Ixabepilone in Treating Young Patients With Solid Tumors or Leukemia That Haven't Responded to Therapy...
Brain and Central Nervous System TumorsChildhood Germ Cell Tumor9 moreRATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. PURPOSE: This phase I trial is studying the side effects and best dose of ixabepilone in treating young patients with relapsed or refractory solid tumors or leukemia.
Imatinib Mesylate in Treating Patients With Gliomas
Brain and Central Nervous System TumorsRATIONALE: Imatinib mesylate may interfere with the growth of tumor cells and slow the growth of the tumor. PURPOSE: Phase II trial to study the effectiveness of imatinib mesylate in treating patients who have gliomas.
Topotecan in Treating Patients With Recurrent Brain Tumors
Brain and Central Nervous System TumorsRATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. PURPOSE: Phase II trial to study the effectiveness of topotecan in treating patients with recurrent brain tumor.
Motexafin Gadolinium Plus Radiation Therapy in Treating Patients With Newly Diagnosed Glioblastoma...
Brain and Central Nervous System TumorsRATIONALE: Radiation therapy uses high-energy x-rays to damage tumor cells. Motexafin gadolinium may increase the effectiveness of radiation therapy by making tumor cells more sensitive to radiation. PURPOSE: Phase I trial to study the effectiveness of motexafin gadolinium plus radiation therapy in treating patients who have newly diagnosed glioblastoma multiforme.
Carmustine in Treating Adults With Recurrent Supratentorial Low-Grade Glioma
Brain and Central Nervous System TumorsRATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. PURPOSE: Phase II trial to study the effectiveness of carmustine in treating adults with recurrent supratentorial low-grade glioma.
Irinotecan in Treating Patients With Recurrent Malignant Glioma
Brain and Central Nervous System TumorsRATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. PURPOSE: Phase I/II trial to study the effectiveness of irinotecan in treating patients with recurrent malignant glioma.
Combination Chemotherapy Plus Radiation Therapy in Treating Adult Patients With Brain Cancer
Brain and Central Nervous System TumorsRATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Radiation therapy uses high-energy x-rays to damage tumor cells. Combining more than one drug and combining chemotherapy with radiation therapy may kill more tumor cells. PURPOSE: Phase II trial to study the effectiveness of combination chemotherapy followed by radiation therapy in treating adult patients with brain cancer.
Combination Chemotherapy Followed by Bone Marrow and/or Peripheral Stem Cell Transplantation in...
Brain TumorCentral Nervous System TumorRATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so that they stop growing or die. bone marrow transplantation and peripheral stem cell transplantation may allow the doctor to give higher doses of chemotherapy drugs and kill more tumor cells. PURPOSE: Phase II trial to study the effectiveness of combination chemotherapy followed by bone marrow transplantation and/or peripheral stem cell transplantation in treating patients who have recurrent medulloblastoma or CNS germ cell tumors.
Combination Chemotherapy and Tamoxifen in Treating Patients With Solid Tumors
Adrenocortical CarcinomaBrain and Central Nervous System Tumors5 moreRATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as cisplatin and doxorubicin, work in different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Estrogen can stimulate the growth of tumor cells. Hormone therapy using tamoxifen may fight cancer by blocking the uptake of estrogen. Combining tamoxifen with chemotherapy may kill more tumor cells. PURPOSE: This phase II trial is studying how well giving cisplatin and doxorubicin together with tamoxifen works in treating patients with solid tumors.
Carboplatin in Patients With Progressive Gliomas
Brain and Central Nervous System TumorsRATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. PURPOSE: Phase II trial to study the effectiveness of carboplatin in patients with progressive glioma.
