Subarachnoid HemorrhageStroke4 moreBackground: Although placement of an intra-cerebral catheter remains the gold standard method for measuring intracranial pressure (ICP), there are several limitations to the method. Objectives: The main objective of this study was to compare the correlation and the agreement of the wave morphology between the ICP (standard ICP monitoring) and a new nICP monitor in patients admitted with stroke. Our secondary objective was to estimate the accuracy of four non-invasive methods to assess intracranial hypertension. Methods: We prospectively collected data of adults admitted to an intensive care unit (ICU) with subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH), intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) or ischemic stroke (IS) in whom invasive ICP monitoring placed. Measures had been simultaneously collected from the following non-invasive indices: optic nerve sheath diameter (ONSD), pulsatility index (PI) using transcranial Doppler (TCD), a 5-point visual scale designed for Computed Tomography (CT) and two parameters (time-to-peak [TTP] and P2/P1 ratio) of a non-invasive ICP wave morphology monitor (Brain4care[B4c]). Intracranial hypertension was defined as an invasively measured ICP > 20 mmHg for at least five minutes.

StrokeSelective motor control is defined as the ability to perform the movement in isolation without revealing movement in another joint, without mirror movements, without using a flexor or extensor pattern in the extremities during a desired movement in one joint. Evaluation of selective motor control is important to predict future functional status in adult stroke patients. The Fugl-Meyer Upper Extremity Motor Rating Scale is the basic test in the assessment of motor functions in stroke patients. However, this test is a complicated scale and it takes more than one hour to complete the rating of the patient; Physicians without experience cannot perform the test because it is difficult. This planned study aims to demonstrate the validity and reliability of Selective Control of the Upper Extremity Scale (SCUES) in the evaluation of selective motor control of upper extremity in stroke patients; thus, it aims to present SCUES to medical professionals as a practical clinical tool to be used in stroke.

StrokeBackground: Although low-fat dairy products are an integral part of a diet recommended for stroke prevention, the role of dairy fat in relation to the risk of stroke is not yet clear. Objective: Therefore the association of adipose tissue content of fatty acids, for which dairy products are a major source (12:0, 14:0, 14:1 cis-9, 15:0, 17:0, 18:1 trans-11 and 18:2 cis-9, trans-11), with incident total stroke and stroke subtypes will be investigated. Design: The study is a case-cohort study nested within the Danish Diet, Cancer and Health cohort, including all incident stroke cases and a random sample of the total cohort.The fatty acid composition of adipose tissue biopsies was determined by gas chromatography and the content of specific fatty acids was expressed as percentage of total fatty acids. Stroke cases were identified in the Danish National Patient Registry and the diagnoses were individually verified. Cox proportional hazard regression will be used to estimate the association between fatty acids and stroke.
