The COVID-19 pandemic has undoubtedly elevated levels of stress to people all over the globe, but none more than to the providers on the front-line. The purpose of the study is to first, assess the effects of the pandemic on burnout, team cohesion, and resiliency among healthcare providers battling COVID-19 together in a medical ICU (MICU). Secondly, the investigators hope to then assess the effects of simple positive feedback on transforming culture and attitudes during times of major stress.

Better Together Physician Coaching to Mitigate Burnout in Male-Identifying Trainees

Better Together Physician Coaching ("Better Together", or "BT"), a 4-month, web-based positive psychology multimodal coaching program was built to decrease burnout in medical trainees. Here, the investigators seek to understand it's efficacy in male-identifying trainees at the University of Colorado Aim 1: Implement Better Together in for male-identifying trainees in Graduate Medical Education at the University of Colorado. Aim 2: Assess outcomes: primary: reduce burnout as measured by the Maslach Burnout Index (goal: 10% relative improvement), and secondary: self-compassion, imposter syndrome, flourishing and moral injury. Aim 3: Advance the field of coaching in GME through innovation and dissemination of evidence-based approaches to GME trainee wellbeing.

The Effects of Dog Therapy on Ambulance Staff Burnout Scores.

Problem During the COVID 19 pandemic, NHS staff have become increasingly burned out. Mental health is the leading cause of staff sickness and absence in the NHS. Ambulance trusts have the highest rates of sickness across all NHS professions. Reduced staffing levels directly impacts service delivery. Staff struggling with poor mental health are more likely to make errors, have reduced empathy, and patients have lower patient satisfaction. The Solution? Dog therapy is used in hospital settings around the world for patient benefit and staff welfare. Evidence suggests dog therapy improves mood and reduces anxiety. Yorkshire Ambulance Service (YAS) has a small, but established dog therapy scheme, organised by the health and wellbeing team. This research aims to observe if dog therapy affects symptoms of burnout in YAS staff. We will use two sets of staff: Patient facing staff Staff with remote patient contact What will participants need to do? Participants will be given a Copenhagen Burnout Inventory - a questionnaire focusing on three factors: Personal burnout Work related burnout Client related burnout Burnout will be measured in 4 categories; no/low, moderate, high and severe burnout. The questionnaire will be completed at the beginning and end of 8 weeks of dog therapy. Some optional demographic questions Number of sessions attended Engagement with occupational health services Dog Ownership We will calculate the difference in severity of burnout between baseline and after 8 weeks of dog therapy. A PPI group has been consulted on methodology, wording of plain English summary and the dissemination plan. This research will be distributed to all interested participants, published in an appropriate journal presented at conferences, and presented in the ICA dissemination event.

Fostering Optimal Regulation of Emotion for Prevention of Secondary Trauma (FOREST)

FOREST is a positive emotion skills program designed to target mental health and coping needs for frontline violence prevention workers at READI Chicago. Ten skills are taught over a period of nine months during existing meetings and wellness activities, as well as in online modules in READI's Learning Management System (LMS). Through infusing the FOREST skills throughout READI, we hope to inspire organizational culture change that will emphasize the importance of wellbeing and enhance resilience, therefore reducing burnout and turnover.

Comparison of Two Brief Mindfulness Intervention for Stress, Anxiety and Burnout in Mental Health...

The aim of this study is to examine the effectiveness of two mindfulness interventions for stress, anxiety and burnout in mental health professionals. Participants will receive the treatments in reverse order: a brief intervention based on body-centered exercises and another brief intervention based on sitting meditation. It is hypothesized that both interventions will decrease stress and anxiety levels and professional burnout, with mindfulness body-centered exercises being at least as effective as mindfulness meditations.

This study is a prospective, interventional cohort study enrolling up to 50 residents from the Internal Medicine Residency Program to look at the relationship between coffee and resident burnout.

This trial will help inform the study team if dissemination the intervention to a large number of nurses in a short time period is feasible, and if the intervention has evidence of a clinical impact.

Music Therapy on Burnout Reduction in Nurses

This study aims to investigate the effects of music intervention in relieving burnout among nurses. Burnout is a condition of deceased job performance resulting from increased stress in the workplace.This study is to attempt to examine whether music therapy would decrease burnout symptoms and whether there would be a greater decrease of burnout in the music intervention group than the non-music intervention group. In this randomized controlled trial study, we will be using a convenience sample of nurses from Emergency room, medical unit, surgical unit, pediatric, ICU, labor and delivery at the Majuro hospital. Participant will be met for three session each week for a five week period. The participant will be divided into an experimental group (group A) using a music relaxation intervention and control group (group B) with usual care. The study will used the Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI) with a pretest/post-test design measuring burnout at the beginning before the first session starts and at the end of the last session ends. We hypothesized that clinical nurses who will received music intervention will experience reduction in burnout compared with those in control group will not.

Better Together: an Online Physician Coaching Program for Medical Trainees

This is a single-institution randomized controlled trial. 101 female residents were recurited from the University of Colorado School of Medicine. They enrolled beginning in January 2021 and participated in the coaching program for 6 months via a web-based system. Participants were randomized into either the intervention or wait-list control arm. Participants in the intervention arm began the 6-month coaching program in January, 2021. Participants in the wait-list control arm have received no additional resources from the Better Together program between January and June 2021. The wait-list control group was invited to begin the 6-month coaching program in July 2021. In December 2021, participants from both the intervention and wait-list control groups will be invited to complete a 2nd post survey (identical to the post-survey from June 2021). There will be no incentive for completion of the 2nd post survey. Finally, the longitudinal effect of the program will be assessed by offering the same survey measuring wellbeing via various indices to the intervention arm at 6 months (1/2022), 12 months (7/2022) and 18 months (1/2023) after their intervention. Participation in this survey will be completely voluntary and not incentivized/compensated.
