of survivin and fibulin-3 in benign and malignant respiratory diseases. Patients and methods: The study included 73 patients, with various benign and malignant respiratory diseases. For validation of the data, a control group including 20 healthy subjects was chosen. The clinical and radiological assessments of the included individuals were done. The serum survivin and fibulin-3 levels were measured using ELISA assays kits, while their local expressions in the lung and pleura were assessed using western blot analysis.
