Chronic PainPhysical Disability

Thirty individuals with chronic neck pain randomised into two groups. Group I (15 subjects) received a total of 10 sessions as 5 sessions a week.Hot pack to cervical and upper thoracic regions (20 minutes), conventional Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS) (100 Hz for 40 μsec), therapeutic ultrasound (1 Megahertz (MHz) for 5 minutes) and conventional massage were applied. Five sessions of Matrix Rhythm Therapy (2., 5., 6., 8., 10. sessions of combined physiotherapy programme) was added at combined physiotherapy Group II. Matrix Rhythm Therapy was applied to cervical and thoracic regions using 10 Hz frequency for 30 minutes. Pain intensity was measured using by a Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) measuring 10 cm. Muscle spasm in cervical region was assessed by using a VAS measuring 10 cm. Turkish version of Neck Disability Index (NDI) was used to assess the disability caused by neck pain. Validity, Reliability and Responsiveness of Pain Sensitization Questionnaire

Pain SyndromePain2 more

The aim of this study was to translate the Pain Sensitivity Questionnaire, which was developed to determine the level of pain sensitivity of individuals, to Turkish and to evaluate the validity and reliability of the Turkish version of the scale on knee osteoarthritis patients, and as well as to perform cultural adaptation. Pain sensitivity assessment is used to predict treatment or surgical outcomes of individuals. IPain Sensitivity Questionnaire is a frequently used scale that correlates with experimental pain tests and is used in studies conducted in different patient groups. We believe that adding this scale to our language will contribute to other studies in this field.

Substance Abuse Treatment for High Risk Chronic Pain Patients on Opioid Therapy

Substance Abuse

Chronic back pain patients are often dismissed from a pain center or a primary care practice when they are noncompliant with opioid therapy, instead of being offered treatments to reduce misuse and to improve compliance. Unfortunately, there are few treatment resources for such patients. This study seeks to remedy that problem, with the goal of reducing the rate of prescription opioid misuse among noncompliant patients through the use of novel tracking, education, and counseling interventions.
