Cisplatin, Bevacizumab, and Intensity-Modulated Radiation Therapy in Treating Patients With Stage...
Head and Neck CancerRATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as cisplatin, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing. Monoclonal antibodies, such as bevacizumab, can block tumor growth in different ways. Some block the ability of tumor cells to grow and spread. Others find tumor cells and help kill them or carry tumor-killing substances to them. Bevacizumab may also stop the growth of head and neck cancer by blocking blood flow to the tumor. Specialized radiation therapy that delivers a high dose of radiation directly to the tumor may kill more tumor cells and cause less damage to normal tissue. Giving cisplatin and bevacizumab together with intensity-modulated radiation therapy may kill more tumor cells. PURPOSE: This phase II trial is studying the side effects and how well giving cisplatin and bevacizumab together with intensity-modulated radiation therapy works in treating patients with stage III or stage IV head and neck cancer.
Study Of Adjuvant Lapatinib In High-Risk Head And Neck Cancer Subjects After Surgery
NeoplasmsHead and NeckThis is a randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled, multicentre, global Phase III trial comparing the efficacy of adjuvant oral lapatinib versus placebo in high-risk subjects with head and neck cancer following surgery. Lapatinib or placebo will be administered post-operatively in combination with chemoradiotherapy followed by maintenance with lapatinib or placebo for 1 year. The primary goal is to determine if lapatinib is effective at reducing the recurrence of the disease in these high-risk patients.
Vaccine Therapy in Treating Patients With Head and Neck Cancer
Head and Neck CancerRATIONALE: Vaccines made from a person's dendritic cells mixed with peptides may help the body build an effective immune response to kill tumor cells. PURPOSE: This randomized phase I trial is studying the side effects of vaccine therapy in treating patients with head and neck cancer.
Cetuximab (ERBITUX®) Added to Two Concurrent Chemoradiotherapy Platforms in Locally Advanced Head...
Head and Neck CancerThe main purpose of this study is to explore and compare the efficacy of Cetuximab (ERBITUX®) added to two concurrent chemoradiotherapy platforms of different intensity in locally advanced head and neck cancer.
Robotic Assisted Surgery in Upper Aerodigestive Tract Surgery
Head and Neck CancerOropharyngeal Cancer2 moreTo evaluate the use of the daVinci Robotic System for better visibility and access of head and neck lesions and decreased amount of surgery time.
Imatinib Mesylate (Gleevec) and Docetaxel in Patients With Head and Neck Squamous Cell Cancer
Head and Neck CancerSquamous Cell CancerPrimary Objective: To determine the efficacy of the combination of imatinib mesylate and docetaxel in recurrent or metastatic head and neck squamous cell cancer by serial measurements of tumor response (extent, frequency, duration). Secondary Objectives: To assess the safety and tolerability of imatinib mesylate and docetaxel in patients with recurrent or metastatic head and neck squamous cell cancer. To explore the biologic effects of imatinib mesylate and docetaxel on tumor tissue by immunohistochemical analysis of microvessel density and phosphorylation of Platelet-derived growth factor receptors (PDGF-R). To explore the effects of imatinib mesylate and docetaxel on surrogate markers in serum. To assess the rate of survival.
Zalutumumab in Patients With Non-curable Head and Neck Cancer
Head and Neck CancerSquamous Cell CancerThe purpose of this study is to investigate if zalutumumab in combination with Best Supportive Care (BSC) is superior to BSC in non-curable patients with head and neck cancer
EPO906 Plus Radiation Therapy for the Treatment of Cancer Patients
Central Nervous System NeoplasmsHead and Neck NeoplasmsThe purpose of this study is to determine the safety of the drug EPO906 that could shrink tumors when used with radiation therapy in cancer patients.
Neoadjuvant Docetaxel Plus Cisplatin and 5-fluorouracil (TPF) Followed by Concomitant Chemoradiotherapy...
Head and Neck NeoplasmsTo evaluate the rate of clinical complete response 6-8 weeks after treatment with docetaxel plus cisplatin and 5-fluorouracil followed by chemoradiotherapy and after chemoradiotherapy alone in patients with locally advanced squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck.
Pemetrexed (Alimta) in Patients With Head and Neck Squamous Cell Cancer
Head and Neck CancerPrimary Objective: To determine the maximum tolerated doses (MTDs) of pemetrexed when given with dexamethasone. (Please note: One of the three treatment groups will not receive dexamethasone) Secondary Objectives: To assess dose limiting toxicity (DLT), which is defined as grade 4 neutropenia > 7 days duration, neutropenic fever, grade 4 thrombocytopenia, or any grade 3 or 4 non-hematologic toxicity excluding nausea/vomiting and excluding grade 3 transaminase toxicity. To determine objective response rate, as defined as complete response (CR) or partial response (PR), confirmed by 2 CT scans at least 6 weeks apart in patients treated with pemetrexed as a single agent with advanced squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck.
