Assessment of the Prevalence of Sarcopenia by CT Scan in Patients Diagnosed With Head & Neck Cancer...

SarcopeniaCancer of Head and Neck1 more

Sarcopenia is defined by the reduction in skeletal muscle mass and physical performance. It results in a decrease in muscle strength, overall physical activity, walking and the development of balance disorders and falls. It is one of the natural consequences of aging and contributes to frailty and the appearance of geriatric syndrome (s) (Chandapasirt et al, 2015; Cruz-Jentoft et al, 2010). Its prevalence in patients with Head & Neck cancer is 39% (Hua et al, 2020) and is associated with an increase in postoperative complications (Achim et al, 2017; Bril et al, 2019), with greater toxicity of chemotherapy. (Wendrich et al, 2017) and reduced overall survival (Hua et al, 2020). It is measured by CT scan (assessment of muscle volume with respect to L3 using IMAGE J software) (Teigen et al, 2018) and by clinical tests (performance tests) (Swartz et al, 2016, Cruz-Jentoft et al, 2010). Several studies have shown a possible assessment of sarcopenia by measuring skeletal muscle mass with regard to C3 (Ufuk et al, 2019; Swartz et al, 2016). This trial aims to evaluate the prevalence of sarcopenia in head and neck cancer evaluated by CT at C3.

Anti-tumor Specific Immune Response in Head and Neck Cancers

Head and Neck Squamous Cell Carcinoma

The purpose is the description of anti-tumor immune responses in general and according to clinical stage and disease free survival (DFS: survival without recurrence (local or distant)) in patients with Head & Neck Squamous Cell Carcinoma Secondary purposes are: Study of relationship between anti-tumor immune response and qualitative (yes/no) and quantitative (number) presence of circulating tumor cells (CTCs); Study of relationship between qualitative (yes/no) and quantitative (number) presence of CTCs and clinical stage as well as DFS Study of relationship between anti-tumor immune response and clinical stage as well as DFS.

Can DW MRI Predict Outcome During Radiotherapy for Head and Neck Cancer?

Head and Neck Cancer

Around 50% of patients with locally advanced H&N cancer fail to achieve loco-regional control. Currently it cannot be predicted, during treatment, who will fall into this group of non-responders. This study is designed to assess the value of DW MRI as a predictive biomarker of response to radiotherapy in intermediate and high risk OPSCC.

Validation of FDG-PET Segmentation Tools for Tumor Delineation by Correlation of CT- and FDG-PET...

Head and Neck Cancer

Various methods of FDG-PET signal segmentation will be validated by correlation of histopathologically measured tumor dimensions in lymph node dissection specimens of head-and-neck cancer patients.

Validity and Reliability of the Turkish Version of the Head and Neck Cancer Inventory

Quality of LifeHead and Neck Cancer

The primary treatment option of many patients with head and neck cancer is surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy. In the literature, functional problems that occur after surgical interventions applied to head and neck cancer patients are frequently mentioned. Morbidities resulting from the combined application of radiotherapy and chemotherapy are based on more anecdotal information and critical data on long-term functional outcomes in this patient group are scarce. The aim of this study is to make the validity, reliability and cultural adaptation of the Head and Neck Cancer Inventory in Turkish.

Resectability of Pancreatic Head Cancer by Contrast-enhanced MDCT:a Multi-center Study

Adenocarcinoma of Head of Pancreas

The purpose of this multicenter and double-blind clinical trial is to prospectively assess the sensitivity, specificity, negative predictive value, positive predictive value, and accuracy in respectability of pancreatic head cancer with contrasted-enhanced MDCT and its various post processing techniques, taking operational and pathological records as the gold standard.

Functional Imaging in HNC Undergoing Chemoradiation

Head and Neck Cancer

The purpose of the study is to generate a library of functional imaging and anatomical imaging for patients with head and neck cancers for evaluation of new radiotherapy strategies and planning techniques including IMRT. Secondary aims would be to observe the changes in the cancers as the treatment progresses as well as to define the biologically most active part of the tumor (biological target volume) which could be given more intensive treatment. Tumor volumes seen on different imaging modalities will be compared with a hope of finding an optimal imaging methodology for accurate visualization of the head and neck cancers

A Study of Gene Polymorphisms and Normal Tissue Radiation Injury in Patients Treated for Breast,...

Breast CancerGlioma6 more

This study will examine, for the first time, the independent contribution of a patient's own genetic makeup to the development of post-radiation complications, permitting the future development of predictive tests to avoid radiation injury. To do this, the investigators will examine gene markers in a series of breast, prostate, brain and lung cancer survivors who have received conformal radiotherapy between 1996 and 2003 at the Cross Cancer Institute and Tom Baker Cancer Centre.
