Correlation of Cerebral Oxygen Saturation Measured From 2 Sensor Sites: Forehead vs. Temporal

Cardiac surgery and neurosurgery may decrease cerebral blood flow leading to cerebral dysfunction. Regional cerebral oxygen saturation (rScO2) monitor via Near-infrared spectometry (NIRS) is recommended for early detection and correction. The standard site of NIRS sensor is forehead area which is impractical in operation with incision at forehead area. The investigators suggest an alternative sensor site at temporal area. The objective of this study is to assess the correlation of rScO2 measured from sensor attached at forehead vs. temporal area.

Tissue Oxygenation During Treatment of Infant Congenital Heart Defects

Background: Acute kidney injury (AKI) is a common and serious postoperative complication in children with congenital heart disease. In this prospective cohort study, we tested the hypothesis that renal desaturation defined as a 20% decline of renal tissue oxygen saturation (SrtO2) from the baseline value is associated with AKI in infants undergoing ventricular septal defect (VSD) repair with cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB). Methods: Infants aged 1 months to 12 months and scheduled to undergo VSD repair with CPB were eligible. SrtO2 was monitored using a tissue near-infrared spectroscopy. Renal desaturation was defined as a decrease of SrtO2 measurement from the baseline value for more than 20% lasting for more than 60 s. The primary outcome was the incidence of AKI on postoperative 1-3 days according to the Kidney Disease: Improving Global Outcomes criteria. The secondary outcomes included different stages of AKI, duration of postoperative mechanical ventilation, duration of intensive care unit (ICU) and hospital stay, renal replacement therapy (RRT), and in-hospital mortality.

Cerebral infarcts represent a major cause of morbidity/mortality in spite of therapeutics for a premature recanalisation (intravenous recombinant tissue plasminogen activator (rt-PA) and thrombectomy). Thrombolysis failure by the administration of rt-PA is frequent, in particular in proximal occlusion. Experimental studies suggest that neutrophils could play an important role in the thrombus development via the organization of a network (NET) within the thrombus. Targeting this network of NET could, in addition to the fibrinolysis, increase the rate of recanalisation and thus improve the neurological prognostic after a cerebral infarct. Dyslipidemia Management in Chinese Post Stroke Patients

The purpose of this study is to provide current and reliable data of dyslipidimia management together with control situation of blood pressure and glucose for post-stroke patients within 6-12 months from attack, and also the association between patient characteristics and control rate of lipids in this population. It is an non-interventional study, no study specified treatment is required.Approximately 5000 post ischemic stroke patients within 6-12 months from attack will enter into the study. Fifty centres from different regions of China will participate in this study.
