The Volume Effect of Nerve Hydrodissection for Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

Carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) is the most common peripheral entrapment neuropathy with involving compression of the median nerve in the carpal tunnel. Although many conservative managements of CTS, the effectiveness of these methods is insignificant or only persist for a short duration. The technique of nerve hydrodissection is now commonly used for peeling the nerve from surrounding soft tissue, which may help allow the impulse to pass, and rescue the nerve with ischemic damage. However, the exact effect and interval of hydrodissection are unknown because of the lack of well-designed studies Hence, investigators design a randomized, double- blind, controlled trail to assess the therapeutic effect of ultrasound-guided nerve hydrodissection in patients with CTS.

Myofascial Release on Electrophysiological Measures of Pregnant Women With CTS

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

Objective: To explore the effect of myofascial release on electrophysiological and clinical measures of pregnant women with carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS). Design: Randomized controlled trial. Methods: Thirty pregnant women had CTS, their age ranged from 25-35 years, were randomized into two equal groups. The control group only wore a natural wrist splint during sleeping for 4 weeks, while the study group received a myofascial release in addition to wearing a natural wrist splint during sleeping for 4 weeks. All pregnant women in both groups were evaluated pre and post-treatment through median nerve distal motor latency (DML) and Boston carpal tunnel questionnaire (BCTQ) to assess pain, numbness & tingling sensation severity and hand function.

Effectiveness of Neurodynamic Techniques for the Treatment of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

Carpal tunnel syndrome CTS is the most common peripheral neuropathy seen in clinic. It results in marked functional limitations of patients. Most patients undergo surgical release which places a heavy burden on health system. Neurodynamic exercise is claimed to be an effective physiotherapy treatment for these patients. It is a practical and complications-free treatment which can be used as a home exercise program. This study aims to investigate the effect of median nerve gliding exercise on symptoms severity and functional limitation in CTS patients.

The Effect of Perineural Injection Therapy in Patients With Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

Carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) is the most common peripheral entrapment neuropathy with involving compression of the median nerve in the carpal tunnel. Rather than other progressive disease, CTS is characterized by remission and recurrence. Although many conservative managements of CTS, the effectiveness of these methods is insignificant or only persist for a short duration. Recently, the ultrasound-guided perineural injection with 5% dextrose was widely used for entrapment neuropathy with positive benefit. However, current studies have not entirely proved the effects of perineural injection on peripheral neuropathy because these studies enrolled small number of patients and lacked controlled design. The investigators design a randomized, double-blind, controlled trail to assess the effect after ultrasound-guided perineural injection with 5% dextrose in patients with CTS.

Diacutaneous Fibrolysis on Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

Diacutaneous Fibrolysis is a manual method of treatment, addressed to mechanical pain of the neuromusculoskeletal system. In the clinical practice a favorable effect is observed in patients with carpal tunnel syndrome, but there is no published studies evaluating the results os this technique. The objective of this trial is to evaluate if Diacutaneous Fibrolysis is more effective in symptoms, function, grip, mechanosensitivity and neural conduction velocity compared to a placebo. For this purpose the investigators conduct a randomized controlled trial double-blind (patient and examiner). The investigators included patients diagnosed of carpal tunnel syndrome (low to moderate intensity) with a neurophysiological test. Patients included are randomized into 2 groups one receive Diacutaneous Fibrolysis and the other placebo. Both groups receive 5 treatment sessions. The variables are measured at the beginning and end of treatment. And also some variables are measured before and after each session. Patients who participated in placebo group, when the intervention finish the investigators will be given the opportunity to receive the actual technique

Platelet Rich Plasma and Perineural Injection Therapy for Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

The platelet rich plasma (PRP) is a new and potential treatment for patients with kinds of musculoskeletal disorders and recent reports showed being beneficial for peripheral neuropathy in animal studies. Since 2014, two small clinical trials showed the positive effect of PRP in peripheral neuropathy. One study shown the PRP has therapeutic effect for peripheral neuropathy in patients with leprosy. In addition, PRP having protective effect against neurological deficit of facial nerve during superficial parotidectomy. However, these studies have not entirely proved the effects of PRP on peripheral neuropathy because these studies enrolled small number of patients and lacked controlled design. In addition, the PRP was not used for treating CTS so far. The investigators design a randomized, double-blind, controlled trail to assess the effect after ultrasound-guided PRP injection in patients with CTS.

IMS-treatment and Canalis Carpi Syndrome

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

Carpal tunnel syndrome is a condition in which the median nerve is compressed at the wrist, leading to paresthesias, numbness and muscle weakness in the hand. Treatment of the condition often involves surgery. In this study we wish to se if there is an effect of using intramuscular stimulation (IMS) to release the tension of nervus medianus in the lower arm. The study will be performed by randomization to IMS of musculus pronator teres or a control ("Scam IMS treatment" to the acupuncture point Li11). The two insertion points are approximately 1cm apart in the lower arm.
