Evaluation of EUS-Guided 22 Gauge Core Biopsy Versus Fine-needle Aspiration for Suspected Pancreatic...
Pancreatic TumorWe aim to compare the efficacy (diagnostic yield), ease of use, and technical success rates of EUS guided 22 gauge fine needle aspiration to core biopsy in the evaluation of pancreatic tumors. The experimental hypothesis is that FNA will have superior overall diagnostic yield than core biopsy.
Prognostic and Predictive Biomarkers of Therapeutic Response in Pancreatic Tumors
Pancreatic TumorPancreatic cancer is among the most serious human neoplasia and the most difficult to treat. Most patients present at diagnosis a non resectable, locally advanced or metastatic disease, with a median survival of 12 month. The aim of this study is the identification of diagnosis biomarkers, predictive of the therapeutic response. This project investigate the use of molecular analyses applied to pancreatic tumor cells collected by microbiopsy under ultrasound-endoscopy, and blood cells.
Biomarkers in Plasma Specimens From Patients Treated on Study CALGB-80303
Pancreatic CancerRATIONALE: Studying plasma samples from patients with pancreatic cancer in the laboratory may help doctors identify and learn more about biomarkers related to cancer. PURPOSE: This research trial studies biomarkers in samples from patients with pancreatic cancer treated on study CALGB-80303.
Chromogranin A as Blood Marker in Cancer Patients
Gastric NeoplasmsPancreatic Neoplasms2 moreGastroentero-pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors (GEP-NETs) are a heterogenous group of neoplasms that arise from enterochromaffin cells of the gastrointestinal (GI) tract and pancreas. They account for 50-70% of all incident NETs. Due to the lack of symptoms in the early stage of disease and the frequency of nonspecific GI symptoms, GEP-NETs are difficult to diagnose. Identification of effective biomarkers (such as Chromogranin A) to improve GEP-NET diagnosis, as well as to assess treatment efficacy, relapse and prognosis, is important for improving outcomes for patients with GEP-NETs. The purpose of this study is to validate the performance of Brahms (BRAHMS) Chromogranin A II Kryptor (KRYPTOR) assay to monitor the course of disease in patients with well-defined GEP-NETs.
Predictive Value of Analysing Tissue From Patients With Metastatic Pancreatic Cancer for Drug Sensitivity...
Metastatic Pancreatic CancerIt will be investigated whether it is possible to predict the effect or lack of effect of first-line treatment by analysing cancer cells from the individual patient receiving standard first line treatment. Also, the feasibility of selecting second-line therapy based on pre-treatment biopsies will be investigated. Cells from pancreatic cancer will be grown in the laboratory to form small, circulating tumors and adjacent tissue, so called tumoroids. The tumoroids will then be exposed to different pre-specified anticancer drugs to hopefully reveal sensitivity or lack of sensitivity in the specific patient.
Percutaneous Versus EUS FNAC in Pancreatic Masses
Pancreatic NeoplasmPancreatic Cyst1 moreWe aim to evaluate the role of Ultrasound-guided (USG) fine needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) in diagnosis of pancreatic masses compared to endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) guided fine needle aspiration cytology (FNAC).
The Role of Systemic Immuno-inflammatory Factors in Resectable Pancreatic Adenocarcinoma
Pancreas CancerDuct Cell AdenocarcinomaPancreatic cancer is a highly aggressive malignancy, its prognosis remaining poor despite the current advances in treatment. Systemic inflammatory reaction has been recently recognized as an important factor in the progression of cancer. The immune-inflammatory response has been measured through different scores or ratios, that combine the values of circulating immune cells, like neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR), lymphocyte-to-monocyte ratio (LMR), systemic immune-inflammation index (SII), prognostic nutritional index (PNI). The utility of these scores in different types of cancer has been more and more discussed. In pancreatic cancer, there has been no definite conclusion regarding the role of systemic immune-inflammatory factors; since controversies still exist, a deeper exploration of this subject, through more studies is welcomed. Our study intends to analyze the utility of systemic immune-inflammatory markers in resectable pancreatic cancer. Our study is an observational cohort study, with retrospective data collection; it is a single-center study, that takes place in a hospital with experience in hepato-bilio-pancreatic surgery. The investigators intended to evaluate the role of the circulating immune cells (neutrophils, lymphocytes, monocytes) and different immune-inflammatory scores (NLR, LMR, PLR, SII, PNI) in predicting the overall survival of patients diagnosed with pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma, that undergo curative surgical treatment. The investigators intended to assess the prognosis power of these factors in both preoperative and postoperative settings, as well as their dynamic after surgery. Through this study, the investigators hope to identify easy-to determine and easy-to-use markers that can be incorporated in clinical practice and that can effectively predict survival in pancreatic cancer patients. Nonetheless, the investigators want to explore the dynamic of the immune-inflammatory markers after curative surgery.
SII And PALBI is Associated With the Prognosis of Pancreatic Cancer Surgery(SII,PALBI)
Pancreatic CancerChronic inflammation and immune dysfunction play a key role in the development of tumors. The aim of the study is to investigate the predictive value of SII and PALBI grade for the patients with pancreatic cancer surgery.
Effect of Thrombin-containing Collagen-based Hemostatic Matrix
Pancreatic TumorUnder the hypothesis that collagen-based hemostatic agents improve the suppression of leakage of hemostatic pancreatic fluid at the surgical site during surgery, thrombin-containing collagen-based hemostatic agents are applied in surgery in patients with pancreatectomy. The investigators intend to evaluate the effectiveness of collagen-based hemostatic agents containing thrombin through clinical evaluation of hemostatic effect and anti-leakage effect of pancreatic fluid. This clinical study is a study for comparative evaluation of hemostasis and anti-leakage effect of bile or pancreatic fluid when applied after pancreatic resection of a collagen-based hemostatic agent containing thrombin. It is prospective, single center, randomized, and non-inferiority test. Participants are patients who are diagnosed with pancreatic disease and other diseases, and plan to undergo pancreatectomy. Through the randomization, in the case of the intervention group, after the pancreatectomy, the Collastat (CollaStat®, Dalim Tissen. Co., Ltd., Korea) is applied to the cut surface, and in the case of the control group, Collaseal (CollaSeal®, Dalim Tissen. Co., Ltd., Korea) is applied. In this study, 30 participants were required for each intervention group and control group. After surgery, the participants is hospitalized for 7 days and undergoes follow-up observation. Pancreatic leakage is measured through the drainage tube before discharge and evaluated as biochemical leakage (BL), B, or C according to the definition of International Study Group for Pancreatic Fistula (ISGPS). The primary endpoint of this study was the prevention rate of leakage. The postoperative pancreatic fistula (POPF) was defined according to the definition of ISGPS. Secondary end point was assessed as the difference between groups of total number of collagen hemostatic agents used, hospital length of stay and number of patient who received RBC transfusion. Safety was assessed based on the incidence of adverse events occurred.
