Comparison of Efficacy of Sensory Integration Therapy in Children With Cerebral Palsy

Cerebral Palsy

In this we are comparing efficacy of sensory integration therapy as an adjunct to standard care with standard care alone in improving gross motor skills in cerebral palsy children with sensory processing abnormalities.Existing literature points towards presence of sensory processing abnormalities in children with cerebral palsy. However, there is lack of robust evidence for usefulness of sensory integration therapy in cerebral palsy children .Standard therapy outcome in improving functional motor skills, adaptive responses are variable in children with cerebral palsy.Sensory integration therapy in addition to standard therapy may further improve adaptive and functional motor skills in children with cerebral palsy.

Effect of Botulinum Toxin Type A Associated With Physical Therapy on Children With Spastic Cerebral...

Cerebral PalsySpastic2 more

Purpose: The aim of this study was investigate the effects of botulinum toxin type A (BoNT-A) associated with physical therapy on the functional capacity of children with spastic cerebral palsy (CP). Material and methods: Twenty-four children with spastic CP were concealed and randomly assigned to the Experimental Group (EG) consisting of 12 patients treated with BoNT-A and physical therapy and Control with 12 patients treated only with physical therapy. All participants were assessed through motor and functional scales (GMFM-88, Ashworth, Berg Balance Scale, TUG test and Pediatric Evaluation of Disability Inventory) at three different times: before and after 30 days of treatment as well as 3 months after the end of treatment.

Sensory Stimulation During CIMT

Cerebral Palsy

The long-term goal of this project is to assess the impact of the novel sensory stimulation technique in enhancing outcomes of constraint-induced movement therapy (CIMT) in children with cerebral palsy. This is a pilot project.

Mobility Exercises for Gait (MEG Neuroplasticity Project)

Cerebral Palsy

This study is directed at identifying a the neurophysiological changes seen in children with cerebral palsy (CP) after undergoing physical therapy. The specific aims of the study will: (1) determine the changes in the sensorimotor cortical activity after physical therapy, (2) determine the mobility, participation and muscular performance improvements after therapy, and (3) determine the changes in a child's participation in activities outside of the laboratory environment.

The Effects of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Programs Following Botulinum Toxin on Children With...

Cerebral Palsy

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of Physiotherapy and rehabilitation program on body functions and structures, activity and participation levels, personal and environmental factors following Multilevel Botulinum toxin (BT) injections on ambulatory children with Cerebral Palsy (CP). Two physiotherapy and rehabilitation methods which are structural goal directed activity based physiotherapy (intervention group; 10 children with ambulatory Cerebral Palsy) and unstructured routine physiotherapy (control group; 10 children with ambulatory Cerebral Palsy) will be compared.

Bike Skills Training for Children With Cerebral Palsy

Cerebral Palsy

An assessor blinded multi-centre randomized controlled trial will be conducted in which 60 participants will be randomized to either a novel task-specific approach to training bike skills or a parent-led home program comparison group. Baseline assessment will take place within 6 weeks prior to starting the intervention (T0) and outcomes will be assessed within a week following (T1); and at 12 - 14 weeks following (T2) the week long intervention. The primary outcome is attainment of individualised two-wheel bike specific goals at T1. All statistical analysis will be conducted on an intention-to-treat basis. Logistic regression will be used to assess the effect of providing the novel intervention compared to the parent-led home program on bike-specific goal attainment.

Stem Cells in Umbilical Blood Infusion for CP

Cerebral Palsy

This study will investigate the safety of single dose intravenous infusion of cord blood cells which were cryopreserved after the birth of a brother or sister to a child with cerebral palsy.

The Effects of Functional Strengthening in Spastic Cerebral Palsy

Spastic Cerebral Palsy

Functional strengthening exercises have been proven to be effective in patients with spastic cerebral palsy. However, which exercise is the most effective is unknown. The aim of this study is to examine the effectiveness of three different progressive functional exercise programs in children with unilateral and bilateral spastic cerebral palsy.

Cerebral PalsyNeuromuscular Scoliosis

The effect of a modular seating system on coronal and sagittal balance of the spine and pelvic obliquity in children with non-ambulatory (Gross Motor Function Classification System Level IV-V) and scoliosis The hypothesis in our study is; a modular adaptive seating system prevents the progression of spinal curvature and Reimer's maturation index, improves the sagittal balance of the spine and pelvic obliquity.
