Tumor Registry Pancreatic Cancer
Pancreas CancerThe registry aims to collect and analyse information on the antineoplastic treatment of patients with unresectable locally advanced or metastatic pancreatic cancer, treated in palliative intention (cohort 1) and patients with localized, resectable pancreatic cancer treated in neo-adjuvant or adjuvant intention (cohort 2) in daily routine practice in Germany. The registry will follow up patients for two years. It will identify common sequences of treatments used as well as changes in the treatment of the disease. Health-related quality of life will be analysed during the course of the treatment (PanLife). Based on the available data a prognostic score will be developed.

Stomach CancerGall Bladder Cancer3 moreThe purpose with this study is to evaluate treatment with radio chemotherapy (oxaliplatin and capecitabine) given concommitant with radiotherapy in patients with gastrointestinal tumors. The trial consists ot two separate studies; CORGI-U in patients with stomach- bile ducts- gallbladder and pancreas cancer, and CORGI-L in patients with colorectal cancer. CORGI-U will be designed as a phase-I-II-study,in which the first part will be a chemotherapy dose finding study, followed by a phase II part to establish response rates. All subjects receives radiotherapy concommitant. CORGI-L is a phase II trial, in which patients are treated with chemotherapy at fixed doses with radiotherapy concommitant.

Kinetics of Microparticles Under Chemotherapy in Patients With Gastric or Pancreatic Cancer
Pancreatic CancerGastric CancerMicroparticles have recently emerged as a thrombotic risk marker with a potential role in determining which patients are at greatest risk for developing thrombosis. Available data show an increase in the level of microparticles in cancer patients who are undergoing chemotherapy for solid tumors with a possible link to their thrombogenic state. Our study focuses on the kinetics of microparticles under chemotherapy in patients with pancreatic or gastric cancer by serial measurements of microparticles procoagulant activity. Detailed Description: The impact of chemotherapy on microparticles expression will be assessed by measuring their procoagulant activity on blood samples taken during the course of chemotherapy. The thrombotic risk will be evaluated by the score of Khorana in parallel. Microparticles expression in patients with thrombosis will be compared to that in other patients.
High-dose Vitamin D3 in Pancreas Cancer

Clinical studies investigated and demonstrated altered vitamin d tissue in pancreatic cancer. But there is no prospective study evaluating the beneficiary effects of oral supplementation of vitamin d in altered vitamin d tissue from pancreatic cancer. We want to examine the effect of a high dose vitamin D3 therapy vs. a standard base dose vitamin D3 therapy in pancreas cancer patients with a vitamin D deficiency. In case of benefit in our results we could implement vitamin D3 as a supportive standard therapy in pancreatic cancer patients.

Vapreotide in Treating Patients Undergoing Elective Pancreatic Resection

It is not yet known if vapreotide is more effective than no further therapy in preventing side effects of pancreatic resection. PURPOSE: This randomized phase III trial is studying vapreotide to see how well it works compared to a placebo in preventing complications in patients undergoing surgery for pancreatic cancer.
