This study is designed to evaluate the use of bupivacaine liposome 1.3% compared bupivacaine 0.5% in pain control in post-operative laparoscopic bariatric surgery patient The purpose of this study is to evaluate two local anesthetics and determine if there is an advantage of administering one medication compared over the other. The intent is show that one local anesthetic.allows for improved pain control as per the pain scale ratings of the test subjects.

During Total hip replacement arthroplasty (THA), the hip joint first must be luxated in order to have access to the joints. A lot of force and torque must be carried out on the joint to perform this manipulation. This is both difficult for the surgeon and may cause additional tissue damage and postoperative pain. After placement of the prosthesis and reduction of the joint, the tension of the hip joint must be evaluated by the surgeon to ascertain the adequacy of the prosthesis. During luxation, minimal muscle tension would be ideal, while after reduction of the joint, normal muscle tension is desired to permit assessment of the mechanics of the hip joint. The aim of the study is to investigate whether deep neuromuscular block, combined with a reversal before mechanics assessment improves surgical conditions, surgical time, and postoperative patient comfort.

Post Operative Pain

This study is investigating whether administration of acetaminophen the day before surgery improves post operative pain following minimally invasive hysterectomy. Patients will receive either acetaminophen or placebo to take twice per day the day prior to their scheduled surgery. The morning of surgery all participants will receive oral acetaminophen at least 30 minutes prior to surgery. The investigators will examine whether there is a difference in post operative pain between the two groups.

Longitudinal Study of Chronic Postsurgical Pain in Children and Adolescents

Chronic Post Operative Pain

Chronic postsurgical pain is defined as pain that develops or intensifies following a surgical procedure. After major surgery, around 20% of children and adolescents develop chronic postsurgical pain, and, as part of it, negative consequences on their quality of life. Emotion-related factors such as the variability of emotions, how emotions are regulated, and how well someone is able to differentiate between different emotions have in part been studied in other types of chronic pain. To date, no study examined emotion-related factors in the development and maintenance of chronic postsurgical pain. This observational study includes five assessment time points, one before and four after major surgery, with the goal to identify emotion-related factors that increase or decrease the risk for the development of chronic postsurgical pain.

Over the last 20 years, different interventional regional analgesia techniques have been proposed to treat pain after hip surgeries. The most commonly used techniques are the fascia iliaca and femoral nerve blocks, resulting in reduced pain scores, opioid-sparing effects, and opioid-related adverse effects. However, these interventional analgesia techniques result in a motor block and muscle weakness of the quadriceps muscle, impeding early ambulation and rehabilitation. Recently, the pericapsular nerve group (PENG) block has been proposed as an effective choice for analgesia after hip surgeries while sparing the motor function of the lower extremities. The aim of this technique is to inject local anesthetic to target the more distal sensory branches innervating the anterior aspect of the hip joint.

External Oblique Intercostal Plane Block for Laparoscopic Sleeve Gastrectomy

The external oblique intercostal (EOI) plane block is a novel approach upper abdominal wall analgesia. The EOI plane block can provide dermatomal sensory blockade of T6-T10 at the anterior axillary line and T6-T9 at the midline. It may be used for postoperative analgesia in obese patients because it is superficial and rapidly identifiable and performed in the supine position. the aim of this study is to investigate the postoperative analgesic efficacy of external oblique intercostal plane block in obese patients undergoing laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy. Researchers will compare the external oblique intercostal plane block group with control group to see if the EOI plane block is effective for postoperative analgesia in patients undergoing sleeve gastrectomy.

Effect of Cryotherapy and LLLT on Postoperative Pain After Root Canal Treatment

The aim of this study is to evaluate the effect of low-level laser therapy (LLLT) and intracanal cryotherapy applications on postoperative pain in endodontic interventions of primary molar teeth with apical periodontitis. 75 patients were randomly assigned to the control, low-level laser and cryotherapy groups.Root canal treatments were performed in a single session. The pain intensity felt by the patients on the preoperative and postoperative 1st, 3rd, 5th and 7th days were recorded using the Wong Baker visual pain scale. Preoperative and postoperative 7th day percussion sensitivity was recorded using the VAS (visual analog scale) scale. The pain scores of the groups at different times after the procedure were compared. Statistical analysis of the data was performed at the 0.05 significance level.
