Stomach Neoplasm

Prospective observational study comparing the use of circular (Orvil) and linear stapler for intracorporeal esophagojejunostomy. Patients with adenocaricinoma involving the esophagogastric junction or the gastric cardia are observed. The two methods of esophagojejunostomy are compared.

Endoscopic Ultrasonographic Staging and Conventional Endoscopic Staging for Depth of Invasion for...

Gastric TumorEarly Gastric Cancer

The accurate prediction of depth of tumor invasion in early gastric cancer is essential for the proper selection of candidates for endoscopic resection. Conventional endoscopy and endoscopic ultrasonography have been useful diagnostic method for depth of invasion in early gastric cancer. However, there has been no prospective comparative study on the accuracy between the 2 methods. Therefore, the investigators prospectively compare the accuracy between the 2 methods regarding prediction of depth of invasion.

Postoperative Morbidity and Mortality After Gastrectomy for Gastric Cancer: Prospective Cohort Study...

Patients Who Underwent Gastrectomy With Lymph Node Dissection for Gastric Cancer

Gastric cancer is still one of the main health care issue and gastrectomy with lymph node dissection is the only chance to be cure. Even though the development and standardization of gastric cancer surgery, the morbidity of gastric cancer surgery was reported around 20% with less than 1% of mortality in East. In contrast, around 40% of morbidity and 10% of mortality was reported in West. There has been several indexes which can define the complications after surgery, but adapting it into clinical practice is sometimes difficult due to the heterogeneous opinion between surgeons. Thus for clear defining the complications after surgery, consensus between many surgeons and prospective cohort study is necessary. The purpose of this study is collecting the complications data after gastric cancer surgery and defining it with every week meeting by at least 6 or more surgeons' discussion.

Nutrition and Lifestyle Study Cohort of Gastric Cancer in China

Gastric Cancer

China has the largest gastric cancer patients population all over the world. Recent reports concluded nutrition status and lifestyle factors were associated with gastric cancer risk, however, the influence of nutrition and lifestyle factors on cancer outcome in gastric cancer survivors is largely unknown. The investigators will explore the impact of nutrition status, life style, dietary pattern, obesity, physical activity, depression, diabetes, aspirin use and vitamin supplement on gastric cancer outcome. The investigators will recruit approximately 50,000 patients as a prospective study cohort. During follow up, the investigators will explore the association of these factors with disease-specific survival, disease-free survival and overall survival of patients. The investigators believe that this project will facilitate the establishment of domestic nutrition and lifestyle data of gastric cancer of China, and the improvement of the quality of clinical management of patients with gastric cancer.

Standardization of D2 Lymphadenectomy and Surgical Quality Control: KLASS-02-QC

Gastric Cancer

Gastric cancer is one of the most common cancers in Korea. Having achieved excellent long-term survival for early gastric cancer patients, there is a growing interest in improving the quality of life of these patients without compromising their prognosis. Laparoscopic surgery for early gastric cancer have been found to be safe and feasible with superior short-term outcomes. Although laparoscopic gastrectomy with D2 lymphadenectomy is being performed for patients with locally advanced gastric cancer; the completeness of the D2 lymphadenectomy during laparoscopic surgery has not been evaluate and no standardized procedure exists. To conduct a clinical trial comparing laparoscopic D2 lymphadenectomy to the open approach, quality control of D2 lymphadenectomy procedure is necessary.

Expression of S100A2 and Trefoil Factor Family Members in Epstein-Barr Virus Related Gastric Cancer...

Gastric Cancer

The investigators hypothesize that aberrant hypermethylation of tumour suppressor genes is an important mechanism for Epstein-Barr Virus (EBV) - related gastric carcinogenesis, the promoter hypermethylation status and the expression of S100A2 and TFF1 might be different between EBV-associated gastric cancer (GC) and non EBV-associated GC.

Severe Complications After Gastrectomy for Esophagogastric Junction and Gastric Cancer

Gastric CancerEsophagogastric Junction Disorder

Gastrectomy is the main treatment for gastric and Siewert type II-III esophagogastric junction (EGJ) cancer. This surgery is associated with significant morbidity. The aim of the present study is to identify the predictors of postoperative morbidity and to evaluate long term survival according to complications. This is a retrospective cohort study.
