Postoperative Pain After Volar Plating for Distal Radius Fractures

Distal Radius Fractures

The investigators undertook to evaluate early postoperative pain levels after the volar plating of distal radius fractures performed under regional anesthesia, and to determine whether periarticular multimodal drug injections into the joint, ligament, periosteum, subcutaneous tissue, and skin, and into interosseous and superficial radial nerves (as an additional sensory nerve block) provide additional pain management benefits.

Postoperative PainThyroidectomy1 more

The purpose of this study is to determine whether celecoxib is effective in the treatment postoperative pain after thyroidectomy. The research hypothesis: There is a difference in postoperative morphine consumption in the first 24 hours after thyroidectomy between patients who received celecoxib or placebo.

Comparison of Pain Therapeutic Effects After Benign Mastectomy

PainPostoperative1 more

With the incremental trend of benign breast tumor, the surgical process of mastectomy was proceeded too much every day, especially in the Maternal Health Care Hospital, but whether the investigators can find another way to relieve the postoperative pain after such an operation is still unknown. The investigators hypothesized that the pain from the relatively small surgery may not be significant compared to different treatments, even if no drug was delivered to them. The investigators are enrolling patients who underwent mastectomy from benign breast tumor, and are observing the analgesic effects of different drugs.

How Does Gabapentin Affects Post-operative Tonsillectomy Pain?

Post-operative Pain

Gabapentin is a medicine that has been used in adults (but not yet in children) to treat pain after surgery. In children it has been used for many years to treat other conditions and has been shown to be very safe. Removal of tonsils is a common operation with each child experiencing a similar pattern of pain; this makes it good for looking at the effect of pain relieving medicines. In our study each child will get the same operation and medicines, as they would have normally. Before the operation and in a random way, half will get gabapentin and half will get the same syrup but with no gabapentin. Afterwards we will record how much pain the children have and how much of our standard medicine is needed to make them comfortable. We expect both of these results to be lower in the half who received gabapentin. We will also record the amount and type of unwanted effects, both from the gabapentin and from any other pain relief medicines.

Continuous Lumbar Plexus Block for Postoperative Pain Control After Total Hip Arthroplasty

Postoperative Pain

Continuous lumbar plexus and femoral blocks have been demonstrated to provide effective postoperative analgesia of the lower extremity following total joint arthroplasty. The purpose of this study was to compare these two techniques when used with intravenous patient-controlled analgesia and the use of patient-controlled analgesia alone for postoperative pain management following unilateral total hip arthroplasty.

Pregabalin for Postoperative Pain in Women Undergoing Breast Cancer Surgery

Postoperative Pain

We hypothesize that pregabalin will decrease postoperative pain, as measured by the surrogate markers postoperative pain rating scores and postoperative opioid consumption while improving the quality of recovery following breast cancer surgery compared to placebo. The primary outcome will be postoperative pain, measured by a NRS and the quality of recovery score (QoR) in the first 24h postoperative period. Do women undergoing breast cancer surgery with general anesthesia and receiving pregabalin prior to their surgery and 12 hours later have lower NRS and a greater QoR score in the first 24 hours after their surgery than those women who received placebo?
