Pilot of Mindfulness Oriented Recovery Enhancement in MethadoneTreatment

Opioid UseChronic Pain

This pilot study aims to evaluate the impact of a novel intervention, Mindfulness Oriented Recovery Enhancement (MORE), on opioid use and chronic pain among individuals receiving methadone maintenance treatment (MMT). The main goal of this pilot study is to test the feasibility of our study methods before conducting a clinical trial to assess MORE with respect to a range of clinical outcomes. This study will involve a 2-arm individually randomized controlled trial design that compares MORE and treatment as usual (TAU).

Position Sense, Force Control and Pain Intensity in Basal Thumb Osteoarthritis

Thumb OsteoarthritisProprioceptive Disorders2 more

In practice, a single test is used to quantify thumb proprioception. Previous studies have found a decrease in joint position sense (JPS) and force sense (FS) in patients diagnosis of thumb carpometacarpal osteoarthritis, but no correlation have been stabilize between JPS, FS and pain intensity perceived by the patient during activity daily life (ADL). The goal of the study is compared joint position error (JPE) with joint force sense error (JFSE) in subjects with carpometacarpal (CMC) joint osteoarthritis and investigated a possible correlation between thumb pain intensity and thumb proprioception in patients with CMC joint OA.

Reliability and Validity of the OneStep Smartphone Application for Gait Analysis

Chronic Pain of Left Foot (Finding)Chronic Pain of Right Foot (Finding)

Expanding the availability of quantitative tools for gait quality assessment is essential to enable clinicians to analyze patient's gait, monitor gait changes, and modify the rehabilitation process, when gold-standard tools are not available. The OneStep technology is a smartphone application (app), that uses smartphone sensors to provide ongoing gait diagnostics. This study aims to further evaluate the analytical capability of the OneStep algorithm in recording and analyzing gait parameters and test its reliability and validity. The study will take place at Reuth Rehabilitation Hospital. All participants will be using the App and the C-Mill treadmill (Motek, Amsterdam, Netherlands) built-in gait analysis system, during two separate treadmill walks of up to 15 minutes. All walking sessions will be recorded with two cameras. Data obtained from participants will be collected and analyzed for gait parameters. The study sample will include 30 healthy volunteers and 70 patients.
