This trial tests new methods and materials for the real-time chemotherapy-associated side effects monitoring support system (RT-CAMSS) in patients with gastrointestinal cancers undergoing chemotherapy. RT-CAMSS is a monitoring support system that provides patients with evidence-based information and side-effect management and coping skills, emotional support and validation, and proactive care via text messages and questionnaires as they undergo chemotherapy.

RATIONALE: Zoledronic acid may prevent bone loss and help prevent or lessen musculoskeletal symptoms in women receiving hormone therapy for breast cancer. PURPOSE: This phase II trial is studying how well zoledronic acid works in preventing musculoskeletal symptoms in post-menopausal women with stage I, stage II, or stage III breast cancer receiving letrozole.

RATIONALE: Vorinostat may stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth. PURPOSE: This clinical trial is studying how well vorinostat works in treating women with ductal carcinoma in situ of the breast.
