Mortality Predictors in Coronary Care in Turkey

DeathCardiac

This study was undertaken to investigate and document the mortality rates and predictors in coronary care unit (CCU) patients in Turkey. It is designed to be a multicenter, observational, cross-sectional, and descriptive study. It will be conducted in 50 centers in 12 regions of Turkey. The study does not include any interventional or treatment procedures. At the end of the study, clinicians will have up-to-date information about predictors of mortality in CCU patients.

The Circadian Rhythm of Potassium and Cystatin C

Cardiac ArrhythmiasSudden Cardiac Death

The potassium value is important to prevent cardiac arrhythmias and sudden cardiac death. In patients with renal failure, the potassium value is not stable and tends to raise. Until now there are no data available if the potassium value has a circadian rhythm and if there are individual changes from day to day.

Ethnicity and Onset of Cardiovascular Disease: A CALIBER Study

Abdominal Aortic AneurysmCoronary Heart Disease12 more

Specific cardiovascular diseases, such as stroke and heart attack, have been shown to vary by ethnic group. However, less is known about differences between ethnic groups and a wider range of cardiovascular diseases. This study will examine differences between ethnic groups (White, Black, South Asian and Mixed/Other) and first lifetime presentation of twelve different cardiovascular diseases. This information may help to predict the onset of cardiovascular diseases and inform disease prevention strategies. The hypothesis is that different ethnic groups have differing associations with the range of cardiovascular diseases studied.

An Observational Study to Assess the Risk of Out-of-Hospital Sudden Cardiac Death in Users of Domperidone,...

DeathSudden1 more

The purpose of this observational study is to assess the risk of out-of-hospital Sudden Cardiac (heart) Death (SCD) associated with current use of domperidone compared to current use of a Proton Pump Inhibitor (PPI), current use of metoclopramide, or non-use of any of these medications.

Perspectives on End-of-Life Care for Medically-Fragile Children and Young Adults

Death

Hattie Larlham is a specialized long-term care facility for pediatric and young adult residents who are medically fragile and intellectually disabled, whose daily care is provided by direct care staff, Habilitation Assistants (HA), in conjunction with nurses and other direct care providers. The purpose of this study is to assess the perspectives of HA and parents/legal guardians on end-of-life care in a long-term care facility for pediatric and young adult residents who are medically fragile and intellectually disabled.

Research on the Brain Death Determination in China

Brain DeathElectroencephalogram3 more

Purpose China has a population of 1.4 billion and an enormous medical expenditure burden, and Chinese traditional culture has a long history. It takes time to recognize and accept the concept of brain death (BD) as death. Promoting brain death determination (BDD) and rationally allocating medical resources have become major national policy issues. To identify the safest and most reliable ancillary tests needed if the clinical examination is incomplete. Method The technical group of the Brain Injury Evaluation Quality Control Center of the National Health Commission retrieved coma cases registered from 2013 to 2019. According to clinical criteria for Brain Death Determination (BDD), the patients were divided into two groups: a brain-death (BD) group and a non-BD group. The BD group was divided into a complete brain death with no doubt group (BD1 group) and an incomplete brain death with doubt group (BD2 group). Depending on the site of the brain injury, the accuracy of BDD was evaluated using the independent ancillary test or combined ancillary tests. Data from the BQCC/NHC database and yearbook were obtained, and data analysis and status comparison were conducted on six practical activities: organizational system construction, standard and specification formulation, case quality control, professional skills training, scientific research publicity and education, and international communication.

Continuous Deep Sedation Until Death

Terminal Care

This research is a descriptive observational study conducted in multicenter (intensive care and continuing care units) in France. All data collected is part of the patient record. The main objective is to describe the end-of-life sedative practices following a decision to limit or stop therapy in intensive care unit and continuing care unit.

Anti Arrhythmic Therapies and Sudden Cardiac Deaths

Heart FailureICD1 more

Failing heart negative remodeling alterations might provide electrical heterogeneity and cardiac remodeling, thus potentially contributing to the occurrence of ventricular arrhythmia and subsequent sudden cardiac death (SCD). In this study we have prospectively investigated whether serum markers of heart failure (ultra sensitive Troponin , B type Natriuretic Peptide (BNP), C reactive protein (CRP), ST protein, and adiponectin could be used as predictors for the occurrence of malignant ventricular arrhythmias in patients who had received an Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator (ICD) for primary prevention and treated by catheter ablation for ventricular arrhythmias.
