Research of the Correlation Between Metabolic Syndrome, Retinal Thickness and Visual Acuity

Visual Acuity

Purpose: To investigate the relationship between retinal thickness (RT) and metabolic risks (MRs) in patients without retinal lesion. Methods: Fifty-two patients over 60 y/o were divided into four groups according to their MRs of hypertension, hyperlipidemia or hyperglyceremia. After complete ophthalmic examination, optical coherence tomography was performed to measure RT.

Kagoshima Collaborate Trial in Metabolic Syndrome (KACT Study)

HypertensionObesity

The purpose of this study is to consider the following points in patients with hypertension who complicated by metabolic syndrome for Valsartan basis treatment and an existing, standard treatment. Blood pressure control Changing of adiponectin and plasminogen activator inhibitor-1 Influence metabolizing and cardiac function, etc.

Frequency of Metabolic Syndrome in Down Syndrome Patients

Metabolic Syndrome XDown Syndrome

The aim of this study is to assess the frequency of metabolic syndrome in Down syndrome patients because the prevalence of diabetes mellitus and obesity is higher in individuals with Down syndrome than in the general population.

Seum Bile Acid Profile in Type 2 Diabetes and Association Between Bile Cid Profile and Adipokine...

Type 2 DiabetesPrediabetes2 more

"The goal of this work is to critically test the hypothesis that there exists a different profile of bile acids (BAs) in patient with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) compared with normal controls. Through confirmation of different profile of BAs in T2DM, investigator will suggest modulation of specific bile acids as a new possible treatment target in patients with T2DM. Investigator also expect the specific BAs signature will be used to screen T2DM before hyperglycemia. In addition, investigator will evaluate the association between each BA species and serum total glucagon like peptide-1 (GLP-1) or fibroblast growth factor-19 (FGF-19) concentrations to determine if the specific BAs profile is related with total GLP-1 or FGF-19 concentration in serum. Investigatr also evaluates the correlation between each BA species and metabolic profiles and oxidative stress marker to find possible roles of each BA component in glucose metabolism.

Blopress Tablets Specified Drug-use Survey "Hypertension: Survey on Patients With Metabolic Syndrome"...

Hypertension

The purpose of this survey is designed to investigate the treatment status of hypertensive patient with metabolic syndrome-related risk factors treated with candesartan cilexetil tablets (Blopress Tablets), as well as to assess relationships between risk factors (example, visceral fat accumulation) and the incidence of cerebrovascular/cardiovascular events in an exploratory manner.

OPUS School Meal Study - Cross Sectional Analyses From Baseline Investigations

Metabolic Syndrome X

The present study is based on cross-sectional data from the baseline investigations carried out in OPUS School Meal Study - a randomized crossover study carried out in 9 primary schools in Denmark 2011-2012. Approximately 800 Danish school children from 3rd and 4th grades (8-12 year olds) took part in these baseline investigations of socioeconomic status, pubertal status, growth status, learning abilities, well-being, sleep, physical activity and risk markers of Cardiovascular Disease (CVD), type II diabetes and osteoporosis.

Evaluation of Intra-Abdominal Fat in Patients With Type 2 Diabetes Using a Non-Invasive Method

ObesityType 2 Diabetes1 more

The main aim of this study is to compare 2 different measurements of visceral fat that can be easily used in clinical practice (waist circumference versus bioelectric impedance) in relation to known risk factors of coronary artery disease in a large cohort of patients with type 2 diabetes and with a BMI range between 20-45 kg/m2

Body Composition Changes During Stem Cell Transplantation: The Case Of Lymphoma Patients

Hematopoietic Stem Cell TransplantationMalnutrition1 more

Skeletal Muscle Index (SMI) and Visceral Adipose Ratio (VAR) assess body composition changes and disclose malnutrition risk effectively. The aims of the study are to assess prevalence of malnutrition in patients planned for SCT, to characterize changes in body composition (SMI, total adipose tissue and VAR) that occur in the peri transplantation phase, and to identify Waist Circumference (WC) cut off points associated with the metabolic syndrome (MetSyn) in patients with B and T cell Lymphoma.
