Diet Quality and Coronary Artery Calcification in Adults With Heterozygous Familial Hypercholesterolemia...

HypercholesterolemiaFamilial2 more

The overarching objective is to evaluate the relationship between diet and coronary artery calcification in patients with heterozygous familial hypercholesterolemia (HeFH). We will recruit adults with HeFH. They will have to complete questionnaires on diet, medication and lifestyle. Coronary artery calcification will be measured in each patient using a CT scan. Physiological and biochemical data will be collected.

Contrast-Enhanced Mammography for the Evaluation of Mammographic Microcalcifications

Breast Carcinoma

This clinical trial evaluates the added role of contrast-enhanced mammography (CEM), as well as imaging and blood biomarkers, for predicting the presence or absence of high-grade ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) or invasive cancer on pathology. Screening mammography is the mainstay of population-wide early breast cancer detection, and mammography-detected cancers are usually of an earlier stage, giving women the best chance of survival. However, the main drawbacks of this type of screening are false positive results and potential over-diagnosis of breast cancer. Suspicious microcalcifications detected with mammography pose a particular diagnostic problem, as they may be associated with invasive and high-grade in-situ cancers like DCIS, but are more often benign or require further workup to verify diagnosis. As such, microcalcifications detected by mammography pose a risk of both over-diagnosis and underestimation of disease severity. This study evaluates the impact of using CEM, compared to standard full field digital mammography (FFDM) for the management of suspicious microcalcifications and prediction of breast cancer in women with this finding.

A Registered Cohort Study on Brain Calcification

Brain Calcification

Brain calcification is a common neuroimaging feature in patients with metabolic, neurological, or developmental disorders, infectious diseases, traumatic or toxic history, as well as in otherwise normal older people. To understand the clinical and genetic characteristics of brain calcification, we establish a cohort of brain calcification to follow up patients with brain calcification.

Shockwave Induced Attenuation of Calcified Plaques Quantified With OCT

Coronary Artery Calcification

The goal of this observational, prospective, multicenter study is to explore local action of coronary calcium fragmentation exerted by endovascular lithotripsy by images acquired with OCT, in patients with coronary artery calcifications responsible for significant stenosis, candidate to PCI. The main question it aims to answer, is the ability of Shockwave System to reduce calcium density in the Region of Interest (ROI) of the vessel wall.

Use of Discarded Surgery Human Tissue Specimens for Basic Science Research

OsteoblastVascular Calcification

Although it is now established that calcification process result from the joint and coordinated action of different cell types, many areas of shadow remain regarding the spatio-temporal implementation of these events. Highlighting these processes requires additional research to consider new approaches to clinical management of patients with such conditions. It is in this context that the investigators need to use residual human tissue fragments resulting from surgery which are not intended to be used for clinical-biological management of patients. The use of these pseudonymised human tissues will allow the investigators to conduct in vitro cell culture experiences.

Diagnostic Performance of Coronary Calcification Detection on CT Scan

Acute Coronary Syndrome

thoracic pain is one of the most frequent reasons for consulting the emergency room. Chest pain can be a sign of different pathologies with a wide range of severity, from life-threatening aortic dissection or myocardial infarction to chest pain during an anxiety attack. Efficient triage of patients is therefore a crucial issue for emergency physicians in order not to ignore an acute coronary event requiring early and specific management. The investigators seek to evaluate whether a diagnostic strategy based on a thoracic CT scan to rule out coronary calcifications and a single troponin assay can exclude an acute coronary event with sufficient accuracy compared to usual management.

Neutrophil Gelatinase-associated Lipocalin VS Vascular Calcification in Maintenance Hemodialysis...

Chronic Kidney Disease-Mineral and Bone Disorder

The goal of this observational study or clinical trial is to learn about the effect of neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin (NGAL) on vascular calcification in maintenance hemodialysis patients with secondary hyperparathyroidism (SHPT). The main question it aims to answer is: the predictive effects of blood NGAL level on the efficacy of palicalcitol in the treatment of SHPT and the adverse reactions of vascular calcification progression. Participants will be treated with palicalcitol, followed up and undergo routine series of Chronic Kidney Disease-Mineral and Bone Disorder associated tests before and after treatment.

Efficacy of Intralesional Sodium Thiosulfate Versus Intralesional Saline for Dystrophic and Idiopathic...

Calcinosis Cutis

The purpose of our research is to compare the effectiveness of 125mg/50ml sodium thiosulfate (STS) solution to normal saline (0.9% sodium chloride) when injected intralesionally for the treatment of calcinosis cutis. Our specific aim is to assess the response of dystrophic and idiopathic calcinosis cutis to the injections of sodium thiosulfate in our patients.
