Bronchiectasis and NTM Research Registry
Non-CF BronchiectasisNontuberculosis Mycobacteria (NTM)The Bronchiectasis Research Registry is a consolidated database of non-cystic fibrosis (non-CF) Bronchiectasis and Nontuberculosis Mycobacteria (NTM) patients from multiple clinical institutions.
The Establishment of China Bronchiectasis Registry and Research Collaboration
BronchiectasisThe investigators meant to establish a multi-centered bronchiectasis patient registry for Chinese bronchiectasis patients. This would be the first bronchiectasis registry in China. Patients with all kinds of bronchiectasis would be enrolled.
Evaluation Of The Lung Microbiome In NTM Bronchiectasis
Nontuberculous MycobacteriaBronchiectasisA biomarker cohort study design is proposed to study whether specific airway microbiota alterations are associated with pulmonary Non-tuberculous mycobacteria (NTM) disease. In a cohort of 200 subjects suspected of having pulmonary NTM disease, the investigators will evaluate the airway microbiome using an aliquot of the induced sputum and upper airway samples. Since induced sputum may reflect different regions of the upper/lower airways, the investigators will evaluate the upper and lower airway microbiome in a subgroup (case-control group) of patients using samples obtained through upper airway sampling and bronchoscopy, respectively.
Microbiology and Treatment Outcome of Acute Exacerbation of Bronchiectasis in Hong Kong
BronchiectasisBronchiectasis is a common disease worldwide with a high burden on healthcare resources. In Hong Kong (HK), local microbiological and clinical data regarding acute exacerbation of bronchiectasis (AEB) is lacking, in particular the frequency of pseudomonas aeruginosa (PA) in AEB is yet to be elucidated. A better understanding of the microbiology of AEB will provide evidence for judicious use of appropriate antibiotics in patients hospitalized for AEB to facilitate treatment and discharge. This study aims to elucidate the microbiology of AEB using both traditional culture and newer molecular multiplex methods, identify factors associated with PA infection, and describe the management and treatment outcome of AEB in HK
Feasibility Study of the AffloVest in Bronchiectasis
BronchiectasisFeasibility study of High Frequency Chest Wall Oscillation (HFCWO) using the AffloVest in 30 patients with Bronchiectasis over a 6 week period. Outcome measures include lung function, quality of life questionnaire, High resolution computed Tomography and visual analogue scale for ease of clearance.
Assessment of an Exhaled Breath Test to Detect Bronchiectasis
BronchiectasisTo investigate whether the breath test is able to detect bronchiectasis using breathomics. This study was conducted with a prospective specimen collection, evaluator-blinded, case-controlled clinical study designed to evaluate the accuracy of breathomics to diagnosis of bronchiectasis in adults.
Study of Safety, Tolerability, Pharmacokinetics and Pharmacodynamics of QBW251 in Subjects With...
BronchiectasisThe purpose of this study is to determine whether potentiating the cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator (CFTR) with QBW251 in patients with bronchiectasis will demonstrate clinical safety and efficacy related to improved mucociliary clearance with reduced bacterial colonization as potential drivers of airway obstruction, reduced airway inflammation, exacerbations and mucus load, improved lung function, clinical symptoms and quality of life to support further development in bronchiectasis.
The Effect of PC945 on Aspergillus or Candida Lung Infections in Patients With Asthma or Chronic...
AsthmaRespiratory Candidiasis3 moreThis study tests the effects of an experimental drug PC945 in people with asthma or other chronic respiratory diseases whose lungs are infected by Aspergillus fungi and Candida yeasts. PC945 may be useful in treating patients infected with Aspergillus as, unlike the usual treatments, it is inhaled into the lung and has been designed to stay there and treat the infection. Participants will continue to receive their usual treatment for their chronic respiratory disease. Half of the participants will receive PC945 and half will receive a placebo. The amount of fungus and yeast in the patients' phlegm will be measured over the course of the study. The study will take place at multiple sites in UK and will include approximately 46 participants. The maximum study duration will be about 16 weeks.
Temperature Recording in Lungs of Volunteers With and Without Pulmonary Diseases
Temperature ChangeBody3 moreThe purpose of the project is to estimate the air temperature in the lungs after a change from room temperature (25℃) to an environment with a constant temperature of 88-92℃ in resp. lung-healthy persons and persons with bronchiectasis.
