Reduction of Opioid Dose Using Conditioning & Open-Label Placebo (COLP) in Patients With Spinal...

Spinal Cord InjuriesPolytrauma1 more

The use of conditioning open-label placebo (COLP) will be studied as a dose extension method to lower opioid dosage in patients with spinal cord injury, polytrauma, and burn injury. The goal is to provide the same level of pain relief with a reduced opioid dose to diminish adverse effects as well as the risk of addiction associated with narcotic treatment.

Use of Platelet-rich Plasma in Second-degree Superficial Burns

Burns Degree Second

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) obtained from the patient's blood has been used in many clinical and experimental studies, primarily wound healing, and successful results have been achieved. PRP has been used in various studies in the treatment of burn wounds, and positive results have been obtained. However, investigators did not find any study or publication about the use of PRP in second-degree superficial burns in our screening. Investigators planned a prospective randomized controlled and multicenter study to investigate the positive effects of PRP in the treatment of second-degree superficial burn.

Examine the Validity of a Panel of Objective Burn Scar Measurement Tools

BurnsScar1 more

Reliable scar assessment is essential not only when designing clinical trials to investigate the efficacy of new and existing scar therapies, but also in everyday, clinical practice, to examine the progress of our patients' care. Subjective assessments are extremely important; they demonstrate to the patient the changes and improvements in their scars since the primary burn injury. Nevertheless, clinicians require reliable, validated, and objective tools which can yield measurable and reproducible outcomes. These are ultimately needed to achieve the goal of reducing the physical and psychosocial burden of scarring through compelling research. Previously, a pilot study (BOSS-1) was conducted in 55 patients with post burn hypertrophic scars. The investigators measured, among other parameters, scar thickness, density, and pliability, using a panel of objective scar assessment tools, alongside standard subjective measurements (questionnaire-based), and skin biopsy assessments. Measurements were performed at a single time point which varied from 3 months to 6 years post burn injury. This work indicated that measuring scar thickness, pliability and colour together, may provide a global scar objective score. BOSS-2 is a multi-centre study that will validate the preliminary findings in BOSS-1.

Whole Body Vibration Training for Diabetic Patients With Burn Injury

Burn Injury

Burn injury as well as diabetes mellitus (DM) induce physical functional and psychological impairments. Lower limb burn involving Foot are still a challenging heath condition because of its important sensory role. Balance is disturbed either in patients with lower limb burn injury or diabetic patients. This study aime to compare between the effects whole body vibrational training and Yoga exercises on postural balance, and Activities-specific Balance Confidence in in type II diabetic Patients with foot burn

Evaluation of Antimicrobial Soft Silicone, Silver Containing, Foam Dressing, Mepilex Border Ag,...

Burns

The investigation is designed as an open, non-controlled, post-marketing investigation. Subjects with at least one second degree burn less than 9.5x15 cm in size at 1-3 sites will be included. The subject is allowed to have more than one burn on the body but only one should be included in the investigation. Each subject will be followed/assessed according to normal hospital routine 1-3 times per week for a maximum of 3 weeks or until desired treatment effect is obtained if that occurs earlier. All dressing changes will be done according to clinical routine and will follow the IFU (instruction for use). All dressing changes will be registered in a dressing log. Additional compression bandaging, gauze wrap, or such are allowed and should be reported as well
