High Dose Inorganic Selenium for Preventing Chemotherapy Induced Peripheral Neuropathy

Chemotherapy-induced Peripheral NeuropathyRecurrent Ovarian Carcinoma3 more

This study aims to evaluate the safety and efficacy of high dose inorganic selenium in preventing and relieving chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy (CIPN) in platinum-sensitive recurrent ovarian, fallopian, or primary peritoneal cancer patients. This study will be conducted as a phase III randomized controlled trial in platinum-sensitive recurrent ovarian, fallopian, or primary peritoneal cancer patients who are expected to undergo paclitaxel-carboplatin chemotherapy. A total of 68 patients need to be enrolled in this study. The primary objective of this study is to evaluate the frequency of chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy. The secondary objectives are the evaluation of the severity of peripheral neuropathy and the quality of life to show that selenium is effective in preventing and relieving peripheral neuropathy induced by paclitaxel. Positive results in this study will lead to further studies investigating the effect of selenium on other chemotherapies that can induce peripheral neuropathy.

Multi-Centre Observational Study of Maintenance Niraparib in Treatment of Ovarian CanceR

Ovarian CancerPeritoneal Cancer1 more

This is a multi-centre, observational (non-interventional) study, designed to follow patients with advanced ovarian fallopian tube and primary peritoneal cancer, who are receiving Niraparib as maintenance treatment, according to the Niraparib access criteria (via TESARO patient access programme, EMA licence and NHS pending NICE assessment due 2018) including assessment of tolerability to Niraparib therapy.

Primary Ovarian CancerFallopian Tube Cancer1 more

This study is an exploratory, single-center, prospective single-arm study to explore the efficacy of Huaier granules in the treatment of stage Ⅱ-Ⅳ primary ovarian cancer, fallopian tube cancer, and peritoneal cancer after satisfactory tumor reduction (R0/R1). Twenty-five patients with FIGOⅡ-Ⅳ ovarian cancer, peritoneal cancer or tubal cancer confirmed by histopathology were enrolled and treated with Huaier granules. During the study period, the patients were followed up once at 3 months, and the medication was continued until progression or intolerability of toxicity. Evaluation of GTPase Inhibition by Post-operative Intravenous Ketorolac in Ovarian Cancer Patients...

Ovarian CancerFallopian Tube Cancer1 more

There is a move towards personalized medicine in cancer care, and significant effort is underway to evaluate new targeted therapeutics for the treatment of ovarian cancer. One way to identify potential new drug targets is by screening a drug library to determine whether drugs in the library target key kinase or enzymatic sites in cellular signaling pathways. Previous preclinical work and pilot studies demonstrated that ketorolac (a type of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug) inhibits GTPase activity in ovarian cancer cells retrieved from the post-operative peritoneal cavity. The purpose of this study is to confirm that this inhibitory effect is ketorolac driven and not a specific effect of the post-operative peritoneal compartment.

Platinum-Resistant Fallopian Tube CarcinomaPlatinum-Resistant Ovarian Carcinoma4 more

This phase II trial tests whether pegylated SN-38 conjugate PLX038 (PLX038) works to shrink tumors in patients with ovarian, primary peritoneal, and fallopian tube cancers that has spread from where it first started (primary site) to other places in the body (metastatic). PLX038 may stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth.
