Vorinostat in Treating Women With Ductal Carcinoma in Situ of the Breast

Breast Cancer

RATIONALE: Vorinostat may stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth. PURPOSE: This clinical trial is studying how well vorinostat works in treating women with ductal carcinoma in situ of the breast.

Resiliency Among Older Adults Receiving Lung Cancer Treatment

Advanced Lung CarcinomaExtensive Stage Lung Small Cell Carcinoma7 more

This trial studies how well physical therapy and progressive muscle relaxation works in improving physical performance and mood in older patients with stage IIIA-B or IV lung cancer who are undergoing treatment. Improving physical performance and mood may help older patients maintain an independent lifestyle by helping to improve their resilience, the ability to bounce back to normal functioning after a stressor or intervening health event such as treatment or disease progression. Giving physical therapy and progressive muscle relaxation may work in improving symptoms and quality of life in patients with lung cancer.

Fallopian Tube Endometrioid TumorFallopian Tube Mucinous Neoplasm8 more

This phase II trial studies how well physical activity monitored by Fitbit Charge 2 works in improving quality of life in participants with ovarian, primary peritoneal, or fallopian tube cancer that has come back. A modern, state of the art activity tracking device (Fitbit Charge 2) may help to measure physical activity, heart rate, and sleep pattern, and may help doctors to learn whether physical activity level has any relationship to energy level, sleep duration and quality, toxicity from chemotherapy, immune cells in blood, and bacterial composition in gut.

SAbR Induced Innate Immunity in Urothelial Carcinoma, Melanoma, and Cervical Carcinoma

Urothelial CarcinomaMelanoma1 more

The study is an exploratory prospective, single center study with correlative endpoints. The study will investigate the association of tumor cGAS STING signaling with SAbR. Tumor core biopsies will be processed and analyzed as described above. Medical records electronic medical records will be used to collect demographic and medical information and imaging studies.

Utility of the Skin Cancer Quality of Life Impact Tool

Skin NeoplasmSquamous Cell Carcinoma1 more

Background: Patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) provide validated evidence of health and quality of life (QoL) from the patient perspective. Several national PROMs programmes have been implemented in the National Health Service - specifically for common elective procedures. Local implementation is varied across settings and populations. The incidence of non-melanoma skin cancer (NMSC) is rapidly increasing, posing considerable burden on UK healthcare resources, yet there is limited evidence of use of PROMs in NMSC and little information about patients' perceived health and QoL. Objectives: This study will explore feasibility of implementing a skin cancer-specific PROM - Skin Cancer Quality of Life Impact Tool (SCQOLIT) for NMSC. Methods: Three hundred patients with a pathological diagnosis of NMSC undergoing all treatment modalities will be recruited to complete SCQOLIT questionnaires at baseline, at 3, 6 and 9 months. Participation and response rates, missing data and individual change scores will be analysed. Staff and patients will be interviewed to explore acceptability and feasibility of collecting PROMs data. Results: Interim results of the project to date will be presented. Feasibility will be assessed by evaluating number of eligible patients, number of consenting patients, reasons for not consenting and participant number. Individual longitudinal change in scores, response rates and psychometric properties of the SCQOLIT will be reported. Implications: Acceptability and feasibility of the SCQOLIT tool has never been rigorously assessed in Dermatology clinics. A validated NMSC-specific PROM would help standardize multi-centred trials, allow robust evaluation of quality of care and more appropriately direct healthcare resources to improve QoL in patients with NMSC.

PET and MRI in Prognosis Prediction of NPC

Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma

Nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) differs from other head and neck malignancies terms of its epidemiology, pathology, and treatment outcome. Integrated PET/MRI is a new imaging modality, which can simultaneously acquire PET and MRI images. Considering the lack of reports on the use of hybrid PET/MRI systems in prognosis prediction in NPC, the investigators conduct this prospective study to investigate the roles of integrated PET/MRI parameters for predicting treatment outcome and prognosis in patients with NPC.

Sorafenib Tosylate in Treating Patients With Liver Cancer That Cannot Be Removed by Surgery

Advanced Adult Hepatocellular CarcinomaLocalized Non-Resectable Adult Hepatocellular Carcinoma7 more

This clinical trial studies sorafenib tosylate in treating patients with liver cancer that cannot be removed by surgery. Sorafenib tosylate may block some of the enzymes needed for tumor cell growth. Blocking these enzymes may also help the immune system work better. Granzyme B is a biomarker that can be used to measure how well the immune system is working. A biomarker is a biological molecule found in blood, other body fluids, or tissues that is a sign of a normal or abnormal process, or of a condition or disease. Studying granzyme B levels in patients receiving sorafenib tosylate may help doctors learn more about the effects of sorafenib tosylate on the immune system and may help to predict how well sorafenib tosylate will work in treating patients with liver cancer.
