Subgroups of Older Adults With Back Pain and Multiple Chronic Conditions
Low Back PainDepression2 moreThe overall goal of this study is to use the National Health and Aging Trends Study (NHATS) data to gain an understanding of how multiple chronic conditions impact the health outcomes of older adults with back pain.
Risk of Chronic Diseases in Young Adults Born Preterm: Relationship With Inflammation and Oxidative...
Prematurity; ExtremeThe purpose of the HAPI project is to study the overall health of preterm infants once they reach adulthood. The investigators would like to compare the health of adults born preterm with that of adults born full-term. They would also like to find the early signs, or biomarkers, of chronic diseases such as high blood pressure, diabetes, osteoporosis, and chronic lung diseases. Such biomarkers would allow for early diagnosis and prevention. Furthermore, the investigators would like to understand why some people born preterm are more likely to develop chronic disease. They believe that inflammation and oxidative stress may play a part. Oxidative stress is present when the body is not able to defend itself against oxygen-derived products that can damage our cells. To carry out this study, the investigators will examine 6 aspects of the health: (1) heart and circulation, (2) kidneys, (3) lungs, (4) metabolism - sugars and fats in the blood, (5) bones, and (6) eyes.
Tailoring Mindfulness Interventions for Families Managing Chronic Health Conditions
MindfulnessChronic DiseaseThis is not an intervention or treatment study. It is an observational qualitative data study about tailoring a mindfulness intervention to assist families managing chronic health conditions.
Long Term Outcome in ICU Treated COVID-19: New Chronic Diseases
Covid19Additional chronic diseases one year after intensive care unit (ICU) admission with Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) will be assessed in comparison to two control cohorts. The ICU population comprises all Swedish ICU patients with COVID-19 with at least one year of follow up. The hospital admitted cohort comprises four hospital admitted patients with COVID-19 per ICU patient, matched on age, legal gender and region. The general population controls are matched to the ICU patients in a one to four fashion on age, legal gender and region. ICU patients are identified in the Swedish intensive care registry. The hospital admitted patients are identified in the national patient registry and the population controls are identified in the population registry. Data on comorbidity, medications and death are provided from the National board of health and welfare.
Anxiety and Depression Perceived by Individuals With and Without Cancer During the COVID-19 Pandemic...
AnxietyDepression3 moreThe COVID-19 pandemic has negatively affected individuals not only physiologically but also psychologically. The aim of this study is to examine the anxiety and depression status of cancer patients, individuals with non-cancer chronic diseases and healthy individuals with an online screening questionnaire during the COVID-19 pandemic period.
Biorepository of Biospecimen Samples in Matched Healthy Control Participants and Participants Diagnosed...
Diabetic Kidney DiseaseDiabetes Type 22 moreThe Investigators will generate a repository of human biosamples across therapeutic areas that will be used to identify disease-associated biomarkers and potential targets with immune and multi-omics profiling. This sample collection and analysis from people living with type 2 diabetes, or chronic or diabetic kidney disease will lay the groundwork for an extensive network of biosample access and linked datasets that will provide an invaluable resource for translational research.
Development of the General Scale Observance for Chronic Diseases
Chronic DiseasesThe main objective is to assess the measurement characteristics (validity, reproducibility) and the invariance of EGOMAC scale in a population of consultants in diabetology, cardiology and rheumatology hospital and liberal and hospital oncology and Infectious disease, by following the evolution of patient compliance at D0 and D15. The second objective is to assess the sensitivity to change of scale EGOMAC following developments compliance 3 months.
BioGene Bank Cohort Study for Approved Research Requests
HealthyChronic DiseaseThe BioGene bank: Is a centralized collection of human blood samples along with de-identified (coded) health information, environmental factors, family disease histories and information from DNA. Limited to the NSLIJHS catchment area.
Rhinosinusites Chroniques
SinusitisChronic Disease1 moreTo analyse and describe sinus microbiota, during hard to treat (or refractory) rhinosinusitis, using culturomic and metagenomic methods (i.e. to culture on many different medium of culture to grow hard to cultivate bacteria + to sequence and analyse all DNA contained in samples). Samples are middle meatus swabs or pus aspiration, done during usually patient following.
The Quality of Life and Direct Financial Costs Associated With Home Ventilation of Children: A Prospective...
Children Receiving Ventilation at Home for Chronic Illness or DiseaseThe investigators wish to learn about the quality of life (QOL) of children needing long term home ventilation and also that of their regular caregivers. In addition, the investigators will monitor the extra health-related expenses these families must meet. Data will be collected using two age-specific questionnaires of QOL plus a third one validated for assessing chronic health care costs. Questionnaires will be administered at an initial face to face meeting, supplemented by two telephone follow-up calls, to monitor medical expenses, one and two months later.
