The Vascular and Metabolic Effects of Sunitinib in Patients With Metastatic Renal Cell Carcinoma...

HypertensionRenal Function2 more

Rationale: The introduction of angiogenesis inhibitors, like sunitinib and bevacizumab, has improved the outcome of patients with several types of cancer remarkably. However, their application is hampered by side effects, such as development of hypertension with consequences for renal and cardiac function. Moreover patients treated with angiogenesis inhibitors may suffer from weight loss, and insulin sensitivity during treatment appears to change. The treatment with angiogenesis inhibitors, will improve life expectancy of patients with various cancer diagnoses and therefore the clinical relevance of both short term and long lasting adverse events will translate into reduced quality of life. In addition, premature withdrawal of angiogenesis inhibitors due to side effects may result in lower response, shorter duration of response and possibly a shorter survival. Therefore, adequate treatment of above mentioned side effects in patients treated with angiogenesis inhibitors is of relevance for the response rate, the duration of progression free survival and overall survival and for quality of life. Mechanistic insight in the pathogenesis of these side effects will help optimizing treatment. Objective: The primary objective of the study is to investigate the effect of sunitinib on endothelial function, insulin sensitivity, renal function and renal blood flow. Study design: Single-centre non randomized observational study Study population: 30 Patients (>18 years old) starting with sunitinib as treatment for metastatic renal cell carcinoma.

Search for Predictors of Therapeutic Response in Ovarian Carcinoma

Carcinoma of the OvaryFallopian Tube Cancer1 more

In order to search for predictors of response to chemotherapy in patients with ovarian carcinoma of the ovary, the fallopian tube or peritoneal serous-type advanced stage, we will define the comparative profiles of miRNA expression of serum polymorphisms and determine differential in 2 patient populations (with or without recurrence 6 months after completion of chemotherapy) with (i) the miRNA profile of serum before treatment and (ii) identification of polymorphisms or SNP (Single Nucleotide Polymorphism) in particular genes involved in the metabolism of chemotherapy agents In the case of miRNA, expression profiles will also be studied during the first course in response to chemotherapy. Indeed, the miRNA profile of serum may be different at baseline among the 2 types of populations (or non-recurrence at 6 months).

Sorafenib in Hepatocellular Carcinoma Clinical Practice in Italy

Hepatocellular Carcinoma

Prospective, non-interventional, multi-center study. Patients affected by Hepatocellular Carcinoma (HCC) who are candidates for systemic therapy and in whom a decision to treat with sorafenib has been made. Aim of this non-interventional, post-marketing study is to evaluate the efficacy of sorafenib in terms of overall survival rate at 12 months in patients with HCC under daily-life treatment conditions.

Effectiveness and Safety of Firmagon®

Androgen Ablative Therapy of Advanced Hormone-dependent Prostate Carcinoma

Effectiveness and Safety of Firmagon® in Androgen Ablative Therapy of Advanced Hormone-dependent Prostate Carcinoma. The period until Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA) progression during the Firmagon® therapy is to be documented and related to the testosterone values measured in the course of therapy (if available). Other clinical parameters, the patients' quality of life and the direct and indirect costs incurred by the medical care for the advanced hormone-dependent prostate carcinoma and its consequences will be evaluated. In this context the medical outcome and the life quality are defined as effectiveness and benefit value parameters. Both the effectiveness under daily life circumstances and economic variables of the therapy can thus be shown and compared within an analysis of costs vs. benefits or costs vs. effectiveness.

Non Small Cell Lung CarcinomaMetastatic Breast Cancer

The purpose of this non-interventional study is to collect data on efficacy and toxicity of the use of Navelbine ORAL in daily routine in Germany (especially after availability of an 80mg capsule). The study focusses on concomitant antiemetic therapy and patient compliance.

HDE Use Protocol of TheraSphere for Treatment of Unresectable HCC

Hepatocellular Carcinoma

MDS Nordion's TheraSphere, Yttrium-90 glass microspheres has been approved as a Humanitarian device authorized by federal(USA)law for use in radiation treatment or as a neoadjuvant to surgery or transplantation in patients with unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)who can have placement of appropriately positioned hepatic arterial catheters. Outcomes of this treatment protocol will be monitored and reported to the Carolinas HealthCare System Institutional Review Board.

Proximal Molecular Effects of Concurrent Chemoradiotherapy on Head and Neck Squamous Cell Carcinoma...

Head and Neck Squamous Cell Carcinoma

This pilot study seeks to evaluate the feasibility of measuring the proximal effects of concurrent chemoradiotherapy (CRT) on the expression of potential therapeutic target molecules in Head and Neck Squamous Cell Carcinoma (HNSCC). Specifically, this study proposes to evaluate the extent to which CRT induces the differential expression of components along two critical, and potentially interdependent, molecular pathways: the arachidonic acid and epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) signaling pathways.
