Role of Eicosapentaenoic Acid (EPA) and Docosahexaenoic Acid (DHA) on Inflammation and Lipids
Metabolic SyndromeThe objective of this study is to provide critical information regarding both common and distinctive roles of EPA and DHA in systemic inflammation and lipid metabolism.
Effect of Gymnema Sylvestre on Metabolic Syndrome and Insulin
Metabolic SyndromeGymnema sylvestre has demonstrated promising effects in the treatment of obesity, dyslipidemia, hypertension, insulin secretion, among others. The above mentioned findings show that Gymnema sylvestre has an excellent potential for the prevention and treatment of metabolic syndrome.
Effect of Irvingia Gabonensis Administration on Metabolic Syndrome, Insulin Secretion and Insulin...
Metabolic Syndrome XThe metabolic syndrome is a high prevalence disease worldwide. About a quarter of the adult population suffers from the disease and predispose the onset of diseases like cardiovascular disease and diabetes mellitus type 2. The first line of treatment for metabolic syndrome is diet and exercise but patients have a low attachment to the treatment, so pharmacologic therapy is required. There is no a single drug that could help to the treatment of all metabolic syndrome components. Irvingia gabonensis, better known as African mango, is widely consumed in central and western Africa, mainly the fruit and seeds. Besides being part of the diet of African the seeds have been used for the treatment of diseases such as dysentery, diabetes and as an analgesic. Resent investigations have demonstrated that an extract of African mango seeds induce significantly weight loss in subjects with obesity, and also improves some biochemical parameters such as glucose and the lipid profile. The aim of this study is to evaluate the effect of Irvingia gabonensis on metabolic syndrome, insulin secretion and insulin sensitivity.
Effect of a Low Glycemic Index on Metabolic Syndrome
Metabolic Syndrome XMetabolic Syndrome (MetS) is a cluster of multiple risk factors of metabolic origin associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes mellitus and other diseases, including some cancers. There has been an increased interest of researchers in the relationship between MetS and diet and, specifically, Mediterranean diet would be beneficial for people with high risk of developing MetS or individuals with established MetS.

Abdominal ObesityMetabolic SyndromeTo evaluate the effectiveness of acupuncture therapy combined with healthy education for patients with abdominal obesity.
Effectiveness of Tai Chi Training on Metabolic Syndrome
Metabolic SyndromeMetabolic syndrome (MetS) is a serious public health problem in Hong Kong and worldwide. Older adults, the age group with the highest prevalence of MetS, may prefer specific exercise modalities that are suitable for their regular participation to manage MetS. This project aims to evaluate the effectiveness of Tai Chi, a very suitable exercise for older adults, to alleviate MetS in older population
Induced and Controlled Dietary Ketosis as a Regulator of Obesity and Metabolic Syndrome Pathologies...
Metabolic SyndromeDiabetes Mellitus2 moreOriginal research article entitled Induced and Controlled Dietary Ketosis as a Regulator of Obesity and Metabolic Syndrome by Madeline Gibas for consideration for publication in a clinical journal. This research manuscript builds on previous landmark studies that report that major weight and fat mass loss in type II (T2D) patients who were fed a very low carbohydrate, ketogenic diet. In this manuscript, the investigators outline our research study that showed statistically significant (p < 0.05) changes over time in hemoglobin A1c, weight, BMI, body fat percentage and ketones for patients with metabolic syndrome who were fed a very low carbohydrate diet, ketogenic diet.

Metabolic SyndromeObjective: To show metabolic and hormonal responses and effects on abdominal obesity of aerobic exercise in different intensity and duration and detraining period in women with metabolic syndrome.
Berberine Treat Metabolic Syndrome in Schizophrenia
Metabolic SyndromeFemale1 moreIn early clinical study investigators confirmed that berberine could prevent glucose and lipid metabolism disorder in schizophrenia, so investigators intend to verify the effect and safety of berberine in treatment for metabolic syndrome in schizophrenia.
