Effects of Cervical Proprioceptive Training in CMNP

Chronic Neck Pain

It is a randomized control trial will be conducted at Federal Government Polyclinic hospital on 44 chronic mechanical neck pain patients. Patients will be recruited in the study through non probability purposive sampling. Random allocation will be done through toss coin method into two groups; Conventional Physiotherapy Control group (n=22) and Proprioceptive training Experimental group (n=22). Research data will be collected through structural questionnaires. Tools will be used to collect data are NPRS, NDI, Goniometer (Cervical ROMs) and proprioception.

Isometric Exercises With and Without Pressure Biofeedback in Computer Users With Cervical Spine...

PainNeck

Neck pain is defined as the pain experienced from the base of the skull or occiput to the upper part of the back and extending laterally to the outer and superior bounds of the shoulder blade. Office work is a kind of job that demands sitting for prolonged time requiring the use of computer. These two factors are mainly responsible for overloading of the spine. Neck pain and computer users are clearly connected due to extended periods of sitting in a certain position with no breaks to stretch the neck muscles. Prolonged computer use with neck bent forward will cause the anterior neck muscles to gradually get shorter and tighter, while the muscles in the back of neck will grow longer and weaker. These changes will lead to development of neck pain. Neck problem also accounts for a large proportion of occupational illness and disability. Neck pain is common among computer workers in our country and contributes importantly to the demand for medical services and the economic burden of absence from work due to sickness. The main purpose of this randomized clinical trial will be to find out the effects of Isometric exercises with and without Pressure Biofeedback Unit on Cervical pain and Muscle strength in Computer users with cervical spine overload. Patients will be recruited in the study by convenient sampling technique after that will be allocated to groups by simple random assignment with an inclusion criteria having chronic neck pain for more than 3 months, current pain level ranging greater than 3 on NPRS, patient with minimum and moderate disability and male and female computer users with age 25 to 40 years with cervical pain. Patients with history of cervical trauma, postural deformity, spinal cord deformity, current pregnancy and significant neurological deficits were excluded. Numeric Pain Rating Scale (NPRS) and Neck Disability Index (NDI) will be used to measure before and after treatment session. Treatment will be given to both groups for 4 weeks and each group will receive 3 sessions per week. After collecting the data it will entered and analysed using Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) version 25. Data will be assessed by using parametric/ non parametric test after completion of the study.

Effect of Proprioceptive Exercises on Pain and Function in Non-specific Chronic Neck Pain

Neck Pain

This study was conducted to see the effect of proprioceptive exercises on pain and function in Non-specific chronic neck pain. Twenty participants with chronic Non-specific neck pain were enrolled in this study. During the final week of treatment, 14 patients were assessed at the end of the sixth treatment week. Participants were randomized into two groups treatment group and control group. Both groups were treated with conventional treatment which were strengthening exercises. Treatment group was also treated by proprioception exercises. For measurement of pain and disability NPRS and NDI scales were used. Exercise regime distributed in six weeks period one session per week exercise, 10-12 repetitions with 1-minute rest interval, lasted 45 minutes in both groups. pre-treatment and post-treatment measurements were taken.

The Effectiveness of Acupuncture Therapy on Pain in Parkinson's Disease

Parkinson DiseasePain1 more

Parkinson's Disease (PD) is a chronic, progressive, degenerative movement disorder that is characterized by motor and nonmotor symptoms and its incidence increases with age. It has been reported that 40-90% of patients have pain symptoms in PD. Pain can be the result of motor fluctuations, dystonic muscle contractions, deep visceral pain, and musculoskeletal pain.

The Inhibition of Sternocleidomastoideus Muscle

Neck PainMassage1 more

Neck pain (NP) is a major public health problem with high prevalence, high cost of health expenditure and loss of productivity. The incidence of NP is increasing among adults and it has been reported to occur in 12-34% of the total population. Exercise programs applied to individuals with NP include craniocervical flexion exercises that focus on the increase in activation of deep cervical flexor muscles and a decrease in the activation of superficial cervical flexors. Falla et al. noted that people with NP also have reduced ability to relax sternocleidomastoideus (SCM) muscle. Although there are many studies indicating that the activation of the SCM muscle should be reduced by activating deep cervical flexors when the literature on NP is examined, there are no studies examining the effect of the inhibition of the SCM muscle.

Effects of Global Postural Exercises Versus Specific Therapeutic Neck Exercises in Chronic Non-specific...

Neck PainChronic Pain

This study is a randomized, parallel, blinded, clinical trial of treatments. The general objective of this study is to analyze and compare the short-term results, during a 4-week follow-up, of two different treatments in patients with chronic nonspecific neck pain. The treatments to be applied are Global Postural Reeducation (GPR) and specific therapeutic exercise, applied during 8 treatment sessions in 4 weeks. These treatments will be applied by a physiotherapist with clinical experience in the treatment of cervical pain. During the study, 4 evaluations will be carried out to assess the effects of the interventions on pain, disability, standing postural control and neuromuscular behavior of the cervical muscles ((1) Baseline (pre-intervention); 2) Second pre-intervention (1 week later); 3) 1st post-intervention after four sessions (1+2 weeks later); 4) Final, 2nd post-intervention (1+4 weeks later))
