Prospective Observational Analysis Of CR With Sunitinib Treatment In mRCC Patients
Complete Remission in Renal Cell CarcinomaThis prospective study will investigate the characteristics of mRCC patients at time of CR in comparison with mRCC patients non on CR treated with Sunitinib, in order to provide some answers/ refection leads to the following questions : Can we identify blood specificity at time of CR vs non on CR? Shall we distinguish CR with sunitinib alone from combined CR (sunitinib with local treatment), while in clinical report these 2 cohorts present similar time to recurrence (ALBIGES, ASCO 2010)? Can we identify potential predictive serum biomarkers of recurrence? (With the aim of isolating blood biomarker that can help on treatment discontinuation decision?)

In women, the incidence of RCC is similar to that of leukemia, ovarian, or pancreatic cancer; thus, RCC is significant health issue. This study focuses on identifying specific molecules [biomarkers] of RCC that can be used to develop a reliable low-cost screening method at the point of service. If successful, our method would provide a diagnostic test to distinguish benign kidney masses from malignant ones, eliminating the need to surgically remove a kidney with a benign tumor.

Dr. Mark PURDUE and Dr. Stephen CAHNOCK (Department of Epidemiology of Cancer and Genetics, NCI) propose to expand their genome-wide association study (Expanded GWAS) by genotyping approximately 10,000 additional cases of kidney cancer patients, in collaboration with US institutions, South-American and European. This study describes the participation of the French Kidney Cancer Research Network (UroCCR) in the Expanded GWAS research, under the coordination of Professor BERNHARD (Bordeaux University Hospital).

Cardiovascular and Torsades de Pointes Monitoring for Pazopanib
CarcinomaRenal CellThis observational study is conducted as part of a systematic pharmacovigilance activity, to provide a population-based context for Pazopanib use outside of the clinical trial setting. The aims of the study are to examine the incidence of cardiovascular ischemia (including myocardial infarction, unstable angina, transient ischemic attack, and cerebrovascular accident) and cardiac arrhythmia (Torsades de Pointes) in renal cell carcinoma patients treated with marketed anti-VEGF agents [Pazopanib (VOTRIENT), Bevacizumab (AVASTIN), Sorafenib (NEXAVAR), and Sunitinib (SUTENT)]. Two databases will be utilized for this study: a large healthcare claims database in the U.S. and the Dutch linked medical registries (PHARMO RLS). The databases will provide large, geographically varied, non-trial populations in which to examine the incidence of the stated cardiovascular ischemic events and Torsades des Pointes.
