Epiction of the Genomic and Genetic Landscape Identifies CCL5 as a Protective Factor in Colorectal...

Colorectal Neuroendocrine Carcinomas (CRNEC); Genomic Landscape; Genetic Landscape; Prognosis; CCL5; PAX5

Background: Colorectal neuroendocrine carcinomas (CRNECs) are highly aggressive tumours with poor prognosis and low incidence. To date, the genomic landscape and molecular pathway alterations have not been elucidated. Methods: Tissue sections and clinical information were collected as an in-house cohort (2010-2020). Large-scale genomic and genetic panels were applied to identify the genomic and genetic alterations of CRNEC. Through the depiction of the genomic landscape and transcriptome profile, we compared the difference between CRNEC and CR neuroendocrine tumours (CRNETs). Immunohistochemistry (IHC) staining and immunofluorescence (IF) staining were performed to confirm the genetic alterations.

HCC Staging Modified by Tumor Micronecrosis

Hepatocellular Carcinoma

Tumor micronecrosis is a pathological feature that reflects malignant biological behavior in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). This study aimed to evaluate the prognostic significance of tumor micronecrosis based on the current BCLC and TNM staging systems, and futher improve the performance of the staging models by establishing modified new staging models including tumor micronecrosis.

Low Grade Serous Ovarian Carcinoma and Uterine Involvement : Should Hysterectomy be the Rule

Serous Ovarian CarcinomaLow Grade Serous Ovarian Carcinoma

Investigators studied a population of 28 low grade serous ovarian carcinoma treated in Hospices civils de Lyon between 2000 and 2022. The primary objective is to determinate the rate of myometrial involvement by the cancer at pathology examination. Then, investigators compared patients with or without myometrial involvement : survival parameters, predictive factors of myometrial involvement (age, CA 125 level, surgery characteristics, pathology characteristics).

Moesin Expression in Clear Cell Renal Cell Carcinoma

Renal Cell Carcinoma

Renal cell carcinoma (RCC) is the most frequently occurring primary renal neoplasm. There are several histological variants of RCC that are associated with variable prognostic outcomes. Epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) is a phenomenon in which the epithelial cells acquire some mesenchymal criteria as enhanced invasive potential. There are several cell surface molecules that are implicated in EMT. Moesin is one of these molecules that is involved in EMT, which is associated with enhanced invasive potential and poor prognosis. Targeting Moesin by novel therapeutic agents may prevent EMT and improve prognosis of patients with RCC.

Prognostic Value of Tumor Deposits for Patients With Papillary Thyroid Carcinoma

Exploring the Prognostic Value of Tumor Deposits PTC Patients

Tumor deposits (TD), nodules in the peritumoral adipose tissue with no architectural residue of lymph node, which is a definition often being confusing to the extranodal extension (ENE), have been described in several malignancies and linked to a worse prognosis. In gastric cancer and colon cancer, TD and ENE should be distinguished and collected separately in 8th AJCC manual. However, in thyroid cancer, TD as a collection variable was absence in both the 8th AJCC manual and the 2015 ATA guideline. This is a study that revealed the presence of TD by reviewing a large number of papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) specimens and explored its prognostic value by constructing a nomogram to accurately predict disease-free survival in PTC patients.

HIV and Other Risk Factors for Esophageal Squamous Cell Carcinoma in Malawi

Esophageal Squamous Cell Carcinoma

The primary purpose of this single-center, case-control, non-interventional study is to determine risk factors which contribute to the development of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) at Kamuzu Central Hospital (KCH) and St. Gabriel Hospital (SGH) in Malawi.

Cytoreductive Surgery and Hyperthermic Intraperitoneal Chemotherapy in Peritoneal Carcinomatosis...

Gastric CancerPeritoneal Carcinomatosis

Gastric cancer associated peritoneal carcinomatosis has a poor prognosis with a median survival of less than one year. Systemic chemotherapy including targeted agents has not been found to significantly increase the survival in Gastric cancer associated peritoneal carcinomatosis. Since recurrent gastric cancer remains confined to the abdominal cavity in many patients, regional therapies like aggressive cytoreductive surgery and hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy have been investigated for Gastric cancer associated peritoneal carcinomatosis. Hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy has been used for three indications in Gastric Cancer- as an adjuvant therapy after a curative surgery, hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy has been shown to improve survival and reduce peritoneal recurrences in many randomised trials in Asian countries; as a definitive treatment in established PC, hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy along with cytoreductive surgery is the only therapeutic modality that has resulted in long-term survival in select groups of patients. While the results of randomised trials of adjuvant hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy from western centres are awaited, the role of hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy in the treatment of Gastric cancer associated peritoneal carcinomatosis is still evolving and needs larger studies before it is accepted as a standard of care.

Impacts of the α-fetoprotein (AFP) Score in Real Life for Patient Selection for Liver Transplantation...

Hepatocellular Carcinoma

This is a French multicentric retrospective study on intention-to-treat comparing results of LT for HCC before and after the use of the AFP score. The investigators hypothesis is a better respect of the Biomedicine Agency (the French national transplantation agency) criteria since the general application of this score in March 2013. The aim of this study is to determine if the tumoral characteristics at the time of LT are improved and if it modified the patients'outcome.
