IGFBP-3 in Ovarian Cancer Invasion

Ovarian Carcinoma

An ovarian cancer cell line (OVTW-59) derived from an ovarian endometrioid carcinoma was established and its sublines, labeled as P0, P1, P2, P3, and P4 with increasing invasion abilities were selected from transwell invasion chambers.Using cDNA microarray and verified with quantitative reverse-transcriptase polymerase chain reaction, we have identified IGFBP-3 as an invasion-suppressor gene. We plan to study the role of IGFBP-3 in ovarian cancer invasion.

Intestinal Flora Sequencing for Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma

Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma

This study investigated the correlation between the changes in the intestinal flora and NPC by an examination of the intestinal flora and multiple clinical indicators of the blood of 8 carefully screened patients of familial NPC, 24 patients of sporadic NPC and 27 healthy controls and a comparison of the differences in their intestinal flora structures and biological functions. By analyzing the function of the intestinal floras of NPC patients, we aimed to provide a better biological marker for patients with familial and sporadic NPC and constructed a disease prediction model for high-risk populations.

PD-L1 and BRAF Expression in Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma

Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma

The prognostic value of programmed death-ligand 1 (PD-L1) and BRAF expression in nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) is not well-defined. In this study the investigators investigated alterations in PD-L1, BRAF and EGFR by using immunohistochemistry analysis in a cohort of consecutively enrolled NPC patients.

Clinicopathological Importance of Colorectal Medullary Carcinoma: Retrospective Cohort Study

Colorectal Medullary Carcinoma

Medullary carcinoma (MC) is a rare tumor with solid growth pattern without glandular differentiation and constitute less than 1% of colorectal cancer. Lymph node positivity and distant organ metastasis were reported to be lower than other poorly differentiated adenocarcinomas. Therefore, the diagnosis of MC is pathologically important in terms of follow-up and treatment. MC is commonly localized in the right colon, has a large tumor size, and is mostly diagnosed in the T4 stage. As MC most likely have defects in DNA MMR, the correct pathological diagnosis is important for the postoperative treatment and the prognosis of the patients.

Probe Based Confocal Laser Endomicroscopy During Thoracoscopy for Pleural Malignancies Diagnosis....

Pleural Carcinomatosis

Probe based confocal laser endomicroscopy (pCLE) is a new optical endoscopic technique, generating fluorescent light emission from the tissue of interest and allowing in vivo live imaging at a cellular level ("optical biopsies"). It was first used in gastroenterology and came later to the light in pulmonary medicine and is still an experimental technique. In gastroenterology, this new investigational technique is used in Barret oesophagus, inflammatory bowel disease, pancreas cystic lesions... Nowadays, there are no data concerning usefulness of endomicroscopy in medical thoracoscopy. During thoracoscopy This new tool could help to target biopsies or help clinicians to do the right diagnosis early, allowing rapid therapeutic intervention (talc pleurodesis for example) . Furthermore, some details can be studied only during live imaging as microorganisms or bloodflows. The investigators performed an endomicroscopy to every patient needing a thoracoscopy (no matter the indication) and who agreed to participate. The pCLE features between malignant and benign pleura were compared in order to find specific criteria for malignant infiltration.

FAZA PET IMAGING IN DETECTING LYMPH NODE METASTASES IN RENAL CELL CARCINOMA PATIENTS

Renal Cell Carcinoma (RCC)

In renal cell carcinoma (RCC) patients, lymph node metastases detection and treatment are the most critical issues in daily clinical decision-making. Indeed, conversely to other oncological settings, a) nodal status imaging, b) sentinel node technique and c) standard lymphadenectomy have been demonstrated inadequate in the staging and management of RCC patients. A novel, accurate, standardized imaging technique is urgently needed in RCC setting to detect macro and micro nodal invasion, to identify those patients who are at higher risk of having nodal metastases, to accurately plan the best management. Recent studies suggested combining 18F-FAZA PET with CT scanning in the detection of cancer-induced hypoxia. The investigators propose to test 18F-FAZA PET-CT in detecting nodal metastases to improve the management of RCC patients.
