Telotristat Ethyl for Reducing Intraoperative Carcinoid Crisis in Patients With Neuroendocrine Tumors...
Neuroendocrine TumorsThis is a study to determine if a certain drug, called telotristat ethyl (Xermelo®), can help reduce the chance of blood pressure and heart rate variations (known as carcinoid crisis) in individuals who have neuroendocrine tumors (also called carcinoid tumors). These complications can be life-threatening for patients who already have to experience challenging surgeries to remove their tumors. To determine if telotristat ethyl (Xermelo®) will help reduce these complications during surgery, researchers will give the drug to study participants before surgery.
Study to Evaluate the Efficacy and Safety of 90Y-SMT487 in Subjects With Symptomatic Malignant Carcinoid...
Malignant Carcinoid TumorSubjects will be screened to determine OctreoScan® uptake. And upon meeting the eligibility criteria, 90 subjects will complete a symptom assessment scale at baseline and throughout the study at specific time points. Actual treatment will consist of three six-week cycles of a fixed total dose of 13.3 GBq (360 mCi) of 90Y-SMT487. The total dose will be divided into three equal doses and administered as a single activity of 4.4 GBq (120 mCi) of 90Y-SMT487 once every six weeks for three cycles. An amino acid infusion will be administered along with each dose. Long-term follow up will occur at 6 and 12 months after Day 1/ Cycle 1. Survival will be assessed every six months.
GA-68 DOTA-TOC of Somatostatin Positive Malignancies
Neuroendocrine TumorParaganglioma2 moreThis phase I/II trial studies how well gallium Ga 68-DOTA-TOC positron emission tomography (PET)/computed tomography (CT) or PET/magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) works in imaging patients with somatostatin receptor positive tumors. Gallium Ga 68-DOTA-TOC binds to somatostatin receptor positive tumors and can be seen using a PET scan. A PET scan uses a special camera to detect energy given off from gallium Ga 68-DOTA-TOC, to make detailed pictures of areas where material accumulates in the body. Diagnostic procedures, such as gallium Ga 68-DOTA-TOC PET/CT or PET/MRI, may help find and diagnose somatostatin receptor positive tumors and help plan the best treatment.
Endoscopic Placement of Metal Stent in Patients With Cancer-Related Bowel Obstruction
Colorectal CancerConstipation7 moreRATIONALE: The use of endoscopy to place a metal stent in the large intestine is less invasive than surgery for treating cancer-related bowel obstruction and may have fewer side effects and improve recovery. PURPOSE: Phase I/II trial to study the effectiveness of endoscopic placement of a metal stent in treating patients who have cancer-related bowel obstruction.
Evaluating an Amino Acid Based Medical Food w/ Diarrhea in Carcinoid Syndrome & Other NETs
Neuroendocrine TumorsCarcinoid Tumor of GI System2 morePrimary Objective: To assess how an amino acid based medical food (Enterade®) helps maintain the intestine's ability to absorb and retain fluids, leading to a reduction in diarrhea due to Neuroendocrine Tumors (NET) and/or Carcinoid Syndrome. This improvement in the absorption will be assessed in part by evaluating changes in average daily stool frequency from baseline in patients receiving Enterade®. Each subject serves as his or her own control. Secondary Objectives: To assess subject reported health-related quality of life in subjects before and after compound administration. To characterize the side effect profile and tolerability of Enterade® as measured by the number of total 8-oz Enterade® bottles consumed throughout the trial, and average drinks per day. To evaluate changes in serum electrolytes before and after administration of Eenterade®. To assess intravenous fluid requirement and/or hospitalization for dehydration secondary to diarrhea between control observation period and active Enterade® period. To evaluate difference in utilization of standard-of-care anti-diarrheal medications between control observation period and Enterade® period. To compare subjective feeling of bloating and flatulence before and after administration of Enterade®. To evaluate changes in patient weight before and after administration of Enterade®.

Colorectal CancerConstipation9 moreRATIONALE: The use of endoscopy to place metal stents in the duodenum is less invasive than surgery for treating cancer-related duodenal obstruction and may have fewer side effects and improve recovery. PURPOSE: Phase I/II trial to study the effectiveness of endoscopic placement of metal stents in treating patients who have cancer-related obstruction of the duodenum.
Active Surveillance in Early Lung Cancer
Stage IA Non-small Cell Lung CancerLung Carcinoid TumorCancer patients are often given the choice of delaying or avoiding treatment as one of their options. However, there is not much information guiding lung cancer patients and their clinicians regarding this approach. Active surveillance is a way of either delaying or avoiding treatment and its possible side effects through carefully watching for changes in the tumor and considering treatment if there is progression. The purpose of this research study is to evaluate active surveillance and ways to better understand if and when to treat patients with stage IA lung cancer.
Safety and Tolerability Profile of RAD001 Daily in Chinese Patients With Advanced Pulmonary Neuroendocrine...
Neuroendocrine TumorsCarcinoid TumorRAD001 continues to be investigated as an anticancer agent on new indications such as neuroendocrine tumors (incl. carcinoid), breast cancer, liver cancer, gastric cancer and lymphoma based on its potential to act: directly on the tumor cells by inhibiting tumor cell growth and proliferation indirectly by inhibiting angiogenesis leading to reduced tumor vascularity (via potent inhibition of tumor cell HIF-1 activity and VEGF production and VEGF-induced proliferation of endothelial cells) A role for RAD001 in combination with Sandostatin LAR® Depot in the treatment of advanced carcinoid tumor is suggested by data on the regulatory role of mTOR in cell growth and protein translation and the finding that somatostatin-induced growth arrest is mediated in part by inhibition of the PI3K pathway (Charland, et al. 2001). The present study is designed to collect safety/tolerability data and evidences for efficacy of RAD001 in the medically highly unmet indication of advanced pulmonary neuroendocrine tumor in Chinese patients.
