Dry Needling for Patients With Neck Pain
Neck PainThe aim of this trial will be to examine the short and long term effectiveness of dry needling on pain, disability, and patient perceived improvements in patients with neck pain attending physical therapy. The investigators hypothesize that patients who receive dry needling, manual therapy, and exercise will achieve greater reductions in pain and disability in the short (4 weeks) and long term (6 and 12 months) compared to those who receive sham dry needling, manual therapy, and exercise.
Scapular Stabilization Exercise on Neck Pain
Neck PainNeck pain is a very common problem in the population. Most of the patients suffer from neck pain for long time and the problem becomes chronic. The investigators studied the effects of scapular stabilization exercise on mechanical neck pain.
Study of Opioid Use After Lumbar and Cervical Spine Surgery
Low Back PainOpiate Addiction1 moreThe purpose of this project is to assess the impact of an educational video on the use of prescription opioid medication during a 6-month period following spine surgery. Subjects will be recruited from the pool of patients coming in for the pre-operative appointment prior to spine surgery. Patients that consent and enroll will be randomized to receive either a brief educational video at this appointment or usual care. Patients will be followed after surgery weekly for the first month, and then again at 6 months to determine their prescription opioid medication utilization patterns. Prescription data will also be pulled from electronic medical records.
The Effects of Cupping Massage in Patients With Chronic Neck Pain - A Randomized Controlled Trial...
Neck PainMechanical/Motor Problems With Neck and TrunkThe study aims to investigate the influence of 5 cupping massage treatments on chronic non specific neck pain. 50 patients with neck pain are randomised into cupping treatment and waiting list control group. Before and after the intervention the investigators evaluate the neck pain (VAS), the neck related disability (NDI), pain on movement (POM) and the quality of life (SF36) and safety. To investigate neurophysiological effects of cupping the investigators also measure mechanical detection threshold (MDT), vibration detection threshold (VDT) and pressure pain threshold (PPT) and the two point discrimination threshold at pain related and control areas. The treatment group receives 5 cupping treatments over a period of 3 weeks.
Effectiveness of a Pain Education Program on Chronic Neck Pain Patients
Neck PainThis project aims to study the effectiveness of a pain education program in the improvement of chronic pain and disability/impairment. Assuming the definition established in the United States in 1975 on the fourth working group of the National Conference on Preventive Medicine: "Health education must be a process that informs, motivates and helps people to adopt and maintain practices and healthy lifestyles, environmental advocates changes necessary to facilitate these objectives and professional training and directs research towards the same objectives. " Once the need of educating patients is stablished on subjects with diseases, it is necessary to encourage them to actively participate on the control of them and to achieve significant improvement of adherence
PNE Effectiveness Cluster Trial
Neck PainLow Back Pain1 moreThis is a cluster randomized trial that involves training regions of physical therapy clinics to use pain neuroscience education or continue with usual care. The investigators will examine outcomes for patients with chronic neck or back pain.
Evaluation of the Efficacy of Cervical Pillows in Subjects With Non-specific Chronic Neck Pain
Neck PainThis randomized controlled with cross-over trial aims to investigate the efficacy of a cervical pillow (the "Viscospring PostuRite" made by SOFF-ART S.r.l. Via Maestri del Lavoro 49 - 05100 Terni, Italy) versus education in non-specific chronic neck pain. More specifically, effectiveness will be measured using the following outcome measures: pain, disability, sleep quality, cervical pillow satisfaction, and global perception of the treatment effectiveness.
Effects of Single Thoracic Manipulation and Special Massage Technique (RT Technique) on Chronic...
Neck PainThis study aims to compare the immediate effects of using a single thoracic manipulation combined with special massage technique (RT technique) and single thoracic manipulation alone on pain level at rest, cervical range of motion, upper limb neurodynamic test, neck disability, and adverse effects in chronic mechanical neck pain patients.
Addition of 3D Posture Corrective Orthosis to A Multimodal Program of Treatment Of NSNP.
Neck PainNonspecific neck pain (NSNP) is one of the most common musculoskeletal problems treated by orthopaedic physicians and physiotherapists . NSNP has an annual incidence rate of 38 to 73% and a lifetime prevalence of approximately 48%, leading to both economic and social problems.
The Value of Traction in the Treatment of Cervical Radiculopathy
RadiculopathyNeck Pain4 moreThe purpose of this study is to determine the effectiveness of adding mechanical traction to standard physical therapy treatments for patients with neck and arm pain.
