Resilience and Well-Being Pilot Study
Chronic PainDepression5 moreIt is common for Veterans with injuries, illnesses, or physical disabilities to experience depression, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), chronic pain, and other concerns. They may also have goals like becoming happier or better able to cope with challenges that life brings. The purpose of this research study is to learn whether Veterans like and benefit from a 5-week, group-based positive psychology program aimed at improving mental health, resilience, well-being, and quality of life. Participants will be asked to complete several assessments (surveys/interviews) over the course of the study that are not considered part of standard care. Additionally, participants will be asked to participate in a focus group at the end of the study to provide feedback about their experiences in the group.
Lifestyle Education and Nutrition Demonstration
Chronic DiseaseThe Center for Lifestyle Medicine at the Cleveland Clinic Wellness Institute has a proven track record of engaging patients in healthy living and eating through education, live cooking demonstrations / hands-on cooking classes, exercise and stress management programs. As a result of the Community Health Needs Assessment, we are collaborating with Cleveland Clinic Community Outreach and 12th District Representative, John E. Barnes, Jr., to extend our expertise to the community of Warrensville Heights, Ohio.

The Use of LIFUP in Chronic Disorders of Consciousness
Disorder of ConsciousnessVegetative State9 moreWhen patients survive a severe brain injury but fail to fully recover, they often enter a Disorder of Consciousness (DoC) --that is, a set of related conditions of decreased awareness and arousal including the Vegetative State (VS) and the Minimally Conscious State (MCS). When these conditions become chronic, there are no approved treatments to help bolster any further recovery. In prior work, we have shown the clinical feasibility and potential of Low Intensity Focused Ultrasound Pulsation (LIFUP) as a remarkably safe form of non-invasive brain stimulation in these conditions.

The Association of Cognitive Distortions and NCDs Among Users of Medical Internet Resources
Cognitive BiasesNon-infecious Chronic DiseaseCurrently, medical Internet resources are popular among the population of most countries, including Russia. So its can be used as a platform for mass measures of prevention. Now we can receive a lot of information about socio-demographic characteristics, risk factors and the presence of chronic non-infectious diseases among users of medical Internet resources. And these knowledges are necessary to create effective online interventions for prevention of the most common diseases. We have enough resources to identify and control risk factors for chronic non-infectious diseases. But adherence to doctor's recommendations remains at a low level. Working with cognitive biases is one of the points of application for increasing adherence to treatment and the rules of a healthy lifestyle. Certain groups of patients have special cognitive biases. We assume that creation a typical portrait of a patient can reveal relationships and factors the variant of cognitive biases. This information may help to more effectively carry out preventive work with users of medical Internet resources, forming the correct patterns of perception and thereby improving adherence to the doctor's recommendations.
