One MORE for Chronic Pain

Chronic Pain

This study will be a single-site, two-arm randomized controlled trial conducted among chronic pain patients. MS Symptom Management Study

Multiple SclerosisChronic Pain1 more

People with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) often have pain and/or fatigue. Unfortunately, available treatments provide inadequate relief for the majority of these individuals. There remains an urgent need for additional treatment options for MS-related symptoms. The purpose of this study is to see if alternative treatments that involve self-hypnosis training, neurofeedback training and/or mindfulness meditation training, or a combination of some of these treatments can help decrease pain and fatigue in people with MS. A subject must have a diagnosis of MS, have chronic pain and/or fatigue, and be at least 18 years old to participate, among other criteria.

Observed Actions in Chronic Neck Pain

Chronic Pain

The aim of the present protocol is to prove if the observed actions (AOb) will improve the cervical range of motion (CROM) in patients with non-specific chronic neck pain (CNP). This study is a parallel-group double blind randomized clinical. Outcome measures were CROM, and pressure pain detection thresholds (PPDT) with a digital algometer. The follow-up will consist of three evaluations: pre- treatment, post-treatment and 10 minutes after second measurement (motor imagery).

4-week Mindfulness Program for Adults With Chronic Pain

Chronic Pain

The objective of this study is to determine the feasibility and acceptability of a 4-week mindfulness training program for adults with chronic pain (noncancer related). The intervention is based on the MIndfulness-based Stress Reduction Program, an 8-week mindfulness training program developed to help people manage stress-related and chronic conditions. The adapted mindfulness intervention will consist of four, weekly 1 hour and 30 minute group sessions that are modified from the original program to fit the shorter length and to directly address chronic pain management. Participants will complete pre- and post-intervention surveys and daily mindfulness practice diaries, all online. The surveys will help us determine if participants experience decreased pain interference, increased quality-of-life, and increased psychological well-being over the course of the intervention. Participants will also complete a post-intervention telephone interview to help determine satisfaction with the intervention and areas where the intervention can be improved.

Behavioral Consultation for HIV+ Older Adults Prescribed Opioids for Chronic Pain

Opioid MisuseOlder Adults1 more

This project will develop a novel collaborative treatment, based on the primary care behavioral consultation model and behavior therapy techniques including motivational interviewing and functional assessment, in which a patient, a Behavioral Health Consultant (BHC) and a HIV primary care provider share a unified plan targeting misuse of prescribed opioid analgesics in older HIV+ adults. The intervention will involve meetings between the BHC and the PCP, the BHC and the participant, and the BHC, PCP and the participant. Opioid misuse will be the primary outcome variable. Quality of the patient-provider relationship, pain, problematic use of other substances, antiretroviral adherence, and psychosocial functioning will be secondary outcomes.

Improving Functioning in Persons With Chronic Pain Post-SCI Through Virtual Classroom Education...

Chronic PainSpinal Cord Injuries

Onstep Versus Lichtenstein, the Onli Trial.

HerniaInguinal1 more

The objective of this study is to evaluate chronic pain and sexual dysfunction after inguinal hernia repair involving mesh fixation with sutures (Lichtenstein) compared with no mesh fixation (Onstep). The study hypothesis is that a smaller proportions of patients operated without mesh fixation (Onstep) will have chronic pain that impairs daily function.

Cebranopadol Efficacy and Safety in Diabetic Patients Suffering From Chronic Pain Caused by Damage...

Chronic PainDiabetic Neuropathies1 more

The purpose of this trial is to evaluate if cebranopadol is safe and can decrease pain in patients when compared to placebo (a tablet that does not contain active product) and when compared to a marketed product containing pregabalin (Lyrica®). Furthermore, this trial will be undertaken to find out if the patient's general health and well-being improves under trial treatment. The concentrations of cebranopadol in the blood will be investigated to get a better understanding of how it is absorbed from the gut, distributed and broken down in the body, and eliminated from the body.
