The Impact of Lenses on Musculoskeletal and Visual Complaints in VDU Workers With Neck Complaints...

Neck Pain

The aim of this study is to investigate the impact of wearing visual display units (VDU) lenses versus progressive lenses on musculoskeletal and visual complaints in VDU workers with work related neck complaints. This will be evaluated by means of questionnaires (Neck Disability Index and Visual Fatigue Questionnaire), muscle tone, elasticity and stiffness, pressure pain threshold and 2D video analysis of head posture during a VDU task.

Balance Performance in Dual Task in Patients With Cervical Disc Herniation Related Chronic Neck...

Cervical PainPostural Balance

Intense pain and moderate disability are seen most patients with symptomatic cervical disc herniation (CDH). Since neck motion and motor control are associated with changes in neck pain and disability, it is highly likely that patients with neck pain related disability would display dual-task interference (DTI) during postural control with a cognitive task. It is very important for patients with cervical disk herniation to perform more than one task at the same time for many activities of daily living. Therefore, the aim of this study was to compare balance performance in dual task between patients with CDH related chronic neck pain and asymptomatic controls.

Effects of Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment on Neuromuscular Control of the Head-neck System

Neck Pain

The overall goal of this project is to develop sensitive and objective clinical research tools for the assessment of head-neck motor control. In order to accomplish this goal, the investigators aim to quantify changes in head-neck motor control before and after osteopathic manipulative treatment. The investigators hypothesize that head-neck motor control will improve in neck pain participants after 4-weeks of treatment. Additionally, the investigators will compare position and force head-neck motor control between healthy controls and neck pain patients. The investigators hypothesize that baseline tests of position and force head-neck motor control will be better in healthy individuals than neck pain patients.

Cervicospinal Posture and Pain in Cervicogenic Headache

Cervicogenic HeadacheNeck Pain

Cervicogenic headache (CEH) is a type of symptomatic headache that is characterized by chronic unilateral headache secondary to cervical spine dysfunction. Generally, it gets worse by neck movements, continuous placement of the head in an awkward position and exposure to external pressure on the upper cervical or occipital region. The pain was demonstrated to originate from lower cervical disc prolapse and spinal nerve roots in some studies, while it is suggested in some others to occur due to the upper cervical region as well. Although disturbed cervical alignment has been determined in tension headache and migraine, there are few studies with controversial results in the literature investigating the effects of the change in cervical lordosis on CEH. These contradictory results strongly influence the decision of whether exercise should be added to the treatment protocol in CEH and also the creation of an appropriate treatment program by the clinicians. In light of this background, the aim of this study was to compare the cervical radiographs of patients with CEH and patients with neck pain without a headache.

Long Term Follow-Up of Post Neck Pain Patients Accompanying Ossification of Posterior Longitudinal...

OPLLMedicine1 more

The purpose of this study is to reveal the effectiveness and safety of integrative Korean medicine for Ossification of Posterior Longitudinal Ligament(OPLL) by observation inpatients treated with integrative Korean medicine. This study is a prospective observational study. The subjects for study are patients diagnosed with OPLL and who have been admitted to four Jaseng Hospital of Korean medicine (Gangnam, Bucheon, Daejeon, and Haeundae) for 2016.04.01-2019.12.31. Medical records of selected patients will be analyzed, and telephone surveys will be conducted for each patient. The survey questions are Numeric ratinc scale (NRS), Vernon-Mior Neck Disability Index (NDI), quality of life, and Patient Global Impression of Change (PGIC), etc.
