Effect of Pupilometer Guided Analgesia on Postoperative Pain

CholecystectomyLaparoscopic4 more

In this study, the investigators measure a pupil size every 5 minutes during the operation in patients undergoing laparoscopic cholecystectomy under general anesthesia. The investigators would compare the postoperative pain intensity between the group adjusted the anesthetic drug concentration based on the changes of the pupil (Pupil group) and the group based on the changes of a surgical pleth index (SPI group).

Dexmedetomidine Versus Clonidine for Transversus Abdominis Plane Block in Patients Undergoing Elective...

Postoperative Pain

Aim to study the efficacy of co-administered Dexmedetomidine Or Clonidine with Bupivacaine and that of bupivacaine 0.25% alone for Transversus Abdominis Plane (TAP) Block for Postoperative Analgesia in Patients Undergoing Elective Caesarean Section. Group 1: bupivacaine 0.25% + Dexmedetomidine 0.5 mcg/kg (a total volume of 40 ml (20 ml each side) was used for the TAP block.) Group 2: 20 ml bupivacaine+1ug/kg clonidine bilaterally (a total volume of 40 ml (20 ml each side) was used for the TAP Group3: bupivacaine 0.25% + placebo (a total volume of 40 ml (20 ml each side) was used for the TAP A prospective Randomized Interventional double-blind study.

Erector Spinae Plane Block Versus Quadratus Lumborum Block for Postoperative Analgesia in Children...

Postoperative Pain

Postoperative pain management in children is still standing as a problem to solve. Effect of quadratus lumborum block has been shown to be a promising technique to overcome postoperative pain in children undergoing low abdominal surgeries. Erector spinae plane block is a new defined relatively safer and easier regional anesthesia technique which could be used for this purpose. Primary aim of this double blinded randomized controlled trial is to compare the analgesic efficacy of this two block techniques in this group of pediatric patients.

Postoperative Pain Intensity Associated With the Use of Different Nickel Titanium Instrumentation...

PainPostoperative1 more

In this study the effect of different engine-driven nickel titanium (Ni-Ti) instrumentation systems (OneShape, Revo S and WaveOne) on postoperative dental pain in patients with asymptomatic teeth after a single-appointment root canal retreatment was evaluated.

Evaluation of the Effects of Platelet Rich Fibrin on the Palatal Mucosal Healing

Wound HealingPain2 more

Subepithelial connective tissue graft (SCTG) has greater predictability for root coverage and causes minimal discomfort to patient. Although donor site heals with primary intention causing less scar tissue, in some different harvesting procedures primary flap closure may not be achieved due to nature of thick palatal tissues. Some potential complications may occur at donor site such as: necrosis of graft and palatal site, pain, excessive hemorrhage, protracted discomfort, donor site infection and in some cases donor site paresthesia. Platelet rich fibrin (PRF) is a platelet concentrate obtained by a simple procedure that does not require biochemical blood involvement.Based on the known biological effects of PRF, the aim of this study is to evaluate the PRF in the management of soft tissue donor sites in term of bleeding and pain sensation, and to observe the changes in tissue healing after a subepithelial connective tissue graft procedure at palatal donor site.

Pre-Operative Pregabalin for Post-Operative Pain in Head and Neck Cancer Surgery

Head and Neck CancerPain1 more

The purpose of this study is to evaluate and reduce pain and improve quality of life in patients being treated for head and neck cancer with primary tumor resection and bilateral neck dissections. Patients will be randomly assigned to receive either pre-operative pregabalin (Lyrica) or a placebo. Patients and investigators will be blinded to which medication patients receive, and all patients will receive the same postoperative pain medication regimen with appropriate pain treatment as needed. Patients will be asked to fill out surveys prior to surgery, while in the hospital after surgery, and at each follow-up appointment for up to 24 months.
