Surgical Staging in Cervical Cancer Prior to Chemoradiation
Cervical CancerThe aim of this study is to determine whether the modified therapy on the basis of operative staging and systematic, pelvine and paraaortal lymphadenectomy for patients with cervical cancer of the FIGO stages IIB-IV prior to introducing radio-chemotherapy leads to a significant improvement of disease-free survival.
Concurrent Chemoradiotherapy for Cervical Cancer in Elderly Women
Cervical CancerThe purpose of this study is to evaluate the efficiency and safety of weekly Cisplatin /Liposome paclitaxel concurrent chemoradiothrapy in the treatment of locally advanced cervical cancer in elderly women.
Paclitaxel and Carboplatin Followed by Cisplatin and Radiation Therapy in Treating Patients With...
Cervical CancerRATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as paclitaxel, carboplatin, and cisplatin, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing. Radiation therapy uses high-energy x-rays to kill tumor cells. Giving combination chemotherapy together with radiation therapy may kill more tumor cells. PURPOSE: This phase II trial is studying how well giving paclitaxel together with carboplatin followed by cisplatin and radiation therapy works in treating patients with stage IB, stage II, stage III, or stage IVA cervical cancer.
Study of Tumour Response to Tirapazamine During Treatment of Cervical Cancer
Cervix CancerThe purpose of this study is as follows: to determine whether tirapazamine damages cervical tumour DNA immediately after its administration to determine the blood flow and oxygen level of cervical tumour before and after treatment with tirapazamine
Survivin Peptide Vaccination for Patients With Advanced Melanoma, Pancreatic, Colon and Cervical...
Malignant MelanomaPancreatic Cancer2 moreThis study evaluates the safety, the immunological response and the clinical outcome of a vaccination with survivin peptides for patients with advanced melanoma, pancreatic, colon and cervical carcinoma.
Research in Ethno-Medicine and Education (REMED)
Cervical CancerHuman Papilloma Virus2 moreThe purpose of this study is to gain information about intravaginal practices, like intravaginal "twalet deba", among Haitian women living in South Florida. Intravaginal "twalet deba" may include douching, cleaning inside the vagina with different kinds of products, or using steam/vapor that enter the vagina. The investigators want to help learn the best way to increase early detection and/or prevention for cervical cancer. The investigators would like to know what plants, herbs, commercial products and medicines are used in these practices, how these products are prepared, applied, why these products are used, and how these products affect the vagina and cervix.
A Non-inferiority Evaluation of a Smart-phone Based Cervical Imaging Device.
Cervical CancerWhen a woman has an abnormal pap smear or tests positive for a high risk strain of the HPV virus, the current standard of care includes culposcopic examination of the cervix with biopsy. A culposcope is essentially a microscope for examining the cervix. Culposcopes cost $5-10,000 each. The device being tested in this trial is an adaptor for a smart phone that will cost ~ $125. The larger goal of this line of studies see if the images obtained using the smart phone adaptor are non-inferior to those obtained with standard culposcopes. If the device is found to provide images equal to those of standard culposscopes, it could save thousands of dollars in healthcare expenditure currently that go to the purchase and maintenance of culposcopes. This has potential world-wide applications, especially for resource poor countries. This initial trial is a non-inferiority trial to compare the images obtained with the smart phone based device of those obtained by a standard culposcope
CASUS: Improved and Quality Assured Collection of First-void Urine
Cervical CancerCervical Intraepithelial Neoplasia3 moreThe goal of the overall CASUS project is to develop the first fully molecular integrated cervical cancer screening approach, based on first-void urine as an easily accessible and non-invasive source of biomarkers. In contrast to current screening modalities, the CASUS approach will identify women with clinically relevant disease in need of treatment using only a single sample that can be collected at home (one-step triage).
Fluorescence for Sentinel Lymph Node Identification in Cancer Surgery
Breast CarcinomaHead and Neck Cancer9 moreThis is a single-center prospective clinical trial to evaluate non-inferiority of indocyanine green guided sentinel lymph node biopsy compared with the gold standard Technecium99 guided sentinel lymph node biopsy in patients with cancers and subjected to surgery. The diagnostic performance and the tolerance of indocyanine green (ICG) to the radio-isotope (Techniciun99) in the detection of sentinel lymph nodes will be assess using an "Optonuclear" probe (EURORAD S.A.) and QUEST camera
Nerve Sparing Radical Hysterectomy VS Radical Hysterectomy: Safety and Clinical Efficacy
Cervical CancerCervical cancer in young patients increased significantly in recent years, and early surgical treatment for patients with 5 years of survival rate is as high as 90%, But the traditional extensive hysterectomy (RH) caused by intraoperative pelvic autonomic nerve may damage the bladder and rectum and the incidence of complications such as sexual dysfunction is nearly 25% to 80%, thus seriously affect the patient's quality of life.Pelvic autonomic nerve preservation system of extensive hysterectomy (NSRH) can decrease the complications of above, but at home and abroad mainly adopts pulling the urine tube time, determination methods of residual urine volume, bladder function are studied in only a few scholars urine flow mechanics method is applied to carry on objective appraisal limited cases of postoperative bladder function, and the anorectal function damage ,we can use the anorectal dynamics to get objective index of anorectal function .overall research lack of large sample research of dynamic system. No objective index to evaluate the anorectal function In the early stage of the study, we have conducted about uterine ligament, sacral ligaments and nerve distribution of the bladder cervix vaginal ligament of experimental research, provide the neural anatomy basis for NSRH operation, and based on research for innovative operation scheme is put forward.Proposed on the basis of the above research, this study adopt the internationally used - urine flow mechanics, the method for evaluating the bladder function of NSRH, RH, two kinds of the injured function of bladder surgery patients before and after operation of comparative study, the change of dynamic assessment before and after surgery in patients with bladder function, and the anorectal function dameage and than provide the basis for further treatment.
