Management Of Pain After Cesarean Trial

PainPostoperative1 more

This is a double blinded randomized controlled trial to test the efficacy of a combination of acetaminophen and ibuprofen administered to patients on schedule compared to ibuprofen alone on the patient's reported pain score on the second post-operative day after Cesarean delivery. The investigators will also record opiate consumption and pain scores throughout the hospitalization of participants, and will survey patients at one and two weeks after surgery regarding opiate consumption and quality of life.

The Effect of Virtual Reality on Post-surgical Pain and Recovery.

PainPost-surgical Pain1 more

This study evaluates the effect of Virtual Reality (VR) on pain and recovery in 100 post-operative patients. 60 patients will be included in the intervention group; they will use VR minimal 3 times a day on day 2-4 after surgery, on the surgical ward, as an add-on intervention next to standard care. 40 patients in the control group will only receive standard postoperative care.

Spinal Morphine for Postoperative Analgesia in Urology

PainPostoperative

The study was performed in urology patients elicited for open prostatectomy or open nephrectomy. Comparison of analgesic effect between group (M) with spinal morphine before general anaesthesia and group without this intervention was measured.

Efficiency of Erector Spinae Plane Block For Patients Undergoing Percutaneous Nephrolithotomy

NephrolithotomyPercutaneous7 more

Investigators' goal is to determine whether Erector Spinae Plane Block would provide a better analgesia, help mobilization and early discharge or increase satisfaction for patients undergoing Percutaneous Nephrolithotomy(PNL). One of the two groups will receive ESP catheterization after general anesthesia conducted. The other group will receive routine analgesia protocol used for PNL. The total amount of drugs administered, pain scores(NRS) at certain time intervals and at certain events(removal of nephrostomy and pain at mobilization) will be recorded and compared.

Deep Serratus Anterior Plane Block vs Surgically-placed Paravertebral Block for VATS Surgery

Thoracic DiseasesThoracic Surgery7 more

Thoracic surgery, and surgery involving the chest wall in general, is associated with poorly controlled acute pain, which may result in delayed functional recovery, and may progress to chronic pain. Multimodal opioid-sparing analgesia regimens are a key component of the thoracic surgery enhanced recovery pathway, the aim of which is to improve outcomes in patients undergoing both minimally invasive and open thoracic surgical procedures. Novel interfascial plane blocks are emerging as feasible alternatives to central neuraxial analgesia techniques in a variety of clinical settings. The aim of this study is to show non-inferiority of serratus anterior blockade compared with surgically placed paravertebral blocks in the management of perioperative acute pain in patients undergoing VATS procedures.

Postoperative Pain After Using Er,Cr,YSGG Lazer Irradiation During Root Canal Treatment

Postoperative Pain

Irrigation with sodium hypochlorite (NaOCl) during chemo-mechanic preparation for effective root canal disinfection is a standard protocol in root canal treatment. NaOCl is an alkali irrigant with pH 11.0 -12.0. Nearby its high antimicrobial efficacy, cytotoxic features make it questionable when it comes contact with periradicular tissues. Several irrigation materials were investigated less cytotoxic, more or equal antimicrobial to avoid such adverse effects. Calcium hypochlorite, chlorhexidine, chitosan and antibiotics are some of the chemicals tested. Laser is not a chemical but its action may show antibacterial effect. Studies showed that Er,Cr:YSGG laser is strongly antibacterial against Enterococcus faecalis biofilm. This antibacterial effect were frequently obtained with laser activated irrigation (LAI) or photon-induced photoacoustic streaming (PIPS) in the literature. The aim of this study was to evaluate whether disinfection procedure with laser provides more or less benefit in terms of postoperative pain when compared with the conventional NaOCl irrigation method.
