Efficacy and Safety Evaluation of MONOBLUE DUAL View and MONOBLUE ILM View Vital Stains

Macular HolesMacular Pucker1 more

In this study, the investigators aim to collect data regarding the efficiency and safety of two dyes used intraoperatively in vitrectomy to stain intraocular tissues. These products have the necessary approvals to use during such operation,These are NOT experimental products.

Outcomes Based on the Pre-operative Integrity of IS/OS Junction in Idiopathic Epimacular Membrane...

Epimacular Membrane

The aim of this study is to evaluate whether the pre-operative integrity or not of the inner segment (IS) and outer segment (OS) photoreceptoral junction may influence the post-operative visual acuity, the macular morphology (assessed by Spectral Domain-Optical Coherence Tomography (SD-OCT)) and function (evaluated by Multifocal Electroretinogram -mfERG) in patients with idiopathic epimacular membrane (EMM) followed-up for 6-month. In this observational prospective study, EMM patients are enrolled. They are divided into 2 groups in relationship to the pre-operative integrity of the SD-OCT IS/OS junction: the group with an intact IS/OS junction (EMM-I Group) and the group with a disrupted IS/OS junction (EMM-D Group). For each enrolled patient, visual acuity (VA), mfERG and SD-OCT were assessed at baseline (pre-operative) and after 1, 3 and 6 months of follow-up after surgical treatment for EMM (pars plana vitrectomy with EMM removal and internal limiting membrane peeling).

Microperimetry and Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) in Idiopathic Epiretinal Membrane

Epiretinal Membrane

Purpose: To evaluate macular sensitivity and its correlation with visual acuity and Spectral Domain Optical Coherence Tomography (SD-OCT) in eyes with idiopathic epiretinal membrane (ERM). Design: Cross sectional case-control series. Methods: Setting: Dijon University Hospital. Patients: Forty nine patients (49 eyes) with idiopathic ERM and twenty-seven healthy patients (27 eyes) as a control group. Main outcome measurement: Microperimetry, Spectral Domain Optical Coherence Tomography (SD-OCT).

27-gauge Vitrectomy Wound Integrity: a Prospective, Randomized Trial Comparing Angled Versus Straight...

Epiretinal Membrane

To prospectively compare clinical outcomes using straight (perpendicular) versus angled trocar insertion during 27 gauge pars plana vitrectomy surgery for epiretinal membrane Primary Endpoints: Sclerotomy suture rates and incidence of suture blebs at the end of 27 gauge MIVS. Secondary Endpoints: Rate of postoperative wound-related complications such as hypotony, choroidal detachments, endophthalmitis, and sclerotomy-related retinal tears with a minimum follow-up of 30 days.

Choroidal Thickness Vitrectomy

Epiretinal Membrane

The purpose of this study is to assess the influence of vitrectomy on changes in central choroidea and comparing the results in imaging of the choroidea with two different OCT devices. This is a prospective, open, non-randomized, observational, MPG study This study will be performed at the Department of Ophthalmology, Medical University of Vienna. 40 Patients who undergo vitrectomy will be included into this study. The investigation will help to gain new information about the effects of vitrectomy on the choroid.

Comparison of Two Techniques for Epiretinal or Internal Limiting Membrane Peel

Epiretinal MembraneVitreomacular Traction

Epiretinal membranes (ERM) are cellular membranes on the surface of the retina that result in distortion of the vision (metamorphopsia), and decreased best-corrected visual acuity. They are most frequently found in patients over the age of 50 and have a reported prevalence of 7-12%. [1,2] Epiretinal membranes are caused by posterior vitreous separation, retinal detachment, proliferative vitreoretinopathy, cataract surgery, trauma, inflammation, retinal vascular disease, and idiopathic. [1-4] Epiretinal membrane removal by pars plana vitrectomy combined with internal limiting membrane peeling leads to improved vision, decreased metamorphopsia, and improved quality of life after surgery. [2] Internal limiting membrane (ILM) peel has been associated with decreased rates of epiretinal membrane recurrence and is also performed during vitrectomy for repair of macular holes or vitreomacular traction. [5,6] Internal limiting membrane peeling can be performed by using an instrument to make a break in the membrane followed by peeling with forceps, or by utilizing ILM forceps alone to pinch and peel an unviolated ILM. No study exists comparing different intraoperative techniques used for ILM peeling on visual outcomes and operating time. The investigators hypothesize that using a "pinch and peel" technique will equal outcomes with shorter operating time than other techniques. McDonald HR, Johnson RN, Ai E, Jumper JM, Fu AD.
