The Neurological Pupil Index (NPi) on Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Trial
Hypoxic EncephalopathyThe trial will evaluate the use of the "Neurological Pupil index" NPi, measured with the digital pupillometer (NeurOptics) compared to clinical examination for better reliability. The investigators hypothesize that digital evaluation will offer a higher sensitivity/ specificity compared to clinical examination.
Central Venous Catheter Colonisation Among Critically Ill Patients in Intensive Care Units
SepsisSeptic Shock6 moreBackground: Central Venous catheter insertion technique and indwelling time are major risk factors for CVC colonisation. Colonisation occurs through microbial migration and biofilm formation along the catheter insertion tract. This study set out to determine the prevalence and associated factors for central venous catheter colonisation among critically ill patient. No data exists in this clinical setting addressing this topic. Methods: The study population included 100 participants with central venous catheters in situ for at least 24 hours. Catheter tip (distal 5-cm segment) and blood cultures (10mls peripheral blood) were obtained at the time of catheter removal.
Monitoring Hypertensive Patients's Cerebral Oxygen Saturation
Surgical Complications From General AnesthesiaHypertension2 moreThe purpose of this study is to determine whether there is a significant decrease in cerebral oxygen saturation in hypertensive patients undergoing major abdominal surgery and their correlation with standard monitoring parameters.
Sevoflurane Decreases the Risk of Postoperative Delirium After Cerebral Hypoxemia During Surgery...
Cerebral HypoxiaPostoperative DeliriumThe aim of this study is to distinguish possible differences in frequency of delirium after Volatile Induction and Maintenance of Anesthesia and Total Intravenous Anesthesia in case of undeliberate cerebral desaturation during non-cardiac surgery.
Continuous, Non-invasive Monitoring of Intraoperative Cerebral Perfusion and Oxidative Metabolism...
Brain Hypoxia IschemiaThis study uses a CPOM Optical neuromonitor to assess the relationship between brain cytochrome C oxidase, cerebral oxygen saturation and blood pressure during surgery performed under general anesthesia.
Cerebral Bloodflow and Carbondioxide Reactivity During Mild Therapeutic Hypothermia in Patients...
Cardiac ArrestPost-Anoxic EncephalopathySurvivors of a cardiac arrest frequently develop severe postanoxic encephalopathy. Derangements in cerebral blood after return of spontaneous circulation play an important role in the pathogenesis of postanoxic encephalopathy. In the present study we examine the effect of mild therapeutic hypothermia on cerebral blood flow and carbondioxide reactivity in patients after cardiac arrest.
Long Term Prognostic of Neonatal Hypoxic Ischemic Encephalopathy With Hypothermia Treatment
Ischemic-Hypoxic EncephalopathyThe primary objective is to evaluate neonatal characteristics, and biological and clinical investigations as predictive factors of death, or of severe and moderate neurodevelopmental disability at 3 years, in a large population-based cohort of full-term and late preterm neonates with moderate or severe HIE. Contrary to most previous studies which have often analyzed the accuracy of one factor among all other clinical investigations, the investigators objective's is to seek a relevant combination of several factors among the following list: Neonatal characteristics: gestational age and birthweight, maternal disease, acute intrapartum event, delivery mode, acidosis, neurological examination, place of birth and neonatal transfer Laboratory investigations: pH, lactates and new biological markers as detailed below Clinical investigations: aEEG, EEG, MRI, diffusion-weighted MRI
