Saliva Levels of S100A12, CRP, Fetuin-A in Periodontal Disease Patients

Periodontal Inflammation

Hs-CRP, Fetuin-A and S100A12 are acute phase proteins associated with many systemic diseases and conditions. The aim of this study was to determine the clinical parameters and salivary Hs-CRP, Fetuin-A and S100A12 levels before and after non-surgical periodontal treatments in the patients with periodontal diseases. A total of 54 subjects were divided in to three groups; periodontally healthy (n: 18), gingivitis (n: 18), chronic periodontitis (n: 18). Clinical periodontal parameters, salivary Hs-CRP, Fetuin-A and S100A12 levels and salivary flow rates were evaluated at baseline and a month after the treatments. Salivary Hs-CRP, Fetuin-A and S100A12 levels were assayed by ELISA.

Quantification of Proteomes: L-plastin , Lipocalin and Adiponectin in Chronic Periodontitis and...

Periodontal Diseases

The quantification of the proteomes : L-plastin, lipocalin and adiponectin was analysed in the subgingival tissue samples of generalized severe chronic periodontitis patients with and without diabetes mellitus. The demographic and the periodontal parameters were assessed and the correlated with the quantification of the proteins. The mRNA expression was analyzed with RT-PCR and the quantification of protein was done using ELISA.

Microbial Profiling in Pockets Related to Chronic Periodontitis Patients Using 16s RNA Metagenomics...

Periodontal Diseases

The study was developed in compliance with the Helsinki Declaration on medical research involving the Ethics Committee at Ajman University (2017-A-DN-04). Informed consent from all the participants was obtained before participation in the study. The participants were systemically healthy with no history of antibiotics for the past three months. Patients recruited for the study were diagnosed as Stage II Generalized periodontitis according to the classification from the 2017 world workshop on the "classification of periodontal and peri-implant disease and conditions". Periodontal status indicating the severity of interdental clinical attachment loss of 3-4mm, radiographic bone loss between 15%-33% and with no tooth loss were included. The complexity of periodontitis with a maximum probing depth of ≤ 5mm with horizontal bone loss and having an extent and distribution with >30% teeth involved were included in the study. A total of 80 plaque samples were collected with the clinical characteristics of the patient comprising of age between 25-39 years, 36 females and 44 males. The subgingival plaque was collected using a sterile curette from the buccal aspect of maxillary molars and lingual aspect of mandibular incisors, in a vial containing 200µl of Buffer CL.

Association of Periodontitis With Oral Health Related Quality of Life

PeriodontitisAdult

Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate the impact of periodontitis on oral health-related quality of life (OHQoL) and the factors may associated with OHQoL. Methods: 50 untreated periodontitis patients and 50 individuals without periodontitis were enrolled in the study. All subjects underwent detailed periodontal examination and probing depth (PD), clinical attachment level (CAL) measurements were performed. OHRQoL was assessed through the Oral Health Quality of Life-United Kingdom (OHRQoL-UK) scale. Symptoms of periodontitis was determined by Visual Analogue Scale (VAS). Socio-demographic characteristics, medical history, smoking status, hygiene habits of the all individuals were recorded.

Tissue Plasminogen Activator & Plasminogen Activator Inhibitor Type-1 In Gingival Tissues Of Chronic...

Chronic Periodontitis

Tissue Plasminogen Activator and Plasminogen Activator Inhibitor Type-1 Gene Expression will be evaluated clinically and histopathologically through Hematoxylin and eosin as well as by quantitative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction in the gingival tissues of chronic periodontitis in an attempt to investigate whether the expression of these proteins could be involved in the disease pathogenesis or not, and to assess as well if their expression will be affected by the applied surgical periodontal treatment.

Relationship Between Chronic Periodontitis and Vitamin D and Calcium in Men

Chronic Periodontitis

Objective: The objective was to evaluate whether serum vitamin D and calcium concentrations are associated with chronic periodontitis in Syrian men Methods: This study designed as "Matched Case-Control Study".200 males will be enrolled in this study and will be divided into two groups. First group consist of 100 patients suffering from chronic periodontitis and no systemic diseases. Second group consist of 100 healthy volunteers. Serum vitamin D and calcium concentrations will be tested. Periodontal indexes include probing depth (PD), clinical attachment level (CAL), and bleeding on probing (BOP) will be taken. Data will be collected and analyzed.

Gingival Crevicular Fluid and Placental Tissue Levels of Interleukin-17 as a Possible Marker for...

Chronic PeriodontitisPreterm Labor

This case control-study measures the levels of Interleukin-17 in gingival crevicular fluid and placental tissue samples of pregnant females as a possible marker in determining whether or not an association exists between chronic periodontitis and preterm labor. Interleukin-17 is a pro-inflammatory cytokine whose levels have been proven to increase in periodontal disease.

Interplay of miRNA-146a and miRNA-126 in Chronic Periodontitis Patients With Coronary Artery Disease...

Chronic PeriodontitisCoronary Artery Disease1 more

The role of micro-RNAs in chronic periodontitis associated with CAD is still in an incipient stage needs to be explored further. The investigators attempt to quantify and compare the levels of micro-RNA 146a and micro-RNA 126 in subgingival as well as coronary plaque samples obtained from patients diagnosed with chronic periodontitis with and without coronary artery disease.

microRNA 155 Levels and Periodontal Microflora (Bacteria and Virus) in Preeclampsia.

PreeclampsiaChronic Periodontitis

Preeclamptic women with and without chronic periodontitis were recruited for the study. Subgingival plaque samples and placental tissue samples(postpartum) were obtained from the participants for the microbial analysis(bacteria, viruses) and MIR155 levels and comparison was done among groups. this study was designed in order to evaluate the role of periodontal microorganisms in preeclampsia and to find compare the MIR155 levels among participants, so as to check its importance as a biomarker for inflammatory disease like preeclampsia.

Post-extractive Alveolus Regeneration

Chronic Periodontitis ApicalEmbedded Tooth

Healing of post-extraction alveolus is a complex process that involves soft and hard tissues regeneration. Pain, swelling, difficulty of opening the mouth, delayed healing of bone tissue, alveolitis and horizontal or vertical resorption of bone tissue are the main problems that have impact on consequent treatment. Blood concentrates PRGF (plasma rich in growth factors) and PRF (platelet-rich fibrin), which are rich in growth factors, create better conditions for post-extraction alveolus healing and enhance quality of soft tissues and bone regeneration. Our study objective was to compare physiological healing of post-extraction zone, PRF and PRGF induced changes of healing process. Methods that we used: 43 patients were randomly divided into 3 groups: I control group - lower molar extraction and filling of post-extraction alveolus with hemostatic sponge containing gentamicin, II group - post-extraction alveolus is filled PRGF and III group - post-extraction alveolus is filled with PRF. Bone regeneration was evaluated in CBCT scans after 1 month. Pain was evaluated using visual analogical scale (VAS).
