Double Blind Placebo Controlled Dose Ranging Study of the Efficacy and Safety of SSR149744c 100...

ArrhythmiaTachycardia2 more

Primary objective: to assess the efficacy of SSR149744C for the prevention of ventricular arrhythmia-triggered ICD interventions. Secondary objectives: to assess versus placebo the tolerability of the different dose regimens of SSR149744C in the selected population. to document SSR149744C plasma level during the study.

Remimazolam vs Desflurane for General Anesthesia for Ablation of Arrhythmia

RemimazolamDesflurane3 more

In anesthesia for ablation for cardiac arrhythmias, abrupt hemodynamic changes or fatal arrhythmias can be seen frequently. Remimazolam is a novel ultra-short acting benzodiazepine that provides good hemodynamic stability compared to conventional anesthetic agents. This study aims to investigate whether remimazolam reduces vasoactive agent use during cryo/radiofrequancy ablation under general anesthesia, compared to desflurane(RCT).

The Efficacy of Adapted Yoga in Managing Psychosocial Risk in Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator...

Cardiac Arrhythmias

Psychosocial risks are significant in the management of patients with cardiovascular disease and implantable cardioverter defibrillators (ICD) devices. This is a randomized, controlled, clinical study. The hypothesis is that adapted yoga (vs. usual care) will significantly reduce psychosocial risks (e.g. anxiety and depression symptoms) and improve the quality of life in ICD patients. The specialized, real-time data, collected by the device provides a unique look at the electrophysiological parameters of each patient's heart.

FREEDOM - A Frequent Optimization Study Using the QuickOpt Method

Cardiac ArrhythmiasHeart Failure

The objective of this study is to demonstrate that frequent atrio-ventricular (AV/PV) and inter-ventricular (V-V) delay optimization using QuickOpt in patients with cardiac resynchronization therapy device results in improved clinical response over standard of care (i.e. empiric programming or one-time optimization using any non-intracardiac electrogram optimization methods).

Emotional Regulation in Patients With Implanted Automatic Defibrillator

Cardiac ArrhythmiaVentricular Fibrillation1 more

The general objective of the study was to evaluate the impact of two emotional regulation programs, one standardized and face-to-face (MBSR: Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction) and, another, implemented through a mobile phone application (REM_Volver a casa; ERBM_Back home: Emotional Regulation Based on Mindfulness), on the quality of life, the state emotional and psychological and biological variables associated with stress, in a sample of patients with ICD (implantable cardioverter defibrillator). The working hypotheses were that after training in emotional regulation, patients with ICD would have better quality of life, lower symptoms of anxiety, depression and hostility, and lower incidence of ventricular arrhythmias than patients in the control group, as well as that there would be no differences between the two tools used for training.

Cardiac Arrhythmias in Greenland

Atrial FibrillationArrhythmia1 more

The study is a phd-study comprising several substudies focusing on cardiac arrhythmias, mainly atrial fibrillation, among Greenlanders in Greenland. Some previous studies have indicated that the prevalence may be lower than among Westerners, however; studies have also indicated that atrial fibrillation is underdiagnosed. These studies aim to: Estimate the prevalence of AF among Greenlanders in Greenland aged 55 years or older. Estimate the prevalence of well-known risk factors among those found to have AF Explore the symptoms of those affected by AF in Greenland Among part of the participants: estimate the prevalence of autonomic neuropathy as this may cause arrhythmias.

Sparsity-based Magnetic Resonance Imaging of Cardiac Arrhythmias

Cardiac Arrythmias

The primary purpose of this study is to improve the quality of Magnetic Resonance Imaging in patients with heart arrhythmia. Investigators will recruit 105 patients with arrhythmia and 30 control volunteers over 3 years and will use two arrhythmia-tolerant imaging methods for diagnosis.

Cardiac Autonomic Regulation Enhancement Through Exercise Trial

Cardiovascular DiseaseArrhythmias

The current research study proposes to examine participants with implantable cardioverter defibrillators (ICD) who are randomly assigned to either an exercise training program intervention or a heart healthy education program intervention. We will look at changes in the functioning of the autonomic nervous system over time and between intervention groups. We are also going to be looking at changes in frequencies of the ICD participants' heart arrhythmias and ICD therapies (e.g., pacing, shock).; as well as, changes in exercise tolerance, psychological well-being, and quality of life.

Establishing a Standard for Peri-operative Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator (ICD) Patient...

Arrhythmia

An implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) administers a shock to terminate potentially life-threatening cardiac arrhythmias. The device saves lives, but presents psychological challenges for patients. At present, there is a paucity of brief interventions for ICD patients designed for administration in a clinic setting that considers issues of cost, time, and available resources. The present study examined the impact of a brief cognitive behavioral (CBT) educational intervention on primary endpoints of patient acceptance and quality of life and secondary endpoints of depression and anxiety. It was hypothesized that the intervention would result in significant improvements primary and secondary endpoints for participants in the intervention group.
