Gutta-percha Solvent on Postoperative Pain After Root Canal Retreatment
Postoperative PainRoot Canal1 moreThe process of non-surgical retreatment includes removing the previous root canal filling materials, disinfecting and sealing the root canal system to prevent re-infection. Gutta-percha is the most common root canal filling material used with various types of sealers. To remove gutta-percha, solvent has been suggested because of its ability to dissolve gutta-percha. The new formula, under the brand name, GuttaClear, has been investigated for its comparable dissolving ability and lower cytotoxicity when compared with others that are currently used. However, no information is currently available of GuttaClear solvent concerning postoperative pain. Therefore, the present study will evaluate postoperative pain after non-surgical retreatment cases using GuttaClear as a solvent compared with no solvent used. Sixty participants are chosen and distributed into 2 groups, randomly. After the procedures, participants will receive the questionnaires about postoperative pain and the amount of medication intake. Both will be recorded at six time periods: (1) immediately after procedure; (2) 6 hours after procedure; (3) 12 hours after procedure; (4) 24 hours after procedure; (5) 48 hours after procedure and (6) 72 hours after procedure.

Percutaneous Peristyloid Glossopharyngeal Block After Tonsillectomy
Postoperative PainAdenotonsillectomy surgery in paediatrics is commonly managed as an ambulatory surgery. This may be attributed to the use of the electro-dissection surgical technique that decreases the incidence of immediate postoperative haemorrhage. However, the use of the electro-cautery technique increases postoperative inflammation. This study aimed to compare the glossopharyngeal nerve block using the blind technique with the use of the ultrasound guidance Primary: FLACC score in the two groups 0,2,4,6 h after surgery at rest and with swallowing Secondary: need to analgesics, the difficulty of the technique, time consumption, recovery time, surgeon satisfaction, parents satisfaction, staff nurse satisfaction, anaesthetist self-confidence

Truncal Blocks Versus Wound Infiltration for SICD
Intraoperative PainPostoperative PainThis is a single-center, randomized and prospective trial of all patients undergoing S-ICD implantation. Subjects will only be eligible for this study if they are ≥ 18 years of age and eligible to undergo S-ICD implant at Mount Sinai Morningside Hospital. They will be randomized to receive either surgical infiltration of local anesthetic or truncal blocks. Intraoperative and postoperative data will be collected including total opioid use, pain scores postprocedure, total postoperative narcotic need and length of stay.

Bupivacaine in Tonsillectomy
PainPostoperativeA placebo-controlled and double-blind study is planned according to current legislation and ICH GCP guidelines with 80 patients at Nordland Hospital, Bodø. Fifty percent are randomized to receive bupivacaine 5 mg / ml on the gauze swabs used to stop the bleeding after tonsillectomy, and 50% receive 0.9% sodium chloride. Pain at rest and pain when swallowing according to numerical rating scale (0-10), as well as the presence of the following symptoms (yes / no): nausea, vomiting, food intake, bleeding, fever, need for extra painkillers in the form of morphine or similar will be registered 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 hours and 1, 2 4 and 6 days after the operation. Differences are analyzed with "mixed models" statistics and the results will be published in a peer-based journal.

Postoperative Pain After Using NiTi Instruments
Post-Op ComplicationEndodontic Inflammation2 moreThe aim of this randomized clinical trial was to compare the incidence, intensity and duration of postoperative pain following the removal of root canal obturation materials canals using rotary (ProTaper Universal or Hyflex EDM) or reciprocating file (Reciproc Blue or WaveOne Gold) systems. The null hypothesis tested was that there is no difference in postoperative pain following the retreatment procedure between the four systems used.

Comparison of Skin Incision Closure Material for the Transobturator Suburethral Sling Procedure...
PainPostoperative2 moreThe purpose of this study is to compare different skin closure materials for the transobturator suburethral sling procedure. Currently the investigators are using monocryl suture material as the standard for skin closure. This material has anecdotally show to be very irritating to patients who have had this type of surgery. Our study will compare the monocryl suture material with vicryl (polyglactin 910) and dermabond (2-octyl cyanoacrylate) skin glue. The investigators believe that vicryl suture material will be superior in comfort when compared to monocryl and dermabond for this type of procedure.

Ultrasound-guided Dual TAP Block: Magnetic Resonance (MR) Evaluation of the Distribution of Local...
PainPostoperativeUsing Magnetic resonance (MR) scanning and ultrasonography the investigators wish to investigate, in what way a known volume of local anesthetic injectate will be distributed in the transverse abdominis plane (TAP) in young healthy male volunteers. The investigators compare the anatomical distribution of the local anesthetic injectate in the TAP when performing an ultrasound-guided classical TAP block and a Dual TAP block. The investigators also want to compare the spread of anesthetized frontal dermatomes when performing an ultrasound-guided classical TAP block and a Dual TAP block.

Management of Postoperative Pain After Total Knee Replacement.
Postoperative PainKnee Replacement ArthroplastyThe purpose of this study is to compare two methods of postoperative pain management in patients undergoing total knee replacement.
